  • This episode of The Verso Podcast was recorded live at our sell-out event at the Union Chapel on July 26th, in partnership with Jacobin magazine’s podcast The Dig.
    Eleanor Penny and The Dig’s host Daniel Denvir sat down with writer and academic Laleh Khalili and the freshly re-elected, newly independent MP Jeremy Corbyn to discuss the past, the present, and the future of Internationalism. Their fascinating discussion covered everything from Palestine, Congo and Iran, to the Labour Party, the welfare state, the climate crisis, and the economics of global trade.
    We’ll be sharing the opening act to this talk, hosted by Macrodose podcast, next week so subscribe for more!

    This has been a most engaging discussion. Thanks to everyone involved both on stage and behind the scenes enabling it to happen. Lots of positivity in a time when we are feeling ' up against the wall' so to speak concerning exploitations of the poorest of people for the acquisition of their country's mineral resources...such damage to both humans and the planet. The greed and ugliness of these big industries....The continuing horrors in .Palestine right now ...yes we are ALL Palestinian . Perhaps some people in the educational history departments in our schools will take on board some of your suggestions. Kids need the tools to know how to question, be inquisitive and to be offered a better political history education. We do need to build a cohesive and pro active global society where our opinions and protests are not only heard but are given attention and responded to in a constructive manner. Thanks again guys. 🙏🕊️🇵🇸🌍❤️

    When I watch, and listen, to Jeremy Corbyn speak, I am completely at a loss as to how he is not, still, the leader of the Labour Party .... and, moreover, how he is not Prime Minister of our country. I have complete disdain for the vast majority of " modern day " ( career ) politicians and I loathe SIR Kier Starmer, who is nothing but a puppet for the WEF and contradicts himself more than any other politician in the world. BUT I have even less time for those who vote for him ( and his like ) if, in fact, they do ? ( as I also have zero trust in the legitimacy of our electoral process, and I despise anything " SECRET " which, should be totally transparent and available to everyone, if required, for intense scrutiny ) Jeremy speaks fluently, and with passion and empathy, without any notes or prompts. He is intelligent, articulate and has so much empathy and morality ........ oh yes, I suppose these are the very reasons is why he is not Prime Minister. All that is required for that role, these days, is zero morality, no empathy whatsoever ( for anyone or anything ) and be easily bullied ( or bribed ) by the corporate elite billionaires. I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion from all the speakers. God Bless every one of them 🙏

    The international sympathy with the Palestinians during the recent massacre in Gaza is the pinnacle of what the Palestinians and Arabs dreamed of, and as an Arab I believe that we have obtained what we have long wished for from the age of Palestinian suffering, but unfortunately this was achieved at the moment when the Palestinian and Arab voice was absent and the real discourse of the Palestinian cause was absent, which made the position of the Westerners who sympathize with the Palestinians confused when they do not criticize Hamas as they should, nor Hezbollah, although they do not represent the Palestinians, the Arabs, or the Muslims.

      They are not worse than what's going on in Gaza. The death toll in Sudan, which includes a large number of civilian casualties, , is the result (sum total) of a conflict BETWEEN TWO ARMED FORCES over a number of years. The toll in Gaza is the result of only 8 months, and not from a war between two forces, but from one side butchering mostly unarmed civilians.

    We must fully criticize and _always vote_ *against* (& less authoritarian than) both the Republican (Conservative) *and* Democratic (Labour) Parties- including *Kamala Harris,* AOC, all of the squad, Bernie Sanders, Edward Markey, Mark Pocan, the justice democrats, & all other democrats. Vote in every single election- at all levels. And also _endorse or anti-endorse,_ in all elections you can, for outside your voting jurisdiction.

    Real progressives will never be Democratic Members or Democratic loyalists. Never vote for _any_ Republican member or loyalist either.
    If no candidates for a position fit that bill:
    -Where _write-ins_ are permissible, always write-in an anti-authoritarian person;
    -Where write-ins aren’t permissible, always vote uncommitted or leave the ballot blank.
    This will continuously reduce the power of _all_ authoritarian parties in the party monopolies: Until our task is complete.
    Repeat strategy for all new authoritarian parties that emerge.
