Xiang Liu didn't deserve to die. He did good to people so many times, and it's heartbreaking that he's dying now. His farewell to Chubby is very sad. He is the only faithful friend who loves him. I feel sorry for them 💙💙💙
From those who have read the novel I have gathered that the love story is between Xiaoyao and Xiang Liu. They had the deepest love in the novel but in the drama they make it seem Jing is her deep love. That is part of the reason there is different opinions on who she really loves etc.. I prefer the novel version and love the demon. For those who love Jing the most it is fine also since the drama makes it seem this is her chosen one. My reasons are because I feel the demon has the deepest love for Xiaoyao, his is the most interesting character to me and lastly they made him look so beautiful in this drama. His eyes are so expressive to me. Tan Jianci did a bang up job of conveying everything he feels by his expressions. Whether love, heartache or anger, it seems to me he does it better than anyone else. The actors/actresses in the drama did a great job but he stood out the most to me. He is a great singer also. He conveys so much emotion in his voice when he sings. His song, Darkness (with English sub-titles) is so sad and beautiful to me. He suffered the most in this drama in my opinion but that isn't saying others did not suffer also. Some have said she was much more heartless/ruthless in the novel which would indicate to me that her and the demon were much alike when they met and so for them to fall in love so deeply it was even more intense. For those who never give their hearts to finally find the one soul-mate of the heart it is a tragedy they cannot be together. Their choices on how they want to live or die have taken them on opposite paths. That demon can really break my heart no matter what.
I feel she love Jing in some way, but it seems more an admiration of character and sense of security with Jing even in the drama than the passionate love she has for Xiang Liu. There are moments of pure happiness that she enjoyed with Xiang Liu which she doesn't quite have with Jing.

Previously, he had sacrificed a life to save Xiao Yao during their 37 years under the sea, thereby sacrificing three total lives to save Xiao Yao. Xiang Liu is hinted to be the leader of the Guifang clan. In Season 1, Episode 13, when Xiang Liu commissioned Xiao Yao's bow and arrows, he flashed the token of the leader of the Guifang clan. The emblem of the Guifang clan is a two-headed snake with an octopus on top. People naturally associate snakes with the nine-headed snake demon, Xiang Liu. A less obvious association is the octopus. Octopuses have nine brains, just like our beloved nine-headed demon, and three hearts, which represent the three lives Xiang Liu sacrificed to save Xiao Yao.

Furthermore, Tong Hua, the author of the novel has stated: "In fact, the conclusion of every story is not the real ending for those characters. On this matter, I am quite unrealistic. I always feel that the story is just a chapter in their lives. Even though my story has ended, their lives continue in another space, so, it’s not possible for every story to have a true ending." In fact, she left a lot of hints in both the drama and the novel that Xiang Liu will be revived and YaoLiu will have a chance to meet again in the future. I'll point out some of these clues in the comments of the last episode.

Although so many scenes have been cut from the book ( according to those who've read it) this HAS to be one if the greatest fantasy dramas to be made..at leat in my humble opinion. He wants to rule a continent or Kingdom which belongs to others (demons). 😭 A unloyal person can never be a good ruler. He wants to feel that he is at the top and others at the bottom. Cost- life of innocent people. No wonder, both of his grandchildren are selfish- Xiao yao and Cang Xuan.🤦🏻♀️ Demons in this story are much better compared to them. 🐍

I want to scream out loud to Xiao Yiao how much Xiang Liu has done for her, to wake her up ... and not for them to be together No ... but for her to give him at list a little bit of appreciation for his friendship, affection, support and for giving up everything for her happiness including return of Jing
Xiang Liu added a new merman to the crystal globe, one that lurks beside the big clam shell, creepily watching the two original merpeople like a stalker. This raises the question: which merman represents Tushan Jing-the original merman or the new one? At 32:56, the camera pans from the original merpeople to the creepy new merman, then the scene directly cuts to Jing floating in the ocean. The scene cutting from the new merman to Jing means that the new merman must represent Tushan Jing, and the original merman must represent Xiang Liu.
Here’s a slightly less cynical interpretation of the new merman: In the novel, Xiang Liu added a regular man representing Tushan Jing to the globe, who held the mermaid’s extended hand and smiled down at her while the original merman floated in the corner, indifferently staring out of the ice crystal ball as if he were in another world. In the drama, a new merman was added instead of a regular man. Since Tushan Jing is not a merman-at best, he can hold his breath underwater for a day or two with the aid of a fish core-the new merman is also Xiang Liu, but with a new identity. Xiang Liu knows he is the one Xiao Yao loves wholeheartedly and wants to accompany her for the rest of her life. He could not, in good conscience, replace himself with a completely useless Tushan Jing, who already had his lifespan drastically shortened by the Lamp of Time and would only be able to accompany Xiao Yao for a short while. Before going into battle, Xiang Liu left his demon core with the Guifang clan. After his death, the Guifang clan, who has the ability to bring people back to life, can use his demon core to resurrect him. Once reborn, he and Xiao Yao will finally be able to be together.

Xiao Yao may know more than we think. For example, Xiao Yao knows Xiang Liu gifted her the bow. Why else would she summon it, hug it, and cry after Xiang Liu killed off Fangfeng Bei in Season 2, Episode 6? Also, does Xiao Yao actually believe that the Royal Mother removed her lovers bug connection? At 15:02, she is looking out at the pond where Xiang Liu killed the lovers bugs and clutching her heart, indicating that she is thinking of Xiang Liu. We also see her clutching her heart at 37:49, after she wakes up from dreaming about Xiang Liu. It's actually quite clever how the previous scene is of Xiang Liu reminiscing about how Xiao Yao said she didn't want him in her dreams and him telling her she should sleep soundly and have good dreams before cutting to Xiao Yao waking up from a dream about Xiang Liu and clutching her heart.
The Chinese title is 长相思 (Eternal Longing). The novel has three volumes. The title of Volume 1 is 如初见 (As When We First Met). The volume ends with Fangfeng Bei visiting Xiao Yao's boudoir. The title of Volume 2 is 诉衷情 (Love Confessed). The volume ends with Xiao Yao reconciling with Tushan Jing after Yiying and Hou's affair is exposed. The title of Volume 3 is 思无涯 (Unending Longing). The volume ends with Xiang Liu's death and Xiao Yao leaving Cang Xuan forever.
No wonder Xiang Liu stole the show: There is rarely a tragic caracter so well written, well directed, and perfectly acted.... Silent generosity and steadfastness is only rendered visible in cinematography. In real life, it is completely ignored... or revealed.

Xiang Liu gave all for others and never asked for anything in return. When he set Chubby free, I cried. I know he does not want Chubby to suffer and die for him. Just like he doesn't want Xiaoyao to remember him; that's why he erased his memories from her mirror. He deserves so much love and respect. The last episode of this drama will be total heartbreak for me. 💔😭
The drama went wrong at the point where the FL fainted after giving blood to XL and she woke up being with her sister and then her sister had to take her back to XL. It didn't synchronise with what went on before and ruined the rest of the drama. Should have left it the way the original had it. The joy of being to see the whole drama transformed from text to live is enough, and more preferable than seeing it being ruined as the maker did.

At 37:35 did Xiaoyao dream of Xiang Liu? This episode was so heart breaking with Xiang Liu bidding farewell to Xiao Yao and Mao Qiu (bird) in his own way, and saving Jing. As much as I ship YaoLiu together, I am not super upset that Xiao Yao ended up being with Jing. After all, Jing is a very intelligent, talented, and devoted to Xiao Yao. Watching the author Tong Hua's interview about her writing process and Lost You Forever novel helped me understand each character's ending. I enjoyed both seasons but season 2 could have used a couple more episodes.

Xiang Liu He is my absolute favorite actor and character in this. Cried so much for him and others but for him it was gut wrenching to watch him suffer alone so much. Love this series tho.
😅😅😅 Cang Xuan was not that wrong about Jing being useless but the problem is really his family and tribe... everyone from his mother to his brother, grandmother and even the elders. He used to be a lot more powerful before his brother brutally tortured him so physically he would had been able to hold his ground and defend himself. I appreciate that he still has brains and compassion in spite of what he suffered but I appreciate Xiang Liu more. Xiao Yao identify with both of them because they all suffered terribly and somehow came through it all. Without realising it, I think Xiao Yao actually love Xiang Liu more than Jing but she knew she can't because of Cang Xuan so she just has to push him to the back of her mind.
At this moment cang xuan you may Lost xiao yao forever...true...she is waiting or want to see someone she loves Jing..not you... really a good and heartbreaking story...actors are all good dealing their roles...see u next epi...

Tongyu was already pregnant and gave birth to a son shortly before Xiezu went into early labor and gave birth to her third son, Cang Xuan's father.
From then on, Consort Tongyu had a blood feud with Empress Xiezu. The two women, and their respective children, battled in a vicious cycle of betrayal and revenge that didn't end until both women and all their children were dead. Xiao Yao's mother, Ah Heng, was the last of Empress Xiezu and King Xiyan's children. King Xiyan manipulated her into going into battle against her lover, Chi Chen, resulting in both of their deaths. In the end, King Xiyan's attempts to have it all caused him to lose the people he held most dear.

The scene cutting from the new merman to Jing means that the new merman must represent Tushan Jing, and the original merman must represent Xiang Liu.

Here’s a slightly less cynical interpretation of the new merman: In the novel, Xiang Liu added a regular man representing Tushan Jing to the globe, who held the mermaid’s extended hand and smiled down at her while the original merman floated in the corner, indifferently staring out of the ice crystal ball as if he were in another world. In the drama, a new merman was added instead of a regular man. Since Tushan Jing is not a merman-at best, he can hold his breath underwater for a day or two with the aid of a fish core-the new merman is also Xiang Liu, but with a new identity. Xiang Liu knows he is the one Xiao Yao loves wholeheartedly and wants to accompany her for the rest of her life. At 15:02, she is looking out at the pond where Xiang Liu killed the lovers bugs and clutching her heart, indicating that she is thinking of Xiang Liu. We also see her clutching her heart at 37:49, after she wakes up from dreaming about Xiang Liu. It's actually quite clever how the previous scene is of Xiang Liu reminiscing about how Xiao Yao said she didn't want him in her dreams and him telling her she should sleep soundly and have good dreams before cutting to Xiao Yao waking up from a dream about Xiang Liu and clutching her heart.
The Chinese title is 长相思 (Eternal Longing). The novel has three volumes.
The title of Volume 1 is 如初见 (As When We First Met). The volume ends with Fangfeng Bei visiting Xiao Yao's boudoir.

The drama went wrong at the point where the FL fainted after giving blood to XL and she woke up being with her sister and then her sister had to take her back to XL. It didn't synchronise with what went on before and ruined the rest of the drama. Should have left it the way the original had it. The joy of being to see the whole drama transformed from text to live is enough, and more preferable than seeing it being ruined as the maker did.

At 37:35 did Xiaoyao dream of Xiang Liu? This episode was so heart breaking with Xiang Liu bidding farewell to Xiao Yao and Mao Qiu (bird) in his own way, and saving Jing. As much as I ship YaoLiu together, I am not super upset that Xiao Yao ended up being with Jing. After all, Jing is a very intelligent, talented, and devoted to Xiao Yao.
Watching the author Tong Hua's interview about her writing process and Lost You Forever novel helped me understand each character's ending. I enjoyed both seasons but season 2 could have used a couple more episodes.
Finally Jing came back. Xiaoyaos wait came to end. I just fall in love with their story. YaoJing❤

😅😅😅 Cang Xuan was not that wrong about Jing being useless but the problem is really his family and tribe... everyone from his mother to his brother, grandmother and even the elders. He used to be a lot more powerful before his brother brutally tortured him so physically he would had been able to hold his ground and defend himself. I appreciate that he still has brains and compassion in spite of what he suffered but I appreciate Xiang Liu more. Xiao Yao identify with both of them because they all suffered terribly and somehow came through it all. Without realising it, I think Xiao Yao actually love Xiang Liu more than Jing but she knew she can't because of Cang Xuan so she just has to push him to the back of her mind.
