From your conversation with your guest Maulana, it is clear that our establishment has been involved in political engineering on province and federal level for decades. They are in touch with almost all political parties and groups within those parties and use them for political gains to the establishment. It is definitely a full time job. How come our generals take out time to devote to their professional responsibilities related to defense of the country. If they are able to do both with optimum efficiency, then let us split the time they give to political maneuvering and professional responsibilities. If it is 50/50, then we should immediately reduce by 50% the strength of our generals so that they should only perform the professional duties. There are reports that India is rejuvenating its armed forces and has reduced to 1/4th the total job time with army. It means they will replace their older army with young, technically and educationally more competent soldiers. It is a very good example, since our tail is very heavy (we have 50% more generals) and almost all over 50 years of age, we should retire these generals, reduce the term of service with army, hire young, educated and technically competent persons at officers level. The budget which we spend on salaries, allowances, accommodation and pensions should be spent on more extensive training of army personnel and equipping our defense with latest arms.
