A convertible with a tonneau over the back seats is not a fastback. Another feature of the Roadster Package was removal of the rear fender skirts to give a sportier look. I do agree with you on the great styling of the '61-63's. Ford was so pleased after introducing the four-seat "Squarebirds" and seeing sales jump. However, I think the sales increase for Thunderbird was roughly equal to the sales decrease of Ford full-size 2-door hardtops. Also, wasn't the big 430 MEL engine offered in some 4-seat 'Birds?
I agree fastback is not correct terminology, just the first word that came to mind at the time, sometimes my mind blanks as I do the walk arounds. The MEL engine was offered on the 1959-1960 Thunderbirds as the 430 Special.
@@ClassicCars_TV I know what you mean about using the first word that pops into your mind. I do it too. Thanks for the video and the info on the 430 MEL V-8. I couldn't remember which years had that option.
I loved them more before I found out that the ArrowBird weighs as much as a Ford sedan. As for the motor, probably good for 400+ horsepower if the owner wasn't a poser and wanted to drive the car like it was meant to be driven. Hard, that is. It's a hot rod. Drive it.
Beautiful car
M code! More power even better!

"Holy carburators"? I'm guessing that you only k kw what you read.
It has 4 seats
Why can’t these multi million dollar auction houses hire “car guys“, instead of wannabes?
