You're like the Indiana Jones of the JM lost guitar world, going where few or perhaps no men have gone before to uncover and unlock the secrets of John Mayer's sound and music. You've managed to instill in me the same attention to detail and I have started taking the same approach to transcribing his music and performances rather than just reading some quarter-baked tab. I'm just taking baby steps to start while I get my ears up to speed and am looking at The Age Of Worry and an unreleased song, Level. Perhaps we should compare notes sometime. Thank you for your hard work.
Thanks, yeah, if you are ever learning a song, transcribing it in guitar pro or some other medium is a real plus. You can re-learn it again lightning fast. When I buy pro finger style tabs, I print them out, find the mistakes, hand-write over the staves and then re-scan them because when the notes don't jive with what I'm hearing. it bugs me. I'm looking at an Ed Sheeran song Tenerife Sea, and every single one of the tutorials is wrong up the wazoo. Whoever put out the first wrong ascii tab propagated the mistakes to everyone who must not be listening to the source material enough... Shame on those guys... Oh well... I went on a rant again...
you probably dont care but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of months =)
You give the best tutorials man. My guitar playing has improved leaps and bounds since I've started watching you. Not only do you teach the song you're focusing on, you teach things about guitar in general. Love it my man!
This was the most insightfull guitar lesson I ever saw... Thanks to you I started getting JM right hand technique, an eye opener! Will come here later for the "solos" :)
Simply the best- thank you for what you do. Big smile on my kids faces, like i've never seen, when they learn what you post and for that; I Thank you my Good Man!
Sweet tutorials! Sucker and Neon were also fantastic. If you're looking more at electric, could you check out Like A Rolling Stone performed by John live?
Great tutorial, you're the best man!my playing improved a lot thinks to you.could you consider making one for split screen sadness or his version of wind cries mary? Anyways, thank you zartimus
This is awesome! Do you have a video with tab on the wait until tomorrow solo from where the light is? Can't find one anywhere on UA-cam but I figure you might have or could do it cuz ur a beast!
dude please make a tutorial of him covering bucket of rain in his private show in Casa Del Mar. he did it in standard tuning, unlike bob dylan original version... please, thanks before!
Hello Zartimus Thank you for this incredible work , I would like to know if you've got a song like "I got a woman" , " Ain't no sunshine" or " Video games " all covered by John! On your next lessons?
It's a john Mayer signature strat that showed up on Kijiji in my home town this year. I had to grab it. It required a major re-set up, fret glueing and levelling, but it's a nice nice guitar!
Diego Mahoudeau that is a great song and I may get to it one day, but I tend to do the songs I like first. It helps me keep at it to finish them, etc..
What kind of amp configuration are you using to get that tone? I also have a strat and I have it in the second pick selection, I have a fender mustang so I can emulate different amps, but so far I have no clue how to approach that tone
Other guys on youtube manage to get WAY better tones than me ;-( At that time I had a line6 Pro Pro X and researched some John Mayer sites that went over the amp settings. I think it was a fender bassman model I used with a Boss OD pedal in front. I have since switched to an AXE FX Mark 2 and WHERE HAS THIS THING BEEN ALL MY LIFE! I think it's one of the best amp moddelers out there. It's also $$$$$, I got mine second-hand after selling the Line6 and some other gear I wasn't using. The next electric tut will have a much better tone than this one.
After bigger than my body could you teach the song he wrote in a hotel bathroom? It is a very nice song it was live in Milwaukee. Thank you so much I believe you will be interested.
Sir please make tutorial for this video on youtube.. John Mayer - Hummingbird - On His Own (December 6, 2008) I requested last year also. Please give it a listen. Thanks.
Zartimus Bigger than my body. I remember when I bought Adrenalinn 3 to play this song. The pedal sounds good! But there is something difference between studio version and live version. I don't know but I thinking.. john uses this pedal on keyboard instead guitar.. just speculation
Alexandre S When I heard Bigger than my body for the first time I thought it was a with a delay pedal with a volume potting technique to remove the attack, and a 2nd guitar just doing chunky muted strums. Then I saw him on Austin City Limits and he had a keyboard player laying down swirly chords and I thought that was it, then I happened to listen to it again and though, it's so flangy, it has to be an arppegiator effect, and then I looked it up (like I should have years ago) and it was the adrenalinn pedal. I'm pretty sure it's the pedal... They are great fun. Although I will be doing the acoustic version I'll throw a segment on the end with the electric pedal.
please please please may the next song after bigger than my body be free fallin from where the light is! it's a total chick magnet plus one of his best songs/covers (in my opinion) and i can't find any good tutorial on it and i don't trust the tabs sense there all different from each-other and i know you would do it nearly perfectly on how he plays it, so i think i speak for many of us who learn from you when i say WE NEED A GOOD FREE FALLIN TUTORIAL!! thanks in advance.
Hey Zartimus I appreciate the time and effort that you put into your videos. I have learned several songs from you that I unlikely would have been able to learn otherwise. You are obviously passionate about music and it shows in your videos. Recently I have been trying to learn A live version of Come Back To Bed by ear and I don't quite have the experience I need to piece it together. The solo and the ending solo(5:20) are really sweet. It would be greatly appreciated by myself and I'm sure many others if you picked it apart and made a video! ua-cam.com/video/zd4KY66kY4Y/v-deo.html If not it's cool just thought I'd make a suggestion! Thanks man keep jammin'!

It's a john Mayer signature strat that showed up on Kijiji in my home town this year. I had to grab it. It required a major re-set up, fret glueing and levelling, but it's a nice nice guitar!
