I just got back from Jerusalem... my 1st visit, few days ago. The bus played this beautiful song as we entered it during the night but too dark to see...it was only the next morning as the bus drove towards Mt of Olives & I turned my eyes to the right that my heart leapt with such indescribable tearful joy when I saw for the 1st time this beloved city & Kidron valley...it was like finally coming home to a place I had only known in Scriptures & pictures...if earthly Jerusalem where my Lord & Saviour Yeshua will return to soon, can bring out such emotions, how much more the New Jerusalem!!

The city that Jesus, God Almighty in the flesh, wept over. His heart was broken.
Way back a number of years ago when I was still a kid in junior high school, our junior choir sang "The Holy City." At this time in my life I had little or no understanding of just what the words and message of this song expressed. As I continued to grow and mature in better understanding the message of Christ's crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and His coming again, the Holy City so well expresses the proclamation and description of just what God has in store for all of us. No matter how often I hear the singing of this beautiful message, I am literally moved to tears. These words of promise and hope constantly resonate and reinforce the certainty of His coming again. What a message, what a promise - - Hosanna for evermore!
I am the same. The more i hear this classic hymn, the more i loved it. Its all the hope of all to be with their God n God to be with us in the new Jerusalem for ever n ever. What a blessed hope we have. Hosana in the highest will be in our mouths throughout eternity. Hallelujiah. Amen.
I'm not a Christian ! My heritage is Jewish and I'm a Pantheist by choice. However, I have a prayer request for you who are Christians. Please pray for the IDF. That they may be successful in their fight against the most evil force that has even been brought against the nation of Israel since Nazi Europe.

The lyric is credited to Frederick Weatherly, but was probably written by his son Frank instead. Frank also wrote the words to Danny Boy. It takes a tremendous voice to even attempt this masterpiece!

This is such a truly sublime hymn/song which takes one through the Triumphal Entry to the Cross of Calvary and, finally, to the victory of God as His New Jerusalem comes down from heaven. However, the second movement from the jubilant cries of Hosanna to the dark, lonely, and cold cross utterly melts my heart. It is at that moment that the words of the Apostle John, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son" become a powerful reality for me On a lonely hill, Christ died for us. No other religion makes such a startling and, yet, profound claim.

Went to Israel this past march and when the tour bus was coming up the mount to overlook Jerusalem they were playing this on the bus sound system. Was an awesome experience being my first time to see Jerusalem it gave me cold chills.

I had the privilege to be on a coach and as we approached Jerusalem we all sang this song. Wow! I've always loved this as my uncle used to sing it, but it meant even more to me on that occasion.
This song alway makes me cry. It's just so beautiful.
It is somewhat difficult to understand that the New Jerusalem will be on this Earth, but the Bible tells us exactly where it is going to be located in Zechariah 14: 4, 5. Revelation 21: 16, even tells us the size it will be. I get really excited when I think of what God has prepared for those who love Him. So let us do all we possibly can and hope by His grace we will be among the Redeemed.

I Have listened Many versions of this Classical Holy City and Have always Come Back to listening this particular Artist : But then as the Camera was panning over the City of Jerusalem I focused My eyes upon the Domed Building which of Course is the Rock {a Muslim Mosque } and Knowing the History on how it was Planted there Brought me to Recalling on how and why it was Put there ! A certain religion of which Occupied Rome Had wanted to Place their Headquarters within Jerusalem But Jerusalem put up a fight against the Roman Empire and Because Rome was loosing too many Soldiers against Israel Someone from this Church was able to Have this Mohammed from Arabia to Build up and army to Fight on behalf of the Roman Church where he would receive Much wealth : Israel finally was defeated by the Army of Mohammed and when it came to Mohammed being Paid for his winning ! Rome was to congratulate him on a Job well done and was ready to hand over the Money Mohammed Realised that there was a potential in making Billions Rather than a few Millions; He told the Roman empire to stuff their Money where He now having Israel surrender He had the Rock Mosque Built : Israel was placed under the control of a Muslim Leader?
