My heart goes out to Sam Cane and the All Blacks. I am a South African, and that decision to send him off was bollocks. No malice in the tackle. Yellow card, at best. Totally changed the game. Nevertheless, The All Blacks were truly heroic and scored tries. I think they deserved more. Huge Respect.

NZ were colossus with only 14 men nearly the entire match. They could have still won. Maybe NZ will regret not taking a kick at a crucial time in the game. Honourable speech. But no reasons to be aggrieved - red card was spot on, these are the kinds of impacts World Rugby is trying to rule out, and rightly so. Go back 35 years to my day and these happened all the time unpunished - ended my playing days at just 29 yrs old.

@@johnegan9521 That's your opinion - fair enough. Personally, I like the transparency we have in the game now. Years ago, refs had no accountability at all. Now everything is assessed, and officiating team not only explains their decisions (incl. if a mistake), but more importantly give running commentaries in real-time on the field to try to help players not infringe and so keep the game flowing. Barnes did this really well last night (I still feel that Nigel Owens was the best at this, even in the early days). No doubt in my mind that it was a close game and the right result.

Yes. ABs game play somehow does not encapture field goals.. Dan Carter was an anomaly...when presented with an opportunity, he took it.. twice in the RWC to the finals!
In this one, RM, JB or BB could have taken one or two when that one or two opportunities presented instead of that usual ruck in the middle bargeball rubbish!
& them kicks missed are points lost! Very costly in tight games!

I think the concussion saga has Rugby, MMA and American football seriously rattled. The lawsuits are piling up, and clearly World Rugby are cracking and sending harsh messages in light of contact to the head area that could result in concussions. Not sure what the right answer is. Obviously no one wants to aee this happen but we also have to get concussions under control. Not sure what the right answer is, but we see the mass and kinetic energy of players having massively increased in the last couple decades, and concussions are becoming more serious and more common. Not sire what the answer is, really.

SA also played a man down for much of the match with three yellow cards, so I don't know what Cane's bleating about the stats make it obvious he didn't do much. The ABs were more than lucky to beat Ireland and except for a blind ref allowing Beaudon Barrett to lie all over the ball to set up the winning try, they wouldn't have.
