This movie was butchered in the editing. The original screenplay (which is available, along with the novelization) explains that the "Glass Armor" is actually a light but strong composite that allows the wearer to be protected while still maintaining mobility. That Ultraviolet breaks it is out of this world. In the final movie, the guards wear glass and Milla just breaks it... In my estimate, they cut a whole hour of both character and world building from the final edit.
"Sir, the new Sugar Glass Armor proved ineffective at providing protection from physical attacks!" "Damn! We have no choice. We'll have to to switch to the experimental Tin Foil Combat Suit!"
This movie was so amazing! Milla had such a hand in this movie as well! Milla initially wanted an R rating. But, the studio wanted a wider appeal so they went for and PG - 13 rating which ultimately hurt the film. Milla expressed dissatisfaction with the end result. But, they have deleted scenes that show more gruesome fight scenes.
@ the 2:05 - 2:11 segment, the Contrasting color visuals of Yellow & black in her outfit and the vault door strongly remind me of the X-Men comics and characters for some reason
Facts, the dialog for the whole movie was so poorly written and acted but ya I only watched it because Mila was in it and being badass. It was ok for what it was. 😃💪
I got to admit that Milla Jovovich is a bad ass actress in this movie. Especially, I love her hair style, though. Plus, my girlfriend has that hair style that I truly love.
The Gun-Fu fights in Ultraviolet are an expansion of the "Gun-Kata" fighting style from "Equilibrium", which was also written and directed by Kurt Wimmer. Wimmer said he had been unhappy with how the Gun-Kata scenes worked in Equilibrium, and tried to improve on things for Ultraviolet.
wtf, the fight scenes were so bad in this movie, especially this one meanwhile equilibrium had a ton of badass gunfu scenes, how's he gonna say he improved it in this one? The editing and screenplay in this one is so corny...
Well don't expect it in the next four years, leftie hollywood is going to do everything they possibly can to make America miserable until they vote Democrat again.
I always wondered WHY the doctor refused to hand over the case and kept on asking her what her condition was. I always figured that it was some sort of password challenge, and him asking her, meant that she had to give him some sort of coded response, but Mila didn't know what that secret code response was. When the alarms went off, it pretty much gave her the opportunity to fight her way out.
My theory is that he literally had a hunch, that she didn't quite smell right in a way he couldn't put his finger on, and he just wanted to challenge her in any way he could legally get away with to buy a few seconds, which turned out to be exactly what she'd hoped he wouldn't do (on the assumption that she didn't want to fight her way out, and was actually hoping to get away with the attempted subterfuge - if killing everyone had been her original plan, I doubt she'd have done the strip-scanner).
this movie is ridiculous but so much about it feels like the proper Aeon Flux film we never got. even the casting, Mila Jovovich is a much better casting choice for Aeon and far more physical in her performance. I think a lot of this was inspired by Aeon Flux, the costuming and set design etc. obviously the plot of this movie is totally different and very dumb but i think stylistically theres a lot of good stuff here that the Aeon Flux movie was sorely lacking
Still for the life of me don't get why director Kurt Wimmer basically took Resident Evil and Aeon Flux, injected sterioids, actually wrote good character development admist the chaotic craziness, and then deleted like 30 minutes of film. Was it really his choice? Did he do it because the Aeon Flux film adaptation was also supposed to be 2hrs and MTV was like "too artsy, the fans who watch the artsy animated show totally won't all go see this." So we got both chopped down loosing the essence of both? And the latter is gone, because MTV doesn't care to save footage. The other wouldn't exactly be a "director's cut" and clearly unlike say "Underworld" that got an extended cut, no one would ever care enough. A shame really, budget being too mid-level to really do it justice or not, Ultraviolet only needed one film and it was better with just the home release footage, another 20+ minutes of mostly drama would've also made it way less a "playstation2 movie" for starters. A must-watch for fans of live-action resident evil, milla jovovich, aeon flux the movie regardless. Her anger rampage scenes alone are worth it.
That's ceramic armor... probably balistacal and good against those electric batons if used against them... probably weren't expecting to be kicked or punched so damb hard ... I mean... kicking or punching your toilet would hurt pretty bad
Probably because no one else considers it porn. If you were looking for that type of entertainment I'm sure the internet is full of sites you can access.
Didn't she already make this movie with a different name? Why does he face look blurred? Edit: I figured it out, this movie was made to be similar to AeonFlux.
Sort of. AeonFlux was based on a comic book - this movie has no comic origin and was meant to 'be like it came from a comic book' in the look and feel of it. Japanese audiences loved that and made an anime based just on this movie.
About the only thing going for this movie are the pretty girls and only for their looks. That's about it. It's sad to see just how far entertainment has gone these days.
"Whoever thought that glass armor was a good thing needs to be fired!"
-the guards, probably
Does fine in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion... 🙃😜
I assumed it was some type of tempered ceramic composite.

Glass armor would work against the electroshock staffs they had. So if someone without weapons takes their weapon, they would be protected.
The movie was silly but very entertaining. It's definitely a watch.
the movie was silly and totally vacuous
"A watch" is definitely a way to put it lol. It's so 2000's but it brings back memories. 😂❤️
It was a comic book movie, like Tank Girl

I like the way she offhandedly swishes her hair after killing a couple dozen guards.

Oh dissatisfaction? Poor girl...she doesnt espressed dissatisfaction with resident Evil!
She also stabbed herself thru the leg during filming
