That's interesting.... I've always pulled the B's in high wind... and it has worked really really well!

Show us how you tie them brake lines! lol

If I'm doing a high-wind motor-on landing, I don't bother with brakes at all... flair with motor, the moment feet touch the ground, I pull C's and hotdog the wing. Same effect as pulling D's, but it hot-dogs a little better.
I've seen some free-fliers even start to pull C's while they're trying to touch down. It kills the lift without dragging the wing back into lift zone like brakes will.

This is true. The video was quickly filmed and we should have added that.

Practice your high wind kills in moderate wind until you can do them in your sleep. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to use them, things happen fast and it's not a great time to give that cool trick you heard about on UA-cam a go for the first time!

In an emergency you can even grab a single line and just start hauling it in, it will deform the wing pretty quickly and stop dragging you around.

I would actually resist from doing this because these lines are very high tension and even with gloves on they could very easily burn your hands and fingers if the line slides through them.
I have a few light scares from just brush ups with glider lines running along my skin in high wind

@@jordanschanze "emergency" - I'm being drug across the yard and I'm grabbing at whatever I can.

@JohnUllrey even then, I would resist pulling a single line, and it would be better to wrap from a riser or brake toggle. In an emergency situation, you still want to be calm and controlled, grabbing and jerking whatever could most likely make it worse

ok how about a really big wing? i am flying a spyder3 biggest 31m size. i grabbed Ds and hang on with dear life, trying to get the wing down behind my car. but even a big SUV isnt enough for such a big wing. there were situations people say: "hey just grab this and that its easy i can do that no problem on my 22m wing"
    and i agree.
but it seems these max sized wings dont care what we think should be easy. they fly no matter what i pull. then i got the answer "just dont fly in higher winds" and yes thats also correct but what if i fly in normal easy wind conditions like 2-3ms and when i land there is a gust front with 6ms gusts going on. whatever i did. that wing didnt came down. made me almost faint from exhaustion. at the end i was sitting on the beach with my motor on back just kiting it until winds got manageable. scary situation

Run towards the wing while you pull brakes or C/D. Grab fabric asap.

@@CalebJohnsonlivingca yep tried that. cant run fast enough. result is i run 30 meter and the bloody wing isnt down while i am pulling lines down to my knees. i was hoping for a better solution because this always ends up with a big spaghetti clusterfrock and tangled lines. i thought i am stupid but take a big wing and try it. 🤣

@@cloudpandarism2627 Try running to the side. As the wing turns, it will lose power. If you're lucky, it will even scrunch up nicely.
