Imagine, this motor could have been defective before the water got in, and you would test it and missed out on a super deal.... Good on you for taking it apart that really shows how professional you guys are.

    Lovely car, almost untouched.
I may have missed something though but as a saltwater flooded vehicle, it may now be dry but unless the bi-carb sorts it, the salt is still there. I would have thought it best to thoroughly wet all the affected areas first to dilute the salt away, then mop it up to dry and then the dehumidifier. I would think if this wasn't done there will still be the risk of rust further down the line.
Sorry if I did miss something and thanks for all the videos but i do like the flood ones!

I was thinking along the same lines especially for the carpet. Hose it down with fresh water on a concrete pad, squeegee it, wet vac it and then throughly dry it. The water level looked low but I'd be concerned about it getting into the interior of the doors and fender wells etc.

Glad it wasn't bad under the carpet nor any of the connectors under the seats, etc.. Nice looking Mustang with just the basic white/black combo in the GT format. Nice buy on your part even if it was a risk. Sometimes you have just have to!

Mike I'm from the north east up here they put salt and celcem chloride on the road,s and what we use to stop rust is Fluid film just a thought for you is to get some and spray the floor in the mustang just let it dry before you put the carpet back in and the car should never have a rust problem

Very thorough reconditioning of the car. Suggest you use Odoban to kill any mold spores. Baking soda absorbs the odor, but the Odoban kills the source.

Good idea using the dehumidifier. I use 35 dehumidifiers in each of my collection of cars in the summer months. They collect about 16 oz of water each. I have to empty each one 2 times a week. They really work and prevent any mold! Love/respect your show! Where is Ivan lately?????

How about doing a Tesla Model S? If you can get hold of one, we absolutely love ours three years in (of 5 total age) & 45,000 miles absolutely perfect. Look forward to next episode.

Enjoyed the video. For your baking soda, try using a (vintage) flour sifter with a squeeze grip. Look on UA-cam to see how it evenly distributed the powder. Less than $15.
Or, ask your grandma if you can borrow hers!

The salt needs to be neutralized and removed otherwise it can get damp and start corroding again. You should have hosed down both sides of the carpet to remove any salt traces, or was it determined to be fresh water? Taste?

you would almost want to flood the floor pan with fresh water to dissolve the salt, pull it out and then reflood with a weak water/phosphoric acid mix to neutralise and then wipe down the floor????? If you dehumidify you just leave all the salt behind and car rots out from inside of all those crossmemebers.

Seeing how much is going on for just one seat with the wiring/computers is why I will never mess with a floor car. Doors have all kinds of stuff, the modules on the floor boards etc... no thanks! Still think it should have every single plug taken apart and not just spray cleaner but dielectric grease too.
