    Good concept for project tanks and first timers, but maaaan that price lol. I fall somewhere in between “dont want to DIY- and - for that price I might as well buy a pre made AIO”. On that note great looking product!

      Kinda. I can pick up the 40-breeder model right now from petco for 55 USD, and then the drop in for ... 120? So for 170 you have a 40 gallon AIO? Not bad.

    Cool idea but they need to bring the price point down before I would consider it for the 10 or 20 option. If you price out the pump and tank u would have to get your only saving a few bucks and you wouldn't have that nice rimless look of the fully built tanks.

    Holy cow, pick up a cheap little tank at Petco's $1/gallon sale, end up spending 5 times that amount just to convert it into an AIO, and that doesn't even include a pump.

    Let's face it. Reef tanks parts are 9000% more expensive just because it says reef. DIY is the way to go. this piece of equipment will probably cost you the price of diy sump, secondhand skimmer and a bucket of salt.

    OH WOW! perfect! I am making a frag tank for sofites and hate to add the ugly hob's off the back! I agree it a little pricey for a piece of plastic though! Instead of using a sock does it come with a media rack? I have a nuvo 20 and I much prefer the rack because I can stack all my media inside it to flow thorough. Can I put my media in the filter sock? If not how else would I get the flow through of my media? I use carbon, gfo or sometime chemipure elite, poly filter and filter floss on top that i change every 4 days or so and I have 2 racks of all that media plus bioballs in back as welll, frag plugs too If they dont have a rack can I stack that all in the sock with floss on top?

    Good video, but I have that kit and I regret the hell out of buying it. The clamps they provided with it were bent and didn't provide any "hold down", so after I ran my 55 gallon with this for a week, the Fiji AIO just decided to float...those clamps just didn't really 'grab' to hold the AIO in place.
    There's also an "unsightly gap" because the AIO won't fit flush with the wall of the tank because of the seam at the side.
    Overall, I'm just not a fan of it. For the price it should have come with more than it did (it was NOT cheap).
    I had to get 'creative' to hold it in place (used dry rock in the media basket area).
    Also, the media basket that costs EXTRA just fell apart on me, literally fell to pieces...I just don't trust this based on having it and using it now.

    I'm going to guess it's a no, but I have two Seaclear acrylic aquariums. They are quite annoying with the small openings, that is the downfall of these beautiful aquariums, so not everything can fit. If you know these tanks well enough, would it fit a 32 gallon Seaclear?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  2 роки тому

      I don't know the dimensions of the Seaclear tanks, but these drop in kits fit standard size aquariums, so just check to see if the dimensions match up with your tank.

    What size skimmer could you fit in the 40 gallon breeder model?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому +1

      The Tunze 9004 or Eshopps nano skimmers would both be worth considering. The 40 breeder size of this drop in kit has a skimmer chamber of 4.4" x 6.7", which is actually pretty large compared to most pre-made AIO style tanks.

    The concern I have with this AIO box is that if it's not weighed down and/or the water level is lower in the box then the tank it will flip and float away. Can I or is it advisable to drill a hole towards the lower half of left side of the box below the inlet grooves so if the water level gets below that, there is always another entry point for the water to fill up the box so it stays weighed down?

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому +1

      You may not get as much surface skimming by drilling the hole, but the box as a whole will still function if you drill that hole.

      @BRStv  3 роки тому

      Just make sure that you check dimensions before buying to ensure they're the right size for your tank. The 40 breeder tanks are just 18" tall in most cases, so you might find them to be a little short for a 55 or 75.

    • @robertt8874
      @robertt8874 3 роки тому

      @@BRStv Thanks, I am aware the 40 breeder is smaller than intended and I would have a gap between the bottom of the unit and the tanks. I intend to install them on the long back side of the tanks to replace the HOB filter and hide protein skimmer and UV pumps inside the unit. I know they make ones for 55g/75g but I don't want to lose too much tank real estate.
      If they made something similar but HOB style that fit the length of the tank I would be in heaven, then I would have a place to fit all my equipment and add some water volume
