- Does your #dog do this too? Probably. After all, us dogs are super smart and also #dachshunds maybe especially, are manipulative and we know how to train our owners to give us treats - such as this incredible tactic of asking to go outside over and over just so we can get a cookie everytime we come back inside!

Glad I was warned about treats for going out. But I do give treats when I leave the house, so he lets me know when he thinks I should leave. 💜

Not only did my dog learn this, but he went into the bathroom with you and when you came out, he expected a cookie. He didn't care who went to the bathroom He wanted a cookie as a reward.

Oh my dog.. 😆😆 mine follows me in an watches me then on walks he literally backs up into a bush (where I can’t get it out usually) and does his thing.. he looks at me after as if to say. I can do it like you mom now give the goods up 🦴 😆😆.
Mine starts running through all his tricks when he wants to do "Tricks for Treats". Cracks me up! When we're finished he gives me kisses! Love him so much!
They are smart and loves to get loves mine just gives me those eyes and then I get yelled from the vet🤪🤪
My Mr. Man will sit and just stare at the cookie jar and not look at me till after I offer him one .. sometimes I think he thinks if he stares long enough.. a cookie will jump out and offer itself to him 😆😆.

Not the cookie part, but the scratch o go outside. The best part is I taught my dog 17 years ago, she taught the next dog we got and so on. It's so funny how dogs can learn from each other!
OMG yes. My 2 chihuahuas want a treat every time they come inside. And any time one of them Earns a treat, everyone Gets a treat. That is the 1st Law of Treats!
Same with my Dachshund.
...and Second Law of buying dog toys. I can't just buy one of the same toy. I tend to buy 2 or 3 of the same toy for the 3 family dogs (my own one who lives w/ me & other two at my family's house)

I never copied..
We have doggy doorbells on the ground so the dogs don’t scratch the door and when we first taught them, they associated the bell with treats so they would ring the bell and then wait for treats 😂
Also, when my GSP was a pup, she would squat and pretend she was peeing to get treats.
My dogs are too smart lol
Growing up, I had a cocker spaniel who pretended to pee for the praise and treats!!! 😂❤️

Absolutely! When mine was little, she would go outside & bark. My 2 big dogs would run out to see what she was barking at. She'd run back in, grab their toys, and take them to her crate. If they came close she'd back them up with a growl. Took the big guys months to figure out what she was doing.

Our Suzie 'helps' with the washing up (she lies down by our feet) and expects a treat at the end. She and the other two know that when we come in with bags of shopping they get a treat - they stick their heads in the bags . . "Whadda we gots?"

Oh, yes that trick🤔. My parents dachshund did that also. She also learned to go to my father and mother for a treat when she was let in. She knew if mom was in the kitchen, she could get a treat for coming back in, then dad would give her a treat in the living room, But, if I was visiting she added me to her plan 🤣. They are smart.

Same here. My 2 year old cockapoo sniffs in my work bag to see if I brought any treats or food home. But he almost always expects something for himself whenever I come home from the grocery store. He's trained me well 😆

My Doxie pie named Benjamin has learned that he can get 2 cookies out of us if he just poops half first. He gets his cookie and runs back and drops the other half. Smart, sneakier little dogs!

My two have learned this trick really well. They also have perfected their nighttime routine. They go to all 3 of their humans separately and ask for their bedtime cookie. They will get 3 cookies that way. We’ve caught on to their tricks. 😂

Beka (female chiweenie) must have a dog bone treat after our supper. I'm busy washing the dishes and she stands there eye balling me and sometimes a woof to remind me that she is waiting. Next, we retire to the family room, me to the couch and she will sit directly in front of me and if I don't catch on, will with a very sharp Woof, announce that it's time to chase her around the couch. This occurs every night without her ever forgetting. There's a routine for going to get the mail, taking the trash out, taking the trash cans to the street and bringing the trash cans back from the street. She loves to make new games. She's family!
