Indigenous paying for the firefighting? They want control of the land but taxpayers cop the cost of putting fires out in "thier" land. Use your cultural methods to put it out
Indigenous were masters of managing the country such as using fire. Go blame governments that disallow the use of fire to control the build up of fuels like undergrowth.
Too little too late...as always...no backburning during winter...same disasters, different year!!! What started the fire!!! Dont go rock climbing folks!
Lightning by all accounts. We had one a few years back and we're surrounded by open farmland. It still ripped through the area at a pace that was hard to believe due to the wind. Maybe you're just repeating the same social media rubbish we keep seeing?
CFA states they conducted the largest amount of hazard reduction (& it’s not called “backburning” - that’s something totally different) on record this last year. Very clearly demonstrated that there was lightning & storms last week, one of which strike started these Grampian fires
Lightning “by all accounts” .. poor troll bloke can’t help itself. Shill better. Mister spontaneous combustion doesn’t get a mention any more ? Story change is still your crowds’ problem .,
It feels like it wants to rain today, i wish it would just get on with it. Its giving me such a headache. Please God throw the waters down hard and soon.
Well he certainly doesn’t know his North South East West … Pomona’s is NORTH of the fire, Halls Gap is NORTH WEST of the fire … so how about we alert towns SOUTH of the fire while the Northerly wind is going on and EAST when it shifts to the Westerly … Seriously, you do 3/8th of S F A for 9 months of the year in your position (not like you know how to backburn) … how about you start by learning directions on a map.
Please - try to be grateful that we're even able to be warned! My view is that common sense would surely indicate that it doesn't matter what is south or west when the area of fire is so wide and extensive, especially as winds can change in any direction in a very short space of time. Best advice: get away from this total area if possible - I've seen even small embers setting paddocks alight after travelling many kilometres, within about 10 seconds.
Sounds like you should be on the ground with our brothers , I've been in yellows for long enough to know how challenging it is ,and from my travels I have seen quite substantial hazard reduction, more so in the later years but have a look around at the amount and size of our parks it's a huge task to cover all this ground . Given the severity of the grampians fire earlier this year one could think fuel loads be lower , but given the rapid regrowth after hazard reduction or any other fire for that matter it is not always the be all and end all. Spare a thought for all our brothers who've missed xmas yet again for some Inc the upper staff doing these interviews as he serves our community as any of us do, and believe me do any of us get it 100 % right all the time , I think not.

C the greens are at it again this summer next will be alpine NP
Strange how there is always strong winds when these fire start
Not really that's typically when they start a dry storm went through and it flared up with the strong winds that's how fire spread
That's like saying it's strange how there's always heavy rain when it floods
most criminals wait for the climate to get windy and that helps fires start and cause unprecedented fires
@@jname9368 if it flooded it would put the fires out

Don't they have a zoo out in grampians.those poor animals .why on earth would you put a zoo in the bush.madness
Why aren't masses of other fire brigades from wherever being asked to help with this? Why let it go on burning and advancing?
Because they want it to spread.
