Funny enough, Stephane won due to two quads, not because of his magnificent spins (two of which got only level 1) or footwork. Funny, because it's not technical side of his skating he is remembered and admired for.
very touching moment when he won the gold. Surely, he deserves the Gold. Superb performance overall. what a touching moment for him and the Lambiel fans when he was anounced the winner, finally after almost(? 49 years,) Switzerland has won the gold. This is a great honor for his country.
Stephane is the king of confidence and composure on ice! I would have lost it under the pressure but he keeps it all looking cool and comfortable despite his mistake.
Right on! His line, edging, timing to the music and of course magnificent spins put him in a class all his own. And the fact he's the sexiest thing on blades. Eat your heart out Evan Lysacek!
In my opinion, 'La Traviata' is a more beautiful program than 'King Arthur', but there was so much pressure from himself to at least be on the podium, that he totally lacked the freedom and energy that he usually has in his skating. That's why the free program didn't look quite as beautiful and expressive as it should have been. But you should watch his 'La Traviata' at the 'Kings on Ice' show in Prague. Two of the jumps didn't go well, but he skated with such freedom and ease, and such joy!
@jstaralltheway Stephane should have skated this master piece KING ARTHUR, surely he'll win the gold. No doubt he is the best skater, no one out there can come close with his spinning and artistic ability. He also can do the quadruple jump. I really feel that he is a very very competitive skater.
Lambiel is my favorite skater. But I don't like this program so much. It's not good enough for him, artistic enough. I don't know, just feels like there's something lacking.
I've always liked Lambiel, but the commentators are gushing FAR too much over this error-riddled performance: popped axle, popped another triple, downgraded triple lutz to a double, and almost fell during the step sequence. Not saying he shouldn't have won, but their reaction is over the top. A good example there's far more to skating than quads.
The commentators did exactly what they do today: gush over quads :D The true is Stephane was the only skater who did two quads and he was shining in comparison to Buttle who fell on 3A and 3Lo (with no quads) and Lysacek whose 3A was the most difficult jump (and who made mistakes on 2Lo and 2A). No to mention magnificent spins and footwork. So how can you be surprised by the commentators (and audience's) excitement?
My Swiss boy excellent figure skater a legend
Anybody just want to squeeze him? He is so adorable.
My favourite skater of all time. So unique and exciting to watch!
Mine too! Since when I was teen I have a huge crush on him. He is SO HEAVENTLY GRACEFUL
One of my favourites as well😅😊😊
THE BEST ARTIST ON THE ICE EVER !!!!! 👏🏻👌🏻💐 MISS HIM SO MUCH!!!..
The King of Emotion....
Lambiel-king of spins and footwork
He is the best spinner, I forgot he completed quad jumps!! He also is so handsome, great to watch him. He now coaches Shoma. What a career!!!
I've never seen faster spins. And the choreography is sometimes so fast and difficult. Really impressed me.
KING OF SPINS
Those spins are unequalled. So good.
one of the most artistic skaters ever.
Funny enough, Stephane won due to two quads, not because of his magnificent spins (two of which got only level 1) or footwork. Funny, because it's not technical side of his skating he is remembered and admired for.
amazing, one of the gratest skater ever!! miss you stephane!!
Phenomenal skater.
The most Charismatic Skater of all TIME

you will ALWAYS be my favorite
Totally agree. He had gained so much poise, technique, and perhaps even stamina by 2006. It was a major improvement.
Super👍
Stephane is the king of confidence and composure on ice! I would have lost it under the pressure but he keeps it all looking cool and comfortable despite his mistake.
can you imagine him and shoma working together?
Actually, they have performed together (Lambel as a pro). There's a UA-cam video. Check it out. Amazing to watch them spinning together!!!!
Right on! His line, edging, timing to the music and of course magnificent spins put him in a class all his own. And the fact he's the sexiest thing on blades. Eat your heart out Evan Lysacek!
Evan 's not bad looking either.
his is my prince of ice, i love you....
lol I love the way Chris and Simon are keen supporters of Stephane :D
I want so much for him to do well in Vancouver, he truly has the heart of a champion. Je'taime Stephane.
He has the best spins out there..... among everything else that is great.
OMG was that a quadruple Lutz?!?
he's just amazing,i don't even have words to describe him and his performances...
Világbajnok,gratulálok.
Beautiful cry
@overainbows He was still young and inexperienced here. But what a difference at the 06 Worlds. He rocked it!

The Beeeeessstttttt I love !!!!!!!
@esquibelle Excuse me: THE most artistic skater ever.
Excuse me , That was John Curry
Lieber Stéphane Lambiel

I love Lambiel, but crazy he won Worlds popping so many jumps and doing no 3A
I’d call him “The Spin Cycle”
that's interesting, cause apart from being the greatest skater I've ever seen he's also hot!
That's so unfair! xD
I'm really sorry he's retired.
He's gay
@@MT-sw8rf he's not
But he's coaching now. Just watch his progeny. :)
Quads in 2005? I thought that trend started later. Go figure
@jstaralltheway Stephane should have skated this master piece KING ARTHUR,

I see now why Yuruzu Hanu lost the spinning contest

@@ria3817 Well, considering the competition was 15 years ago, thanks for the recap.
really?!
amazing, one of the gratest skater ever!! miss you stephane!!
