I found everything he said here funny and entertaining.
He has established his reputation over the years!

Yes, except when he said he can't enter in any cafe maybe.
with the Russian accent everything you say is cool 😎

dunning kruger effect. the valley of death. it just happens when learning something to a high degree.
3:50 "he plays way more games than I do" classic Grischuk, it's not a joke but it cracks you up
They laughed because of course hikaru will brag about how he is “retired” beating a profesional yet he is still playing a lot more chess daily.
Even when grischuk says "good morning" I find it hilarious.
"Once You Get This Reputation People Find ANYTHING You Say Funny" he totally got me on that.
I could listen to Grischuk 24/7. Best interviewee ever.
I listen to him while I sleep

Dina Belenkaya is so entertaining in these interviews. The questions are so left and right, she always reveals something interesting about the guests. Big fan. And of course Sasha is charismatic in his usual self.
You nailed it
Ok, but you can tell her inexperience by how she just abruptly asks questions, no?
@@appointmentnow6255 Sure I guess, but it doesn't detract from the entertainment value for me, so I didn't even think about it
It is entertaining, but if I was the player I could imagine being very irritated by this kind of random questioning.
@@walksthroughlife900 The players actually don't have to take that interview. The fact that most are still taking it means that they are okay with it or even enjoying it.

what about ding...
what about vishy
What about me?
brutally honest and cool guy. rare gem nowadays.
he is right about Hikaru still being a professional player
He's totally wrong. At this level what matters is not the number of online games you play but your preparation/study, he obviously knows that.
@@charles2521I'm sorry but I would trust Sasha and Fabi's opinion on the matter rather than yours. Both of them say it's ridiculous to call Hikaru "retired" or "not professional". I think they know what a professinal player is.
Sasha nailed it, he cracks me up when he doesn't even try. 😂😂
I believe that comedy is an art form that revolves around revealing the truth, so I think Sasha is funny because of his blunt honesty and sober view on things.
sasha + dina’s dynamic here is hilarious. for sasha he’s so naturally funny in the way that he is and dina looks like she’s trying so hard not to smile.
2:54 actually quite sad if you think about it
Naka may be 'retired' but as Grischuk pointed out Naka keeps in practice so there is no rust factor for Naka therefore making a distinction of amateur vs professional is moot.
There is something to ne said about Naka being engaged with chess EVERY DAY.
Sure it's probably not typical high level prep GMs do, but it adds up.
@@hq3473 i really think his streams helps him practice by evaluating "bad positions". We can similarly when he was doing puzzle rush. It seems that his playstyle revolves around eliminating wrong moves more, rather than finding the best move.
and I think Naka analyzes games regularly and mb explores some aspects of chess theory
Bro, I thought you retired from chess too. Good to see you back! Cheers!

@Raffi Boyadjian Oh, it doesn’t just depend on wins and losses? So to get a 1400 rating you have to take a test and give them proof of your IQ?
@Raffi Boyadjian You’re the one who said anyone with an average IQ is 1400 but I Dont see your comment I replied to. What happened
We all love Sasha. The more honest he is, the better.
He is such a calm wise man with very good attitude personality, not mentioning his hilarious aspect ofc
"He plays way more games than I do for example" 🤣 He was always super funny man, what is he talking about
Great answer by Sasha 👍
2:56
Grischuk: You don't say anything funny but people still laugh.
Dina: *don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh*
Hahaha!
This reminds me when Seinfeld tries not to be funny, "--is this funny, am I being funny? --yes! It IS funny!😡"
He is always a funny interview. You never know when he’s going to drop the punchline.
Man cemented his place in chess pop culture
This guy is the king of humour
He casually drops the russian word "кокетничать" (to coquet, to flirt) at 3:30 about Hikaru, knowing that Dina will get it since she speaks russian, but most of the audience won´t
Нe drops кокетничать for the lack of exact English equivalent.
Thanks ... I wondered what he said there
Not sure what he’s trying to say
More precise translation is "to pose"
I saw some people saying this is close to "mocking" in this context, is it?
😂 The fact that he was sincerely trying his best not to be funny ~ I found that funny AH 😂
I would pay subscription to see Grischuk and ivanchuk talking all day
LOL indeed!!
Yeah but in english
Somehow i can't remember Grischuk says thank you when interview is over
Thats cuz that girl is super cute
I feel the thank you was a response for the "hope you find time to rest" comment
Why do I always remember that funny video where he said "just don't blunder" or something like that whenever I hear his voice or see him in an interview like this lol gotta love this guy
Gryshuk:... . (🎶they see me rolling, they hating) 🕶️🚬
White and nerdy 🤔
Recently we saw Sasha doing commentary of the tata steel and world championship, but it was in Russian
We definitely want him doing commentary in english, everyone loves him
Im so happy I have learnt Russian for 10years. He is genius in commentary
@@gdkabsbdkwkwm4187 so did you learn what is кокетничать?
@@MrFackoffline it's a french word, they have it in English
Hikaru saying he's retired like he forgot how to play chess 😂
"27 is not so much." lol
Wow Arjun would be so happy seeing this interview
Alexander Grischunk - “27k is not so much”
Me a 600 rated player - “Yes, let’s get that 27k”
27k means 27000, not 2700
Nobody can reach 27000 rating.
for young strong talents 2700 is nothing unusual, they almost all can reach it. But 2750 is a barrier, they are often trapped in 2700-2720 or smth like that
2700!=27k.

Because we, Russians, do not care
@@tellurius4951 smart
@@tellurius4951 I envy you. I can't enter any restaurant as well, in this land of stupidity.
@@armynyus9123 I even have classes at the university, not online. Yes, we have 150k sick people a day, but being afraid of an omicron is like being afraid of a cold or a SARS. Not for us, the Russians, to be afraid of this nonsense
@@tellurius4951 Most people here who support the bullshit are also not really afraid of the virus itself, especially the young. I can't wait for Sascha to come and play in my country (Serbia). I hope he likes it there too :D.
He's kinda like the kimi raikkonen of chess
He is 😁 and I love the way he speaks and thinks. BTW she is 😍
What does the Russian word Grischuk said to describe Hilary's professional status mean?
he said Hikaru had coquetted/flirted by saying he is amateur :)
@@vitasokurova579 I'd say it's more like "being cheeky" or "tongue in cheek"
If he were to do a stand up special where its just him greeting and talking about his day I would watch it. Everyday
It's amazing Sasha has his own class😎😎
Can someone please translate the Russian word at 3:32?
To coquet. He was saying that Hikaru isn't serious about his "retirement"
@@gmdm9319 Thanks for the translation. (The point was obvious from what he said in English.)
@@gmdm9319 thanks,I wanted to know what that meant too.
@@vampireducks1622 glad you asked. Thanks.
It's close to "cheeky" in meaning.
This is called "vis comica" in Latin (amusing strength).
This is another natural gift 😂
He started with "ну, of course" and it was already funny.
grischuk's personality reminds me of coollerz, the Russian quake player, it's hard to explain but they're just very funny in a deadpan way, maybe without meaning to be lol
I've never hear her speak so softly, ever.
Турниры можно смотреть только если их комментирует Александр. Он гениальный комментатор.
Sasha's correct imo. All this Hikaru "hasn't played classical in 2 years" has been slightly exaggerated by his fans tbh. He's still super sharp, zero rust and super strong!
Well, it's true that he hasn't played classical for 2 years, but the fact is that most of the players had few games because of the pandemic, you can't really play classical not OTB, so it's not an Hikaru only situation. And also it was quite stupid to believe that someone who got past 2800 Elo in his life suddenly forgets how to play. He might not be number 2 in the world but he is absolutely still a top 20.
@@mabel3989 Very well put sir 👍
@@mabel3989 Not to mention he hasn't been number 2 in the world for over 6 years. It isn't like he dropped in ranking because of the streams. His rating had been in decline steadily since 2014.
2700 is not too much lol for normal people that sounds sooo insane
Hahaha different world isn't it
he's funny because he has almost no filter
Sascha appears to be a good dad. Hikaru can try to beat him on that level. But who cares? Hikaru is still only human and can say something whacky at times. Can someone call Jaa Rule? He can make sense of all this!
Wow never thought I would see a Dave reference here 😭
lol I found his initial expression hilarious
It's the way he says it bro, it's like if cement could talk
2700 not so much and I'm stuck on 1500 can't cross 1600😂😂😂
The ultimate trash talk. "I was just speaking truth."
what is the russian word he says at 3:34?
tease/show-off
"mock" or "tease" or "provoke", closer to "mock" I think. Basically Grishuk is saying that Hikaru is mocking everyone by saying he's retired
Кокетничать (coquet). In this case that means "to show off".
@@PretentiousStuff thanks ruski bro
@@zireael-7599 that doesn't make any sense
