    Mr Japan, you have said the magic words " Cheap Labour." Typical big businesses & corporations they all supports foreign labours instead of training their own. It is all about the costs. Australia is one of the culprits. The amount of foreign workers entered Australia after covid 2019 was mind boggling. Keep up the good work Mr Japan.

    Tech workers in the US don’t want the supply curve to be driven up by tech immigrants. They don’t want their wages to reduced or stagnate. Pretty obvious why a lot of tech workers don’t want those immigrants from Asia. It feels as though we are being betrayed as Americans by everyone in power in America.
    In fact it’s felt this way for quite some time. It’s one of the reasons I’m learning Japanese as my third language as a backup plan.

    It is not that Americans have an issue with legal immigration. It is that American have an issue with the leaders of corporations skipping the domestic talent pool to hire non citizen immigrants like H1B1 visa holders. Americans are told to get degrees in university and then when they go into debt to get a degree in Software Engineering or other tech disciplines they are rewarded with either being pushed out of the tech labor market entirely or getting a job that does not pay enough to justify the effort.

      @Shinjiduo 17 днів тому

      @@shugyosha7924 If it was just the top 0.1% then that would be fine. There is a different Visa for that though known as the O-1 not the H1-B1. @@interestedincphpsqlmysql4222 I don't currently work in I.T. but I once did, and still have many contacts in the field. The domestic supply was always there. What I hear about from my associates is that the H1B1 Visa program *is indeed* abused by companies for cheap labor.
      The wage flattening effect of the supply inflation is a concern.. However, the larger issue lies in the fact that many (or most) of the immigrant workers aren't as skilled as Elon and Vivek proclaim.
      One of my industry associates referrerenced a previous job where he was managing a mostly Chinese and Indian software development Visa team. His exact words in describing their programming ability was "mediocre at best, dog-shit at worst." This was combined with constant culture clashes and communication errors. He wasn't the only one that shared these experiences.
      A couple of my friends ended up leaving corporate I.T. and stuck strictly to private consulting. One of them has joked around about half of his job consisting of "fixing the mistakes of foreign workers and DIY projects." Which he ends up charging double for.
      I never annectdotally experienced anything similar. Though I have noticed a disturbingly large amount of recent I.T. college graduates *(from all backgrounds)* with horrendous troubleshooting abilities.... I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Worst case scenario, I still have enough skills to fix my own shit.😅😅😅

  • @fatalsturm
    @fatalsturm 20 днів тому +4

    What Talent gap? It is tiring excuses being said. America doesn’t protect their entry level jobs and outsource outside of America. You will see ridiculous requirements for entry level job, then act like they couldn’t find someone who could do the job… then interview a foreigner who lacks the skill and higher them. They will prefer hiring H1B1 to work in their company not because they are skilled at that job, but because they are cheaper and will likely work longer hours as they are accustomed to it in their country. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to do a lot of these IT jobs, little training and they can get the job done. There is absolutely no reason why the jobs should go to an H1B1 worker.
    Yes, many companies have moved part of their companies to Europe and Asia. Not for the skilled workers, but cheaper workers. Didn’t Apple invest 3 billion in educating Malaysians to work for them.

    To make a complicated issue simple. Basically trumps supporters don't want immigration in general though they will claim its just illegal immigration. The whole idea is that Trump is supposed to bring back more American jobs and to fix the economy for Americans and part of that is cracking down on immigration. So when they see that there making an exception and bringing immigrants in to work instead of choosing Americans it feels like a betrayal. I'm not a supporter but I would feel betrayed to.

    4:24 "what is he saying"
    He is saying that America focuses too much on glorifying people that are essentially just dancing monkeys, they glorify entertainers, movie stars and music talents. These are fine but they are not needed. The people that built the country, that make the country function and that put forth all the inventions to make it work, they don't get nearly as much attention. The latter is more important, without it you couldn't have the former in any real capacity (just look at how much tech people are needed to do anything in the entertaining industry).
    7:18 "So many options"
    You have well over 60 options, unlike Japanese where you have 0 options, despite how "beautiful" the language is.
    17:13 "Idk"
    From what ive heard, they are mad at both illegal and H-1B1 abuse, allot of people get in that shouldn't get in cause they don't really fit the criteria. That's a thing that people don't like, when the so called high skilled aren't so high skilled.

    We need to look at what proportion of these visa holders are actually “highly skilled”. It looks like a part of them just work in restaurants for example. Even if they are highly skilled that doesn’t guarantee that they will assimilate into the culture. The US immigration system allows citizens to sponsor relatives to come over too, who are (from my experience in the Silicon Valley) LESS interested in assimilating.
