After toasting the cigar, I blow through the cigar a few times to purge it of lighter fumes before finishing the lighting. I have found since I started doing this that it improves the flavour.
The best tip I have seen for relighting a cigar, is to blow through it rather than suck though it. It will push the tar and impurities out of the end, and not draw them through to contaminate the untouched Tobacco... thus helping to ensure the flavor and scent remains nice.
I've been smoking cigars periodically for years, but I'm always learning new things. That last bit about where on the cigar to stop smoking was very beneficial. Thank you. I'm looking forward to some good cigar smoking weather soon.

My favorite smoke and drink pairing is a Connecticut wrapped cigar with a black coffee.
