    Amazing what they can achieve with old and worn machines, but it is clear that everything is machined out of true, with the workpiece swaying about in the Chuck and the “tool” being made out of some sort of scrap that has to be re-sharpened every few minutes. The gear tooth cutter that is actually bent is amazing, but the best part is the young boy lubricating the work with a soda bottle full of….. something. I think that they are very skilled in making the best of what they have, and when Putin bombs us all back to the Stone Age, they will be the survivors.

    • @VincesEngines
      @VincesEngines 2 роки тому

      I must agree with you they are very skilled people that can turn out great work with the limited tools they have .I don't think the gear tooth cutter is bent but the spacers holding it are running out of true and give the illusion that the shaft is bent.

    • @xl000
      @xl000 2 роки тому +1

      @@VincesEngines which part of the video makes you think they're very skilled ?
      Just to be clear, they're using used US made milling machines Kearney & Trecker Corp branded.
      All you have to do is lock the work piece in place and read the user manual to turn the correct levers. There really not much more to it.
      The hard work was made by the people who designed the milling machine.

    I'm confident that this people does his best, but that best is under an acceptable minumum. Moreover they don't understood how a lathe works, how to hold a cutting tool, how to handle a measuring instrument, the cutting tool sharpening is simply horrible: should I have done such a kind of things, my machine tool teacher would have kicked me in the ass through the whole workshop.
    One thing is to make a metal piece, another is to make a gear: looking how it was machined and how it must work with a roller chain, I see a short life for both. With good peace of the gear builders.
    A note for Publisher: looking the burrs resulting from milling, the steel is all but not hard.
