OK so I have 2 of these. The older one has just turned 10 years old and been serviced every 12000 miles for all its life. It’s now covered 205000 miles. It’s on its original engine, gearbox, EGR, DPF, Injectors, Turbo, clutch and DMF. Just had the starter motor replaced and the job cost £189. It handles like a well sorted hatchback on a B road, refined on a motorway and returns 50mpg. Fold down the seats and it’s like a van. With them up it’s a mini bus. The Swiss Army knife of cars
had our s max for about 3 weeks now and love it. Fast 2.0 TDCi, better than any of the other diesel 7 seaters. The kids love the 2 back seats and in their boaster seats they fit great. I keep the middle middle seat and middle drivers side seat folded down and use that area for any extra shopping if we can't get it in the boot. Tons of space in the front and is super comfortable with height adjustment on the drivers seat. Loads of room for my partner too. Titanium has a fair few features, I would have liked the Titanium X 2.2TDCi but I only had my area to buy in and S Max's seem thin on the ground in the for sale market round here. Great car and I would recommend over the competition every time. If you really need big with full size seats all round then go with the Galaxy which is a master of space.
The suspension on that thing and fuel consumption makes it to be one of my favorites!Good power ,elegance and comfort ,all in one!I believe 5 seats is enough for S max .After that you have enormous boot and enough space for everything. Is a vehicle with allot of automation ,computers etc.Helps allot in traffic difficult situations .All you need is good maintenance !
After watching this video we decided to buy a 2013 S Max. We love it, and so do the grand children. In fact they argue who is going to sit in the rear most seats! As stated in the video the rear most seats are probably not so good for anyone over 5 feet tall? The large wide opening doors are very good and the under floor storage in the boot and the left hand floor inside.
I have the titanium 2.0 ecoboost with powershift and 240 ps. Let me tell you, after the wife and kids are off the car and im all alone, it becomes an amazing sports car, with endless power and torqe. The only downside to it is on slow speeds the gear vibrates a little, but i got use to it after some time. Very recomended for a familty guy that still loves driving!!!
Have the same, yes great to drive, considering, but a propper sports car (cornering, weight transfer etc. It us far if, yet after a FiST and FoST it's more comfortable, practical, safe and spacious/versatile yat a great drive. 😊
@Atheistprimate You've misunderstood my fried. You see, some Fords are made in Europe for the European market, and some are in the US for the American market. Cars like the Ford Mondeo, the Ford Focus, Ford Fieste and these MPV's are made in Europe, and they're mainly for the European market. Cars like old Mustangs, and large pick-up trucks, are made in the US. But there are also European cars that are made in the US. BMW X3, X5 and X6 (all their SUV's) are some examples.
Built like a Mondeo and I love my Mondeo so that's a good thing. :) How something that weighs 1.6 tonnes can turn in so well staggers me each and every day.
@ 3:09, you plonker Matt, they do fold neatly, but you just did it wrong, you forgot to fold down the seat squabs first, then you drop the seat backs, they go flat to the floor. Hence why it is called the fold flat system. Also, stop comparing the larger Alhambra to the S-max, the Galaxy comptes with Alhambra and Sharan.
I like the new swooping side windows combined with the understated rear wing, the small fins on the sides too, nice design touches. it's certainly the best looking mpv out there imo. but the front skirts are far too big and shouty, it makes it look weird, I hope thats an extra.... afterall it's still an mpv and not a supercar.. there are limits.
@MacGyver920 In Australia we have a mix of european, american and australia designed fords. We have the fiesta, focus, mondeo, escape, territory(australian built 7 seater suv) and falcon (australian built sedan) we dont get the smax or cmax people movers because we have the territory
@datboiwes333 Wooo!!!! Make sure to get a Polestar power upgrade from Volvo! It comes for the C30/S40/V50/C70/S60/XC60/XC70/S80!!! The 5 cylinder T5s get 23 more HP and 30 extra pound feet, the 6 cylinder T6s get 25 more HP and 30 extra pound feet. T5+250 HP & 273 pounds feet of torque and T6s= 325 HP and 355 pounds feet of torque. All without messing up warantee and not reducing MPGs!
quite funny when you mentioned the airbag for the knee... often, in a crash with this car, it is the only airbeg that goes off! pushing the drivers feet off the pedals aswell as protecting the knee
@Atheistprimate While I REALLY agree with you about Ford in general, the Mustang is a steal for the price. It has a 300hp BASE V6 engine, 36 (imperial) mpg, with great new updated looks. Yet Mustangs start at $22,500 (14,400UK) and a nicely equipped one goes for $25k (16k UK pounds). Note that a Focus in Britain STARTS around 14k UK. Mustang > Focus.
@MacGyver920 In the middle part of America you are correct. Most people in the mid-west buy either American cars or Japanese cars. But on the coastal cities of America (NYC-LA-Seattle-Miami-ect.)we wouldn't be caught dead in an American car. American cars have very low status amongst us "Blue State" people. I can personally say that there are a shitload of new Audi A4's and A6's in NYC right now. The new 5 series is also selling really well over here.
I drove one of this, but the 2.0tdci engine... Very nice car, lots of power, and sometimes you don't even notice how powerfull it's because It's so quiet.,Ups! I'm doing 85mph..
@Atheistprimate they are now with the new Focus and Fiesta, why they waited so long is anybody's guess? European Fords are nice well made reliable cars and generally rate higher in tests than GM's Opels.
I own an s- max 2007 .1.8 tdci.the only complaint i have got is the cheap plastic inside. This one newer model looks better... otherwise car is perfect and drive is top nosh
Please how do I start the engine. My uncles wanna give me his.. But has been off for awhile now. And need to be charge or something. How do I get it up and running please I need guild asap. Thanks
It's handsome indeed, and at last a video/picture that shows the boot space with the rear two seats folded. A good dog owners car that enjoyable to drive. Shame Ford Europe don't use better stronger automatic transmissions like Aisin. The standard 6F35 ford/gm auto box is probably just about OK but the Getrag Powershift sounds like a nightmare that you cannot rely on. And dual mass flywheels on all the manuals no doubt.
@Poler777 Uhh like I said... just google the top selling luxury brand in the US, it has been BMW since 2008. The 1 & 3 series have helped a lot with that.
@Atheistprimate You must understand that Ford is a very unique company in that its split into more divisions... like american division, australian division and european division. And even though all cars share the ford brand, they develop their cars separately (american and australian division share some parts like engines, but european is completely separate), thats why european fords are nothing like american fords, its like looking at 2 completely different, separated car companies.
@Atheistprimate Well, this car is fully developed in germany, by european engineers for european market. Thats the reason why its not sold on US market, it has nothing to do with american division of ford, same goes for all fords sold in europe. The only european fords sold in US are fiesta and focus, nothing else.
@Atheistprimate true, but honestly how many americans would pay 30k+ for a car thats a lot smaller than some other mpvs you have there in the states? it all about money ford probably thinks and they did do a calculation if it would be worth it to sell it in the americas
@Atheistprimate Those 3 divisions have always been completely different in philosophy of car making. American and Australian Fords have always been slightly leaning towards muscle cars and/or trucks. European ford on the other hand has always been related to motor sports, rallying, racing, etc., they always made great driving cars....that why new european fords drive so well, because their engineers have experience with making rally and racing cars. And looks / quality are on european standards.
@datboiwes333 That's actually not true. Lexus is the best selling luxury brand in the US. It's not even that close. I live in NYC, and in Manhattan you will see a Benz/BMW/Audi on every block, but even here the RX /ES/LX/LS outsell even the ubiquitous A4's.
@MacGyver920 Like I said I actually live in the US and I see European cars everyday, and have family members that own Euro cars. I'm trying to have my next car be a Volvo, so yeah that's how it is and end of story.
I'll say this is a nice looking car but I have a Mazda 5 and the back seats are a little bit better than this S Max. Plus I get Sliding doors instead of regular doors which makes it easier to load when in tight spaces. But again this is nice and if I have the money maybe I might consider getting one to complement my Mazda5.
I like the S-MAX very much but unfortunately the front passenger seat is the most uncomfortable I've ever sat in because of the horribly uneven and sloping floor there. It's impossible to find a sitting position good enough for a trip lasting more than 15 minutes. Even the salesman had to agree (with a "Whoa, never thought about that. You're right!" and an embarrassed look on his face). If you care about your front passengers, look elsewhere, for example at the quite similar Peugeot 3008.
What are You talking about. Have driven more then 30 different nofrl for longer tours, many luxury and S-max may not be MOST confortable, but very good, enjoyable and confortable it very much is!
@@ivanrodic2704 10 years ago when I wrote that comment, I was talking about the passenger seat. More specifically the sloping floor in front of the passenger seat where the passenger keeps his or her feet. The driver's seat was perfectly comfortable.
the S-Max in white, with tinted rear windows with nice alloys is one of the best looking cars ever! it looks extremely smooth!

Our family bought an S-Max today. Strongly recommended :)

How'bout now?
