Chappers & the Captain go 60s tastic with the re-issued Bass VI guitars from Fender & Squier. Following in the quirky footsteps of the Pawn Shop range, the Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI is a modded version of the original. However, the Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI is a much closer reproduction in terms of looks & features.
Anyway... check out the video - hope you enjoy it. Make sure you check out the full spec of each guitar on the Andertons web site - there are several colours to choose from & the price of both guitars (basses?), especially the Squier, has to be seen to be believed!

In terms of amps, Rob was in the Marshall JVM210 & Lee was in a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe - no pedals!

Bought the Squire since I'm not a pro. And well, the block inlays are gorgeous!

I think in this case the Squier sounds and looks better then the Fender.

This is what I'm getting it for. I shutter at the thought of what insane sounds I could get out of it for the project I'll be doing

Hey guys, Can it be played through a guitar amp without damage or is a bass amp definitely needed?

they've been using that end jam for a bunch of reviews for a really long time. It's one of my favorites that they play

Or play it however you want, there are no rules. It's some wood with strings bolted to it that you hit and it makes noise, why would you get butthurt about how someone goes about using it?

I heard some string buzz on the Squier and possibly some trouble staying in tune but for $1,000 less I'd put up with it

I was hoping to hear what they thought about some of the pluses and minuses are for each guitar. More of a comparison

Uncanny. It's guitar, but it's also bass.

So I am thinking about getting my very first bass guitar. My 3 selections have been the Ibanez Saber Bass, Fender, and a Specter Bass. But now that I have seen Wolfgang Van Halen's Stealth Bass which is the Grey Stripes and Charcol or Flat Black colored Bass. I want one that looks just like Wolfgang's Grey Striped Flat Black Bass guitar. So tell me what bass is the best.

Epiphone didn't make LP Juniors in the 60's, maybe you meant Melody Maker?

WOW dude I never thought a Bass could ever sound like that. The last time I heard a Bass sound like that was when the Late Cliff Burton played the bass. I recently discovered that my fingers weren't geared towards the normal guitar which crushed my heart. But my friend told me that my fingers would be better geared towards a bass guitar.

Really late here, but nobodys fingers are geared to no instrument. You work around it and learn to play it. As simple as that. Hope you didnt give up on what you actually liked

enough my 1960's (as in that's when it was made) Epiphone Les Paul Junior (USA made) with the set of strings (big-little Ernie Ball) it has on it plus its humbucker pick-up (not original to the guitar) sounds just like these do when on the clean tone. its really odd. and the "real" guitar guys I know can't figure out why it sounds like that. and its like that with any amp on the clean channel.
the bass' look very similar to my 1970's Global Fender Strat knock-off (yard sale purchese for $50).

    THIS IS NOT A BASS ! THANKS ! :P
Read a bit more folks, this guitar was built essentially for surf rock guitar players who wanted a bass in their band but couldn't play it. So, you can plyay as a guitar and render a bass sound ! :D
    (Sorry for my bad english)

Gevalt For a guitar player the vlose stringe space is normal , the string spacing on a bass ferld v very unnatural , at least for me who have never played bass.

I think that's the point of this instrument tho- to bridge the gap between a regular bass and a 7-string guitar
