hi jesssy!
@@CC.lemonn ✌️hi
OMG... It is such an honor being mentioned by you Uncle Jessy.
Thank You so much!
Does this include bottom exposure time?
lol this clown over exposed af prints yet one of biggest youtubers but yet so clueless about what he does
Well, taking this as a needed kick in the ass to actually calibrate my printer. Thanks for running through it, feel confident doing it now.
Just picked up my first printer. Elegoo Saturn S based on your reviews. Super stoked, thanks Uncle Jessy!
Hey man, wanted to say thanks for your content. Its helped me a lot to become more comfortable with my resin printer.
Heck yeah! More resin videos on the way!
with the new resin profiles in Lychee and these calibration things I have seen a big difference in my newer prints.
Ok I’m trying not to jix it but first print even out of my elegoo saturn seemed perfect. I’m so happy to start trying resin printing
Great video! Just found Denny's calibration videos recently as well.
Review video for Rocket 1 soon? Hitri mentioned they sent one to you in the FB group.
Yeppers! Video should be up this week. Behind on my video schedule with the holidays 😂
Thanks so much. This helps those of us just starting out. Happy holidays!
Enjoy some holiday printing!
Hi, first of all great videos you really got me into 3d printing lately (started with elegoo printers a month ago Mar 2 P and Saturn) 💪
I have a question I started printing with Elegoos ABS like grey with exposure 2.5 and bottom exposure 40 on Mar 2 PRO and everything went fine with some minor fails, now that it got colder many prints fail and I only get supports printed with no figures(with the 2.5 and 40 settings), what can I do to get more successful prints?
Get a space heater.
Great watch, brownie points for the Roc city Flower shirt!
Exposure is important however you also need to dial in other settings in your slicer. I have the correct exposure settings but am working to figure out the best bottom settings as I’m getting failures halfway up my prints and randomly in the build plate.
Always need more calibration tests👍
thank youuuu!! I'm gonna finally finish my ventilation system for my first resin printer, and I've been watching all the videos about exposure tests as possible! Surprisingly, there's not as much data on the photon mono as other similar printers… Shoulda gotten anycubic resin, but the elegoo grey was on sale… 😅
Ohhh nice! I have some plans in mind for a ventilation system setup in the near future.
Thank you! I’m going to try these files. I feel like Elegoo’s chart is a good start, but like all things in this realm, it needs tweaking. Great info.
Yep! With a little testing you can really dial in your prints
Awesome! Won a Kingroon KP6 on DB3D_Dan's giveaway stream recently and still need to set it up. This will be invaluable. Thanks!
I needed this video. Thank you. Santa has been good to me
In the lower exposure times that have failures, do you need to clean tank everytime in case of cured resin floating in tank?
I just added a screen protector to my original photon mono. I had no issues with its first print after the screen protector but the second print was much larger and had a layer that split. the print finished and the location of the split isn't an issue for this model. It's a mimic and it split in a way that I can make it work. lol. I'm thinking I may bump my exposure times up from 1.8 to 1.9 maybe 2.0 I printed the test print with the cube and everything seems ok expect one cube had what I can describe as a razor-thin part that was like a slice that cut in it. only on one of the 3 cubes. all the other stuff on the test print was perfect. temps are fine mid-70s to low 80s. using anycubic basic gray. this is really the first issue I've had with this printer. It spoiled me from the day I got it. one of those best-case scenarios lol. Had it for over a year. I'm 99% sure it's not the screen going bad I tested that and I don't print often enough to have worn it out yet. only used about 1.5kg of resin. lol. I am very picky about what I print :) It might be time to change the fep. it's original. I welcome productive advice. lol
Thank you for all the information you give
I just got a Saturn
Great video, and glad to see you repping ROC!
Great video it was very helpful. Not going to lie though I was focusing on your eyelashes. I couldn't tell if they were just a different color or if you had a little fluff on them.
AH So awesome! We normally go with 2.7sec on the Saturn, will have to try these pieces to see what we can get. That 2.7 is used for Siraya Tech fast grey and some doping from Tough and Tenacious. But I have never taken the time to validate, thanks for this!
Gosh I need to get a camera for resinlapse! SOON!
Uncle Jessy is my hero.
Had to warranty claim some parts on the Mercury X washing station after washing only 6 prints. Also a shame that UVtools can't be used with the new Chitu boards. Very disappointing December for 3D printing for me. I'd love to see you take a look at UVtools calibrations.
Oh no! My mercury x bundle has been taking a beating lately with all the prints I’ve been running. Indeed!! I need to checkout UV tools. Have yet to try it out
Apparently the motor to magnet disc connection in the washing station has a flaw and they have re-designed the part because of the number of failures.
Mines took 2hrs to print on an Creality LD-002R😢. I'm using the default settings. From there I'll start playing around with bottom layer and exposure times. Ty Unc.
Great video as always! Thanks for the new test prints.
Thanks mate!!!
Awesome! Just in time for my Phrozen 8k mini to come in next week!
Thank you so much for this video…. Just bought a resin printer. 🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏
Looks great at the 1.8 exposure, but I don't think that saves a huge amount of time. The time seems to come from the lowering and raising of the bed. What do you use as settings here? I generally run 2.0 exposure with my resin and a bust that size will be a little over 5 hours
Thanks for this, I really need to give these test prints a try. I recently tried out Siraya Tech Simple Water Washable resin and though it prints nice I've gotten a lot of fails even with their recommended settings for the elegoo mars 2 mono, though their settings are for the pro, while I just have the normal. So far not been able to fine tune the settings and right now it seems 50/50 on if a print works or not. I'll def have to give these a try.
I am also trying to find a flex plate that fits the normal mars 2 mono, but a lot of places get complex and say something with the machine needs editing so the screen don't crack like something to change the z height as normal leveling wont work.. I dunno... so my only worry doing these test prints is getting them off the build plate.
Some flex plates require you to print a spacer for it to fit which is usually really small and easy to install. Love a good flexplate and yes these tests should help!
great video and very informative. Do you know when and if you will be getting a Elegoo Jupiter to test and show us?
Do you have to do new tests when changing the thickness of the layer?
Great video as always dude. Thank you for the feature!😊
there is any kind of flexible resin? like TPU filaments?
I’m having issues with prints warping or shrinking during printing. Is that a support issue? Not enough? Its kind of a pain trying to find some really good videos about why prints do that and how to prevent it.
I know this is an old video by now, but still hope you'll answer.
Just got a Photon Mono 4k for my D&D group, and running these exposiore calibration tests right now...
BUT! I've seen some comment somewhere, that they compared these print BEFORE "post-print" curing, to be able to compare them "precisely"...
That kinda makes sense to me, as the curing process also should expand the resin... but then on the other hand... if the resin expands from curing... your prints aren't gonna be as precise, as your calibrated exposure, made from uncured prints.
Do you cure before comparing? And... can you give a good explanation to why, either way?
As soon as I get some money im gonna buy the Saturn
Make sure to checkout Elegoo’s EBay page as well! They had some crazy deals over there a few weeks afo
Thanks for the video. I just got the mono X 6k and some eco resin. Using lychee slicer, I selected a highly rated setting profile, but prints are taking forever. I'm excited to do my own testing and find what works for me.
hey bro just got my mono x 6k today!!!! so excited i posted on reddit and basically was booed off like 4 or 5 diff reddits cause i decided to buy resin before i had an fdm...
Curious then, are you still keeping the high exposure times for the bottom and the several bottom layer counts?
@Uncle Jessy wondering this myself! Saturn/Chitubox settings seem to panic if I go below bottom layer count of 5 (entry box turns red). However the Siraya Tech .stl details look like they start printing around layer 2 and on. Do you just drop your bottom layer count to 0? Asking for a friend..
Also just discovered in Chitubox that if you attempt to set bottom layer count to '0', it automatically resets the count to a minimum of '1' bottom layer. Fyi..
when will the giveaway winners be announced?
Australia always misses out on these. Half a world away, they can ship sideways, not down. Oh well. Shame as there is a big demand 'down under'
@uncle jessy surprised to see you still linking cults3d stuff with all the recent controversy.
hi,
so finetuning the time is 0,1 secs? thanks that helps a lot.
I really like using UV Tools because you can test multiple exposures in one print.
I only use this! Don’t like having to do separate prints when I can just use UVTools!
Can you use UV Tools with Photon mono x? I used but serms Is not for mono X
What do you think
@@moisesmartinez6733 you can use it with any resin printer. It just need a files created for that specific printer to start with.
@@beersandbacon excuse me, this file Is created by The UVTools?
I would like to see a video on PAINTING resin prints
Scuff, prep, different resin, different adhesion of paint
What kind of paint, application, finish, spray clear coat?
I use Krylon Fusion from Lowes for primer. Primarily use Monument Hobby's paint line and testors matte clear coat.
What is the right way to use the Elgoo washing and curing systems? I feel like I may not be cleaning and curing my prints right. I'm also getting some sort of surfacing shattering going on. Looks like I dropped glass on the floor. What is causing that?
Question, How could you print this is 3 hours and I have the Anycubic 8K premium and to print "the One Ring form LOTR" it took me 3:45 minutes? How is that done.
Uncle Jessy do you use chitubox? Or lychee? Which do you recommend?
Great video as always! I just got the Proxima 6.0 on sale as my starter! I thought the recommended settings on their website were much higher, something like 8 seconds normal exposure time? How does a much lower setting work so well?
If it has a mono screen you can usually go a lot lower. You can always give one of those tests a quick print then pause after 4 mins or so to see if it’s sticking
Had an industry guy tell me, he removes is build platform, and prints a grid of squares with different heights stair stepped, runs the print and peels the sheet off the fep, and measures heights of the sheet, layer time is set to 0.1 seconds so you get to see how thick a layer will print with x seconds of exposure
My elegoo mars 3 ultra 4k mono lcd 3d printer. And I bought a Prozen Aqua-Gray 8K printing Resin. Will the 8K resin cause problems in printing in my mars 3 ultra 4K???
I got the photon mono for Christmas, it's smaller than I expected. Can I make 1/4 statue pieces with it?
Since the mars 3 was a quick set up, Safe to say it didn't have a mach5 type screen protector and factory FEP?
Questioning for those using screen protector and nfep
This helped. I just got an elegoo jupiter and an any cubic photon max. The jupiter printed beautifully using the settings on the bottle. The any cubic had a settings range that was incredibly large. It did not come out that great. Thanks for the help! Do you do this for every resin and save the resin settings?
Have a mars 3 with wham bam/nfep.
Am getting good prints around my plate except for 1 corner(back right). Keep falling off into vat. Tried resanding.
Siraya fast grey
BL:4s BLE:51s epxoT:3s
Santa clause keeps misplacing my resin 3d printer... my be this year he will remembers where my house is too
LOL😊
I could smell mint from here
Can I ask a question
How do you use the lubricant that you showed and have in the stuff you use on Amazon
Thanks Jessy, good info as usual!
any chance do you have exposure settings for the saturn 2 8k over at your patron where you can say that you have tested these files and they came out great
New Saturn user and the prints are sticking to the fep…using Elegoo water washable grey…it looks like the build plate isn’t going low enough for the first layers…. It almost comes out of the vat entirely…. It should be very low in the cat correct?
Hi I use water washable resin (elegoo brand) for my elegoo Mars 2 pro the bottle say 8 sec for exposure time any advice
What’s ur bottom exposure? I have a perfect 1.5 normal exposure but the bottom splits and my bottom exposure is @ 20s my machine is LD-002H also using siraya tech fast navy grey resin
Hii, how many botton layers do you have in this test?
And i think one video for the best way to change the fep its necesary ^^
Grettings from spain :D
so… i tried printing the siraya test print, but when the print was supposed to be finished the cube and supports didn’t print. the crosses, triangles, and the little bridge part printed just fine.
with me still being very NOVICE with resin 3D printing. i have not adjusted any settings for my Photon Zero resin printer. for me it works just fine but anyone that is serious about there printing can take notes of this knowing any micro adjustment can have a huge impact on printing and quality... thank you for this content stay safe
mars 2 pro would work just fine right?
What layer height did you print at for the tests?
Edit: looks like it was 0.05mm.
After the first Matrix was done printed and removed from the Platform, Do I have to Level it again? Or is it possible to print the next exposure test right after that?
Is it possible to have 1 specific test mulitple times printed in one print with different exposure times?
my exposure test is perfect dialed it in but everytime I try to print a model it just prints supports but the part is partial and some stuck to plate. I've changed my retract speed all the way from 65 to 40 i've changed my lift distance from 6 to 10 and nothing I try seems to work. I'm at a loss.
Great information. Thank you.
Love your videos and content. Also, agree with you that dennys wang makes amazing content. It's almost a crime that he is not getting more views. He does in-depth reviews, as well as detailed guides and comparisons on how to improve prints. Not many creators I have seen goes into as much detail as he does, and he shares a lot of practical tips as well. For example, so far he is the only one I have seen who mentioned that reducing UV power can help improve details on prints.
Yeah I literally just came across his channel last week while researching this video project and saw his files. Such a simple approach as well
Could be the teenage handle he is using...
@@dirkheinz7284 teenage handle? I believe dennys wang is his actual name.. dennys is his first name and wang is his last name / family name
Okay, I got an huge resin printer with a 12 inch build plate. Also got standard resin. It took me a total of about 4 hours to learn and use the necessary software, and everything else about the process. Used my best guess for the setup and settings. Populated the entire build surface and printed 37 pieces of varying shapes, sizes and details. So, long story short, no problems whatsoever. I found that you can ignore 90% of the nonsense you find on these types of channels. Everyone wants you to believe resin printing is so complicated and mystical. Its not. So in the span of 24 hours I got a printer and supplies, learned all about the software and successfully printed 37 pieces the first time. And on a Linux platform. Me thinks people trying to cut back on competition.
who?
I feel I have a very stupid question regarding this.. But how do you get the rerf "dry" to a point you can inspect it?
Like I understand the basics on how to inspect it. But yeah getting it off the plate and dry is where I'm like: curing it seems pointless, wiping it would jade the results.. Just hang it to dry?
So what are the steps from printing to inspecting is what I'm curious about
Hi i have a phrozen 8k mighty i need to ask you about the phrozen go app i paired it with another phone wich i sold out and now came to know that it is paired to that any idea how to unpair that repair this please
Hello Uncle Jessy, i just bought my first 3D printer (Mars 3) , i’ve seen that you used this printer in a lot of videos 😁regarding the calibration tests, i was thinking of trying different exposure times as you did, should i do all that process between the prints ? you know like : filter the resin, put it in the bottle, clean the vat … etc , or can i just print one after another by just removing it from the table ? Also do i need to cure the calibration tests or just cleaning it is just fine ? Thanks, loving your videos, great channel :D
I have the same question ^^
I’m surprised you picked 1.8 instead of 2.0, the 2.0 looked perfect while the 1.8 still had some tiny flaws in the bars at the bottom.
Haha yeah it was a tossup for me. I might try a 1.9 but that’s really splitting hairs at this point
10:46 I think you mean 1.5 not .15..... though I would expect a lot of failures at 0.15🤣 Might want to put correction text in there.
2.0 all dayy everyday baby!
Id rather take my time and have a good print then rush it or ruin it and be out the resin and time. Great work yet again Jessy, Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Thanks Jessy !
Hey man, you gotta look into a different lens/lens setting for your close up shots.... Its one thing to have your background out of focus, Its another to have only 30% of your subject in focus -- especially when you are demonstrating details at 4k. Granted these are intro shots; so less important than your properly (mostly) in frame comparison shots. However, this puts a lot of strain on the viewer for this particular video.
Overall though, great video! your stuff has made my want to upgrade one of my two ender FMDs and pickup a Resin (in particular Elgoo). Keep making EXCELENT informational content and you will overtime iron out the boundary between artistic and functional photography.
I dont remember if you did it or not, did you test the Creality resin printer? I have not had a good experience with my Elegoo Neptune (original) and the locked board they are using is not a good thing.
Can you try to use a 3D Printer as an "injection molding machine" ? Just by using a simple cavity of roundabout 2 cm³ to evaluate if it would work ?
Do you know the cones of calibration?
Ok, you're the only one I can actually ask.
I printed something on my 3d printer and found out that X and Y axis work nicely, but I get some shrinkage on the Z.
I've seen a lot of things about calibrating X and Y, due to resolution and all... but the Z I've found no info and people only says to me "resin shrinks".... but why would two of the axis be exactly the size they need to be, but Z be off a bit?
do you need to do an exposure test for every model? or just when you use a different type of resin?
Just when you change printers or resins
Hey, I’m having an issue here. Just got a new printer (halot mage) and I know it’s built for speed, but the calibration tests all look the EXACT SAME from 4 seconds to 1 second. I tried 4.0, 3.5, 3, 2.8, 2.7, 2.6, 2.5, 2.4, 2.2, 2.0, 1.8, 1.5, AND 1.0 and they all look like identical. On top of this, none of them were like 100% detailed, more like 80 or 90% detailed. Any suggestions? I’m decided to stay with like 1.8 to be safe even tho it looks the same if printed at 1.0.
I just got my first mars 2 pro mono and have no idea what I’m doing
I have a problem where my build plate will tilt a little while printing which ruins the print. i level the plaate which goes smooth for a long time, but after a while it tilts. any ideas? help?
Why does your print plate look like paper? Do you have a special surface coating?
I have more then enough funds to buy the 3D resin printer and cure’er…even as like a fun hobby? But do YOU personally think someone should? I’m scared I’m going to not like the hobby. Which is weird because I’m obsessed with your videos lol
I know you are sponsored on occasion by Elegoo but do you have any legit side-by-side printer comparisons of their Saturn vs Photon Mono X - or similar? I'm on my third Elegoo printer and I am consistently disappointed by their design flaws and sub-standard parts choices. I've also got a Photon Mono X on the way from Cali that I'm very excited about adding to the stable.
I have got a bottle of Elegoo Standard White Photopolymer Resin and it states normal layer curing time of 8 seconds :|
Hello. I am a novice but from watching a lot of videos, I am certain that you know what you are talking about. What 3D printer do you recommend in the $500-$600 range to create a multitude of 2.75"x1.5" prototypes of Roman Gods and Goddesses busts and later 10" statues for professional use (to be molded and replicated with rigid resin)?
Also, any suggestions for that initial resin I should use?
Many thanks upfront
Hey thanks for the vid! I'm using Siraya Tech Navy Gray but I'm getting some white specks and streaks on the finished product? I'm shaking the you know what out of it till my arm falls off but even with Siraya's settings (or any others I arrive at with tests) end up with the specks. Is it really separation? Or something else? Didn't happen with any other resins I used. Thanks!
I've read on different platforms that resin is prone to that more than usual, you might investigate a different cleaning solution
Are you from the Roc? Flower city?!
You joke, but my brother WAS gifted an Elegoo by his Secret Santa. Totally sending him the link to this.
This biggest issue I have with my prints is something I can't find any references to. I have the Anycubic Photon X Mono 6k. The bottoms of my prints come out highly detailed. But the upper surfaces (build plate side) have a melted look to it. Any clue about what the cause is?
my main problem is sticking resin to feb every time on monocure 3d rapid red
