Great little video, It's worth noting if you're in VR the Canopy is far, far less obstructive with two viewpoints it's much easier to see around it. Took me a little while a night or two ago when i had to make an emergency trip to the viking over the fleet, got to below 1000lbs before hookup! Makes you miss the bigger aircraft. Certainly not a beginner friendly tanker.
@@104thMaverick I'm still trying to refuel from the s-3 I think the pilot in that tanker is fucking with me cause he never fly's straight he's all over the place what I mean by that is the tanker is up and down when I'm trying to refuel. I've been patient though I just call obort refuel and head back to the boat to rearm.
Love your accent :D are you from Australia? Nice Tutorial, I've been avoiding the airrefuelling with the S-3, will give it a go now to put in practice your tips. Thank you :)
Try to never stop moving the throttle, keep in constantly going back and forward as required and see how you get on. This will start to give you a really good feel for how much power you need to put on and take off.
Spilled fuel might be ingested into the right intake during refuelling, because the refuelling probe is on the right side. Switching the air source to left prevents fuel/fumes entering the cockpit.

Totally agree mate, new pilots should go to KC-135 MPRS, then KC-130 then the little guy!
@@104thMaverick I dread the idea of trying to top up off an A-4, perhaps we'l see an A-6 tanker someday?

@@RedKiteRender im here from the future, your wish has been granted
That Viking needs a model update. It makes my eyes bleed
Khristian Gillespie nothing about your sentence is comprehensible
Two years later… no change😢 I would pay for a new model!
Damn you make it look like a Sunday Drive to grams house. I fly the fa18c in DCS WORLD 2.5 and I'm still trying to refuel from tanker.
Awesome video, I really like these short and to the point videos. (long videos are great too)
my issue is the speed...i come up too fast and can't ever get right....or come up to slow and never catch up
Same problem. To fast to slow-back and forth
cheers again buddy
Excellent stuff Boss, keep em coming

I'm Scottish... about as far from Australia as you can get ;)
Admit Mav, you are an aussie, and have snakes on your plane! :-D
Great tutorial, thanks 👍
Glad it was helpful!
s3 and kc 130 is my fav plane to perform an aerial refuelling because there inst a lot of turbulence.
ShoZk I’m still super new but I prefer the 135 because it’s the most forgiving in terms of moving forward and aft while on the drogue
This is the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life.
🤣
Throttle control-my biggest issue- to fast to slow and then oscillation starts and I'm screwed. Suggestions?

How the heck do you trim the f14 out.. it always seems like it wants to move.... :( What are your joystick curves?
When I try this I get no response from the tanker and it doesn’t deploy the hose. Tried online as well and no joy. Any advice?
WTF since when can DCS F-14B refuel at S-3, since F-14B release day? o_O
Undocking not shown in the end xD important to safely increase distance to tanker after refueling
hey! nice video to me. but i have some question. in your viedo you click button to "air source L ENG" can i know why??

@@DavidBurgess_electricaltill ah got it ...so that think just for reality and doesn't help to easy AA refueling. am i right?
@@rlaxodud12 Correct, this was part of the real refueling procedure.
