I don't know who is complaining, I think this is a great video especially when you show how to put it back together thank you so much.
My saw purrs like a kitten now! Thanks so much for your video! Much appreciated l.
U have done an excellent job, perfectly explained, would say a better job than some of the professionals. Thank u 😊 ! Kyle Hall a name to remember
The junk on top of the metering diaphragm is normal as there is a breather hole on its cap which will allow crap in there? A little like in this vid wouldn’t have any effect. The other side and it’s membrane is the fuel pump! Crap between the membrane and the cap is normal. Unless it’s packed it won’t effect much. The only screw on the carb is for idle only. The screw is left hand threaded so it’s somewhat confusing. Screw out reduces idle and Visa Versa.
For anyone with a saw that bogs down, won't start, has no power, or stalls...look at the spark arrestor first thing. It is a a little metal screen on the muffler that gets plugged up with soot. I have had it happen several times on my MS170's and it seems to be a very common problem because carvers run their saws at half speed and create a lot of carbon buildup. I just remove them completely. I think Kyle has mentioned that before but it's worth repeating. Good vid Kyle👍.
I have thanks buddy . I might have forgotten to in this video
Kyle, I don't own a saw but love dismantling small machines and putting it back . Watching you cleaning the carb was fun and educational. 😊
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much. This walked me right through exactly what I needed to do. And even though you warned me, the spring shot across the floor. I was lucky and found it though. Chainsaws running like a champ now.
Thanks again
Whoever serviced that carb before, did a great job on the re-build, using nail polish to seal the quelch plugs.
Ha oem sealant is all that’s in there
Grreat Vid....maybe it's just me... his voice is like a carbon print of Dan Ackroyd doing the Blues Bros
I been told the Bob Ross vibes in some other videos lol
Great video and very simple to understand, i will watch this again if and when i run into the problem!!

You’re welcome!
thank you very much for this - extremely helpful, my 170 now running really well. BTW here in UK the carb retaining nuts are 8mm! Thanks again.Martin
You’re welcome. Glad I could help .
Thank you
Kyle is a modest GUY, Damn good video......only thing you didn't share was the coffee used.
Thanks you .... It’s Folgers lol
Hey Kyle, I watched this video twice. Now tomorrow I'm going to tackle four MS 170s that get used hard in my business and are all running like crap. When I've taken them to the Stihl dealer in the past they just install new carbs and plug and charge me a 100 bucks or so. Gonna see if I can save some $$ here. A damn informative video so I subscribed and look forward to watching more! One other thing I'm going to do is blow backwards through the fuel line to clean that filter out. Doug from the boondocks in Trinity County CA.
Thanks Doug . Take your time and good luck man . Also once you get into it you’ll how easy it is to pull a carburetor off your self . So if you wanted in the future you could order carbs from the dealer and swap them out .
That's how it's done!
many times amateures are much much better than professionals, because they are hunting joy not profit!
thanks for doing this.
You’re welcome hope it helps
it did. I've had it ten years and never had to think about it. Lent it to my daughter and it stopped. taking the carb out and apart as described and it works as before. I think I wasted money buying a spark plug. They cost ten times more than the last time I'd have bought one in the late 1980s. guess the money is worth 90% less today.

Everytime I use mine always something time for a different unit
My boyfriend didn’t say thank you😂
😂
The problem is your air filter is that you may have an aftermarket or badly manufactured cover as the top cover is supposed to be seal around the outside edge of the filter,I noticed there is no impression of the top cover on the rear of the filter. It should be clearly visible right around. Also, you are using an aftermarket air filter which doesn't fit properly and is not as rigid as the Stihl part.
Does the tiny “bubble” piece bulge up or down when reassembled? I put it together “bulge down” and wanted to make sure that’s correct.
Looks like the only thing you forgot to list under the video was the Kitchen sink and Donyboy's link.
Taz man thanks for the reminder. Donyboy73 link is now there and so is the kitchen sink ! Lol
Hi how are today bro.i got problem taking off my carb.mine are the same model. For the first time. Is there anything néed to remove. It seems it stuck. It won't slide out. Hope you can help. Much appreciate
It sounds like the linkage for the throttle and choke are still attached.
Thanks bro.just remove my carb.i hope it will be ok. I clean the carb.yeah it got some saw dust inside. Thanks bro.your video it's really help.thank you
It's pronounced Still not Steel 😉, but I do like your video and it's helped me a lot 👍🏻
The whole point of pulling a carb apart is to clean the jets bro.
