- Clovelly is a timeless fishing village in North Devon, steeped in history and nestled amongst the cliffs.
It has narrow cobbled streets, gleaming white cottages and a beautiful harbour.
The historical village of Clovelly was the childhood home of Charles Kingsley, the Victorian author of the famous novels - Westward Ho! and The Water Babies. The village is home to two chapels and a preserved fisherman's cottage as well as the Charles Kingsley museum.
Clovelly is to steep a village for motor vehicles, as such - Donkeys are the preserved method of travel and sledges are used for the transportation of goods.

Yhana loves UA-cam, Ice cream, theme parks and the Romans.

Only visited years ago as a teenager (50 years ago). I only remember walking down to the Harbour and back. There seems more to enjoy now with cottages and museums as well as walks that are signposted. Interesting to accompany you around the village.

I felt like traveling 150 years back in time when I took the steamer to Clovelly, cool 1811 and 1846 chapels, also the 1930 cottage with the socks and attic area looks super cool!

It's a great little village. I love exploring places like these especially when they have museums and historical buildings to explore as well. I enjoyed seeing all the artifacts especially that lantern - very cool. Great tour Stephen!

Beautiful village, all the white washed buildings and walls make the flowers really pop. We don't build places like this any more, it's shame but so glad to see places that keep up their heritage. Can't say I've read any of his books but it's interesting to see how he lived.

Clovelly is such a pretty and picturesque village. I haven't been there for many years and would love to revisit. Home to some wonderful museums too by the looks of things. I really loved the fisherman's cottage in particular. Great video, Stephen. Thank you for taking us along with you 😊😊❤

Loving the cobbled roads, beautifully preserved! You managed to get some great shots without people on! I suppose the admission price keeps the riff raff out! Lovely little chapel, feels like walking around a film set! Its great that you can go inside so many places! Will have to put this place on the list! Such a great place to explore!
