The new FA24 motors in the VB WRX has shown lots of potential so today we're taking it to the dyno to get a baseline and figure out how much power we can make with an OTS map as well with a custom pro tune! It turns out, this car makes tons of torque! I can't wait to continue modifying it to see how much more power we can make.

Love the Cobb AP. Had similar numbers with a custom stage 1 tuned on my 2011 Legacy GT tuned at Cobb Fountain Valley awhile back. Damn it's been over 10 yrs lol.
Awesome! I saw Graham sitting in your VB and I knew you were in good hands.
I had the same tune from Graham but on 93 it was great now im in the process of him tuning it for my intake and i haven't been hard on it because its not fully tuned but i can tell once you do that its a huge difference
Awesome vid dude at the shop was so chill. Been really looking into this platform of of late
Next month I’m going to see Drunkmann Tuning for a pro tune and part installs. Cannot wait!
Graham did my tune and I've got everything but the turbo. Its sitting pretty with the stock clutch for over 10k miles since the tune. And it is fun to play with scat packs in it.
Holy moly that’s a ton of torque! I bet that feels insane. Can’t wait to see more mods and see where the torque numbers go.
Nice work …. Can’t wait to try this out with my car! 🎉
Big difference in numbers Kevin 👍🏻 car is showing a lot of potential ! Looking good. Cheers
It looks great . 👍 its the best wrx to date
I just picked up a VB and I tried to tell myself "this one is going to be stock" for a while... but this video isn't helping me 😅
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah no stocky
Props for graham telling ppl the VBs still fail with an aggressive tune. VBs are definitely much better than the VA ( i have a VA ) and not bulletproof as some people make it out to be but the VBs are milds ahead of being more reliable and mods per HP dollar aspect. Kudos 👍
Your dynos have in us must be reading very very high for a stock 265 hp at the wheels ??????
In Australia we get 200-220 hp at the wheels that’s more realistic
I am on an aggressive e50 tune for 17k mi and no problem.
@@romantretiak6888 ACTUALLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON TREND..LOWEST IVE SEEN ON A OEM FACTORY TUNE WAS 248 WHEEL HP. SOUNDS LIKE THE AUSSIE MARKET GOT SOME LOWER ECU TUNING...MAYBE BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE CLOSE TO THE JAPANESE MARKETS STI !!?? DO THEY OFFER THE STI'S IN AUSTRALIA??
Amazing gains! Wow. I can't wait to tune the 86. Even though it won't see gains like that but still.
Holy smokes those are some healthy numbers!
The cheesy grin says it all. That's huge numbers for stock.
The only problem is that the vb wrx transmission can barely handle mid 400s reliably
Holly shit, Subaru managed to reduce the drivetrain loss to 2 percent??? lol #DynoJet
But that torque curve is lovely.
pre-paint matched fenders in see 👌🏻
40 hp from an intake?!? That’s insane
Great results! But I gotta just put this out there. You need some coils! It’ll make such a difference performance wise and visually!
So this FA24 can handle more TQ than the FA20?
475ft lbs for 22k miles beforei decided i wanted kore
Any plans to address those very pedestrian brakes anytime soon?

I suppose it is not an issue for you that this is the one mod that can flat out void the entire car warranty? Normally only the part you replace with aftermarket gets voided, but the ECM? That impacts Electrical, Powertrain and Structure. There is no returning the ECM to stock anymore. Touch it and it indexes the identifier number registered as the stock configuration. I suppose a way around this is to just purchase another ECM (~$700) and play with that one and put the stock one one in a grounded box on a shelf (HERF shielded). Of course, you do have a video channel, so the dealers probably watch your channel anyways and are cool with your mods as it is free advertisement for them.
As a general rule of thumb, I always tell people that if you're worried about your warranty than you shouldn't modify your car.
*The FA24 in my 21 Outback is great.*
Given that this engine is very similar to that in the GR86/BRZ I'm curious to see how well they will handle being boosted long term. Who knows, the FA24 might actually be able to handle it reliably
I'm guessing it'll be like the fa20 in the wrx and 1st gen twins. The one that was designed to be turbod loves making power and the NA version doesnt. You have to remember that the NA fa engines go in subaru's economy cars so they aren't nearly as tunable as the turbo ones and the new fa24 isn't any different. The extra displacement should help though, I wouldn't want an 86 with more than 350 whp at the absolute most, realistically 300 would be more than enough and the fa24 should be solid in that range
FA engines are only for performance cars (WRX/BRZ/other turbo models), the economy cars have the FB engine.@@lukewest708
The reason why the 86 is a bit more troublesome is strictly because those engines have higher compression ratio’s. Squeeze even more air in the cylinder and you’ll get a visit from uncle Rodney.
Bring it out to the california tracks!!
I would love to, but that's a bit of a drive haha

@@KevinVo one of these days 😔
Wonder how much those numbers change with the Automatic.
300/374 on a safe pro tune sounds real nice.

nuh uh
you win!!!!
