The very nice result tells us that you have done everything right. Great work. 👍 I use a bit lighter colours for the jacket and webbing: German camo beige and medium grey. And after the wash I take a short cut and mix up the tidy up and highlighting using the base colours. In 15mm the insignias can be simplified. i.e. the US flag - if I remember correctly only the paras had it(?) - can be a red rectangle with a little blue rectangle in the upper left corner. The wood of the entrenching tool can also be painted in green. I mean if there is something you can rely on: The US Army calls everything "M1" and paints everything green. 😅
Thanks a lot mate and those are some great colours you use. I might have to steal them going forward 😉 Great point on the Insignia but at 15mm is it worth all the effort? I guess that's up to the individual (nutters).
Your fellows look great, but because of the "scale effect", I actually have a little cheat I use for 15mm to save a lot of time and get the same effect. I don't paint in the usual base color, then wash, layer and highlight. I just basecoat the areas with the highlight colors, then I hit the mini with a straight wash (I'd use Agrax Earthshade or Strong Tone for these colors). When the wash is dry, you have shading comparable to the intended base colors, natural highlights, and lots of definition. Give it a try some time! They won't come out quite as nice as your method, but if you want to put a platoon (or especially a company!) on the table, it's a great technique.
Really nice result - using Khaki Grey for the webbing is a solid tip.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks mate 🤩🤩
Excellent paintguidey
Thank you so much 😀
