  • Fitting Yellowspeed 6pot callipers and 330mm disc big brake kit to my Honda Civic ep3 type r. Also while we upgraded the front, fitted some re-furbished rear callipers also. the brakes are a great upgrade over the standard ones.

oh i also have replaced those brackets and the bolts etc i think was around £16-18 per bracket or at worst £22 and that excluded the bolts. All genuine from Honda. I bought the whole lot to do it so I could fit my HEL lines.

Amazing how bad condition they are. I will replace them at some point when I under seal it all to try and protect it. Make it live a bit longer

Surely you selected painted red calipers ? They were called Yellowspeed when you did this lol

Them discs come standard, on the teg website there’s no option. on the ysr website it’s an optional add on ?

Bizarre, it’s pretty much the same supplier anyway I think? Sure the ysr page is just tegiwa

Honda didn't paint the calipers on an EP3 from the factory. They are always a dull grey from new.

What was the performance like between this and standard?

They are much better. I’ve only driven the car spiritedly on B roads not on a race track but you can feel the improvements.

Thanks for the reply mate. Looking at charging mine within the next 6 months and I have oem fr and rear discs atm with stoptech pads. Trolled the Internet and you are the first one on here to put them on. I know they have dc5, megane rs 250 brembos, stoptech or buddy clubs and these. Seems like these are good value for money for the kit you get. You haven't got much left to do now have ya?

What if Disc Rotors are intended for “normal” (front) caliper position ? EP3 are not, as they are opposite (backwards) placed.
Notice calipers on this model are placed backwards.
What solves any Doubt on direction is Venting position to make air going IN or OUT (expell)
No difference on old Disc Rotors as venting are straight and new were mounted same shape (direction).
    Much difference
    Best Regards

Wheel still turns the same direction?

Thank You for taking time to read and answer.
Yes: spining is always same direction.
What I would like to mean is Calipers are marked R & L same as Rotors.
If I use R Caliper on Right side backwards position then bleeding nut points DOWN and same on Left side. So I has to place them opposite to have bleeding nuts UP. 17CL15VN
Well, I am guessing, same rule could aply to DIRECTIONAL Rotors (new ones) which really are directional as curved shape on vents show; NOT as old ones that weren’t but just drilled and sloted as if they were; vents are straight.
I guess NEW rotors were fitted for Calipers at FRONT; the only way to solve might be unscrewing and turning oposite side each to make them perform as intended for curved venting..
It’s japanese conception versus non-japanese construction. I guess.
      Best Regards

Ohh nic that ep3 needs put on a lift and given a real good pressure washing and fresh coat of under seal the amount of road dirt on that is killing me

    • @1BlueGhost
      @1BlueGhost  3 роки тому

Indeed! Once I get another car it will get a good scrub up and under seal. It’s the roads up here over winter destroys cars.

The way the prices are heading on these cars it’s worth fixing them up and looking after them.
