Happy to say I've met this bloke twice. Top bloke. Love this band. One thing I love is how Josh's approach to the instrument is different to what I'm used to. He strums. I'm usually not a fan of that. But this guy has forced me to reconsider what I like in heavy music.
Lol of course we can hear it. It's supposed to be pronounced since it's a "guitar playthrough". Common sense tells you it should be louder for namesake 😂
Since we're here to see him play we'll leave the genius composer he is on a side for a sec ... his hands are incredible .... the work he does with both it's crazy ... there's some sort of percussive way he uses the instrument ... and the speed-precision is silly ... great man, great composer and great musician ... yes .. like many said - VERY underrated
Eb. But the bass is five string with a drop Ab, really beefs up the inverted fifth power chords at times (forced gender breakdown for example). Good to see an extreme band with some genuine orchestration!

atomicbrain9401 On closer inspection, it's not a dishcloth but some kind of critter with tiny hooks on its body that enable it to cling on while a central stem bores into the brain of the host & feed..or not
I'm sure he uses a mix at times but I just saw them 3 days ago and he was playing through a head from Baron Amps (they were a custom amp builder, I think they may have closed shop though.) You can see the same head in their studio play-through of Mammals In Babylon and Pacific Grim. Edit: It's way more visible in the Mammals playthrough, FYI.
Alden Bradstock that's really cool. He doesn't use a ton of gain like most bands. The amps gain must be voiced cleaner and the rest comes from his attack and pickups. Unique tone though I must say. Love those squeals he does too. Signature of his.
@@nicolasreny221 I'm not denying he can play the song, but I'd rather see a live version, even with worse sound and a few slip-ups here and there. If I want studio produced stuff, I just play the album.
I don't know what kinda weird ass leaf guitar he's playing. But I love how there's no volume knob on that sucker, it's just killswitch on pickup switches it looks like. Which is awesome, I hate the placement of the volume knob when I'm playing metal. That shit gets in the way.
Thanks for the upload, but, in my opinion, it's not really a guitar playthrough if the song is dubbed over a video. We'd like to hear the guy "playing" if at all possible? Just saying...
It's not often possible, and bands don't always have the means/time to re-record a track for a youtube video. Think of it more as a demonstration of how the song is played.
I appreciate the response. Of course I prefer this over nothing. It's really just nit picking after all. These songs are awesome/super complex and that's why I would personally love to see a more traditional playthrough video. I say traditional because it's what seems to have been established by all this free quality content we are getting on UA-cam, the spoiled brats that we are. You should really appreciate the fact that I am creative enough to find a way to complain and nitpick over details on free content. It takes both dedication and bravery.
Unfortunately this is how all "playthroughs" are nowadays. My thing is as long as I can see he's playing the right notes at the right time then I am satisfied because I know that if he really WAS playing it then it would sound right anyway. He's playing the actual song the right way, it's just not HIS guitar that we are hearing unfortunately. Like Metalblade said..."demonstration" is definetly the right word for it.
This band is ridiculously good I don't get caught up on labels on different types of metal nobody has time for that 🌰 in my opinion I would say cattle decapitation is better than suicide silence all shall perish and all those other bands by a long shot I think they're even better than White chapel all around it's not just the drums and all that this band has the best singer for this type of music he's not just one-dimensional I don't want to pick a favorite cattle decapitation song from any album cuz they're all good but if I had to I would say the kingdom of tyrants would be the song I listened to the most and I like the video the extended version mini film it scared the 🌰 out of my kid who is seven years old I made him watch it right before as punishment for not doing his chores
This guitarist is so underrated.
Hellyeah. Defnt one of my favorite
I'm saying
That's an understatement my friend
Couldn’t agree more. Truly a top-tier guitarist who deserves way more credit
🔥🔥🔥
dudes rocking the "Butters haircut" hard!
Oh hamburgers.
Everyone knows it’s Butters!! “That’s me”!
I want Butters guitar!
I like to pretend that Butters is rocking the Josh Elmore
@@Johnny2Drinks that broke me!!!😝
This is one of my favorite songs of all time!
Such an underrated guitarist

Wish I could hear the guitar better :/
Gregory Henry I know, right? The mix is incredibly difficult to hear... Kind of wish they would do playthroughs without the backing track.
They did the same thing with their bass play through a couple days ago
I can hear it just fine. And I could hear the bass in the bass playthrough perfectly fine too so idk why everybody is having so much trouble lol
Lol of course we can hear it. It's supposed to be pronounced since it's a "guitar playthrough". Common sense tells you it should be louder for namesake 😂
The guitar is buried. That is why. You can't hear the riffs well. Poor mix.
Absolute favorite song off Anthropocene Extinction!
The mechanical-like accuracy and precision is incredible
yo from like 3:00-4:00 mcgraw is going so hard wtf
In my opinion, his best work is on “Pacific Grim”. It’s my favorite song because of his playing.
Those agressive picking are brutal af!
In few months , I have found that bengalis love metal....🤘🤘😄😄
2:28 oh My f*cking god... that musical and lyrically speaking part is a tremendous blow to the face.
My life as of late is Cattle playthroughs...so thanks for the vid! One of thier best songs!
Raise the guitar track or lower the backing track! Simple!
It's crazy that a band this heavy isn't using dropped tuning
what tuning are they using?
Half step down from standard.
Eb. But the bass is five string with a drop Ab, really beefs up the inverted fifth power chords at times (forced gender breakdown for example). Good to see an extreme band with some genuine orchestration!
ikr and they sound heavier than most 7/8 string bands
yeah when i first heard them i thought they played in C# tuning (at least)
That hairstyle screams confidence and the playing justifies it. \m/

How about a drum play through next ??? We’d love this :)
That guitar looks awesome!!! It fits perfectly with the music aggressiveness! Looks like an Hell tool for destruction!
Sir Davos playing a progressive deathgrind song. Sweet!
euthanasie excuse me this is post-gut-rock grindfolk type C
Escuse me but it's like progressive post black deathmathmetal
I love the odd shape of the guitar 🎸
Is amazing !!! I love guys !!! Cattle decapitation.
Fav band off course!
Great song !!!
You guys have to play this on your next tour! This and Plagueborne!
fooldeth they played the entire Anthrop Extinction last last week
I really appreciate this kind of video, but I'd prefere the audio not to be so perfectly mixed and to hear the live played raw guitar.
How does he manage to grind so hard on guitar and also balance that tiny dishrag on his forehead like that?
atomicbrain9401 On closer inspection, it's not a dishcloth but some kind of critter with tiny hooks on its body that enable it to cling on while a central stem bores into the brain of the host & feed..or not
Brilliant stuff 🤘😎🤘
This guy is a machine.
Guys got a cool style. It's deathgrind with a hint of black metal but with melodic hooks. Intriguing to say the least. What amp/s does this guy use?

I miss the times when playthrough meant what it said
What did it mean, isn’t it literally just him playing the song

I LOVE!!!
You're a fuckin legend Josh🔥🤘
NOV. 8, 2017??? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS EXISTED???? AAAH!
what foam-thingy is that under the headstock?
Doesn't matter if it's a half step down from E standard he's still playing without his LOW Eb dropped which is absolutely nuts.
I just couldn't get into this one :( That last bass play through uploaded was sick As fuck brother
Are those blocks on the Head stock for elimination of buzz and feed back or for sustain or what?
Lawn Ranger Yes Sir. They dampen the sympathetic vibrations and allow for less noise during stalls.
Cool are they foam , rubber I haven’t ever seen that live is it mostly just for recording
it's foam. i have it on my guitar as well
My homie!! Much love
LEGENDARY
Nice

bartosso they aren’t vegan anymore and haven’t been for a while
The Hk Man Josh and Travis are still vegan
Any experienced players out there? Is he trem picking all the strings in those chords all at once? Looks like it
This mix is garbage. We need more guitar!
You fucking deaf?
More cow bell you twat.
I wanted a guitar solo.
Exactly, i had to put headphones on to ear it
That bass fill tho
