This show is an absolute masterpiece. How they give every important character a backstory, how good the script is, the music, all but the title song written for the show and performed by great artists. And the animation. Also they could make a whole cinematic universe out of this, because Piltover is just a tiny part of the whole lore. There are places similar to Ancient Rome (Noxus, where Mel is from), Asia, Middle Aged Europe, Norse, all with their heroes and villains to explore.
@@hollowbastion9372 yeah you’re right! I mixed it up with the fact that to my knowledge only ENEMY wasn’t written by riot themselves (Christian Linke).
*no-spoiler* This is a show where every detail counts, for example: In the beginning we see Jayce and his Mother, her fingers turned black from frostburn. Later when we see her talking to the council, she has "metal fingers" because she lost hers.
They definitely do an excellent job of worldbuilding for people, like myself, who had no familiarity with the source material for the show. It never does feel like an exposition dump, and really keep the focus tight on what's happening in the show while merely hinting at a much bigger world to come.
Spot on review. When it comes to writing, this show not only has great individual character development. It also brings up social/macro issues. You're starting to see some of them now with Vander's perspective on what's best for the underground. For topside, the ones currently pulling the strings are Heimerdinger and Ms. Medarda. You'll see more of how they see what's best for topside. I was looking forward to your reaction because I'm separated from my family, but sometimes I wish I could have my mom watch the show with me. This kinda fills that void because I get such a maternal vibe from you. Looking forward to next episode. It's gonna be a doozy. 🙃
It is an immense sign of good and realistic writing when you see a broken system and cannot find an immediate solution. Piltover and Zaun are so deeply stuck in this at this point that it is really a big question how on earth it's supposed to get resolved. If zaun Fights, best case Scenario, They win.Lots of People die on both sides, leading to new resentment from The Piltover side. Maybe They just switch roles, piltover becoming the slum and Zaun the Mighty Power. That's not a resolution just a perpetuation of what is already happening. Any kid of fight at this point will lead to nothing but Misery on both sides.
The Expanse, Battlestar and now Arcane, 3 masterpieces of media. This show is about to explode from this point on, hang on for a great ride and experience, this is just the beginning.
Tearing up at the end of episode 2. ....OH dear. By the time I am posting this, I see that episode 3 has already been posted. Guess I will find out soon if you ended up being ok 😅
It only gets better from here! Really enjoying this and your Supernatural reactions. Keep it up. :) A big request I have at the moment is The Expanse. I think that show would blow your mind, as it did mine, and it's truly a masterpiece you won't want to miss. You'll really enjoy the characters and it's so twisty!
That would just make my day if at one point one of her shows gets done and she has room for another show and she just randomly posts The Expanse 1x01 Reaction I'm wating for that moment!
If you think you're getting hit in the feels now...This is from a 50 year old dude, this show is a revelation on every level. Do NOT stop here, things only ramp up from here.
You are the 1st reactor to pick up on Vi bieng more protective of powder BECAUSE if her talents and wanting her future secured. Powder ahould be working with Jace.
It's maybe an odd thing to like, but I really appreciated the raw and unedited review at the end. I get so tired of jump cut editing that chops out every tiny bit of dead space. This was just really refreshing.
I think a good way to describe what Vander is doing is not fighting battles that have no chance to improve the situation. No spoilers but keep that in mind as events progress and how it affects the average person.
The serie starts on the 03rd episod. But from start to the end in that serie everything is important and is a clue for the storytelling; nothing is useless, everything is nicely and meticulously done (characters, relationship, town personification, music soundtrack, atmosphere, graphism, color, fight chorégraphy scene, tender scene, issues, plots narration, magic...)
Again, I am SO GLAD you are reacting to this show. I love character driven material as well and I really do love how you connect with characters in shows and I am so interested in how you'll feel about the events as they unfold. No spoilers, but I'll warn you that the next episode is emotional.
My recommendation is that...if you continue watching...you should rewatch the episode immediately prior to the newest one you're about to watch. This show has a lot to unpack, and it can be easy for some people to miss things in some of its more powerful moments (and there are plenty). . Nothing in this show is disposable. No meaningless characters (though not all are integral), no throwaway lines. Everything has some sort of payoff at some point, is connected to something. It's really worth going back, after you've "enjoyed" it on an emotional level, and rewatch each episode right before its followup episode, so it's all fresh, and so you catch as much detail as possible.
We can see in this episode what social scars can do. Look the enforcers. That patrol Pilltover, the overcity, have light and civilized weapons, are enough naive to be fooled by a bunch of kids fleeing and reasonable, gentle about the people that are imprisoned. The enforcers that patrol Zaun, the undercity (with exception of the Sheriff), are rude, ruthless and cruel, they don't care to show how they hate undercity people. They use masks to three reasons: (1) because the air on undercity in dense, smells bad and is to much heavy to newbies breath, (2) to make them more threatening and... (3) Is symbolic: they just don't want to breath the same air than undercity people.
I'd love to get a post series analysis about everything. You're making such points already that others never even see. I want to know who you think the heroes are at the end. Who the villains are. Just everything. Also you've probably seen it anyway but episode 3 is going to mess you up. Also nothing in animation is accidental. It had to be placed. And Arcane has very few mistakes.
Animated show request, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It’s about two boys who try to use alchemy (basically magic mixed with chemistry) to bring their mother back to life. They fail and in the process the older brother loses an arm and a leg and the younger brother loses his whole body and is now a soul possessing a suit of armor. The series follows the two trying to find a way to get their bodies back but in the process learn the darkest secrets of alchemy, their nation’s history, and their family origins. It’s such a great series and is often listed as one of the best animes ever made.
Can I just recommend you have tissues on hand for this show. I think you're going to need them. As for Viktor, I won't say he's harmless, because practically no one in this show is harmless, but he has the best of intentions.

The title song "Enemy" was written for the show as well. That's why the music video is Arcane-centric. Every single song in the show was made for it.
@@hollowbastion9372 yeah you’re right! I mixed it up with the fact that to my knowledge only ENEMY wasn’t written by riot themselves (Christian Linke).
You made me realise that Powder could have been educated and made it into the top students of the academy like Jayce and Victor if she was born lucky.

with every episode this show gets better and better
Every frame of this show is good enough to frame and put on a wall. It's beautiful on every level.
The Expanse, Battlestar and now Arcane, 3 masterpieces of media. This show is about to explode from this point on, hang on for a great ride and experience, this is just the beginning.
You did Battlestar? I'll have to check those out. Take a few deep breaths before you watch ep.3.
Maybe we will get some titans next...
It makes me happy seeing Arcane mentioned in the same breath of another of my favorite shows, The Expanse... & I agree.
@@babette5918 She did not, just giving some hints.
Arcane is so much better than that...

In case you didn’t catch it or look it up yet, Jayce’s voice actor is Dan “Detective Douche” Espinosa of the show Lucifer.

I love the sentence "no-one wins in war"
This is shaping up to be a perfect Act 1.
I FORGOT HOW GOOD THE SORCERER’s ANIMATION WAS
Arcane means something mysterious. But nowadays it is used to either mean Magic as a whole or a spezific (usually non-elemental) form of magic.
"I'm feeling things for these characters." Oh, honey. Ohhhhhhh... honey.... Oh, I'm nervous to watch your reaction to next episode.
No puedo esperar para tu reacción al siguiente episodio uwu
