- PREPARING our Villa for Hurricane Milton! Swanky Vacay and the team come to the Villa on Solara Resort to bring emergency supplies, sand bags and more!
We are getting worried and abit scared in Orlando as Hurricane Milton heads right towards us at a Category 5 with winds of 180 miles per hour! Our trip plans have changed and I give as many useful tips as I can if you are already here in Orlando or if you were meant to be flying in or out of Orlando International Airport on Wednesday!

Make sure you put all your pool furniture into the pool, honestly !! This stops it blowing around and potentially coming through the windows. When at its peak try and keep everyone in the same room, Centre of home if possible, speaking from experience.
I’d move that glass off that outside table and bring it in, I’ve had glass flip off at home outside in a storm! Stay safe sure you guys will be fine x
What ever you can bring inside do it, all pool chairs, tables etc etc plus back the car up to the garage door so if you have to get out quick you can plus its protection for the garage, stay safe all.

Mate, don't know what you're expecting here. I've been through 2 hurricanes whilst on holiday in Orlando, once in a hotel and once in a villa, trust me its no fun in a villa, you'll most likely lose all power and the wind noise is very frightening. You'll lose all contact with the outside world during the storm and will feel vulnerable and isolated. There will likely be some villas damaged if the winds are over 100 miles per hour. If it were me, I'd be trying to book a room in a hotel on I Drive just to be safe. Look after yourselves and stay safe. If you stay in the villa, if you can, get the car in the garage. Its a comfortable place to sit, and with the doors shut, it will reduce the wind noise and feel less frightening. Plus, you'll have the car radio to listen to any news updates.
There are no rooms available, all taken by the people evacuated from the coast

Keep safe…. Have spent the last couple of days filling sand bags for our house. The wobble south of the Hurricane Milton helped us out a bit since we are north of Orlando. Yes, fill the tub with water just in case. Also know where the closest medical facilities are in case of a problem. Candles and matches might be something to buy too, in case the power goes out.
So sad all the homes and livelihoods lost…stay home and stay safe guys ❤

The Weather Channel is the best weather channel. The app is also one of the best. It is the one I use to follow the path of hurricanes we get here.

is it bad the british inside me heard the storm and everyone talking bout water and supplies i was thinking if i was in florida rn id be stocking up on the alcohol. get pissed up during a storm probs not the best thing but certainly a must hahaha. STAY SAFE THO PEOPLE
Thank you for the updates we were there in January and had a Tornado Warning alarms going off everywhere in Universal and told to get indoors. Not on the same scale though as what is happening there at the moment it looks horrific. Stay safe and keep us all updated that you are all OK and hope its not too long before you can carry on with your vacation.

I was in Orlando for a hurricane in 2004 and our hotel put all the deckchairs into the swimming pool to stop them blowing away. It looks like this will be a big one, hopefully everyone stays safe.

Stay safe all of you .. we was out there when Hurricane Helene was there spent the last week of our 3 week holiday at Anna Maria Island - 3 days in we had to evacuate the island due to the storm very scary but thankfully we found another villa in Orlando and wasn’t too badly affected . I know the island and coast got it bad .. look after yourselves- still doesn’t put me off going to Florida 😂 take care ! ❤

Stay safe. Looks like you have some good supplies in. From experience of many cat 4/5 typhoons over five years its the days after which are the most difficult. I went a whole week of no power or shops to replenish food while the streets were under water. Like you say you have 2 weeks to eat and drink what you buy so its always worth getting a bit more. Stay safe. Heart goes out to all Floridians.❤

Had the emergency alarm while in Greece last year. Because of fires said evaluate the village and travel at lease 15 kilometers. Fortunately it did not reach the village and was able to return next morning. But it is worrying when you hear loads of phones Making a sound you haven't heard before.
