The feminine spelling of the word is ‘Blonde’ which reflects the tone of the first half of the album which is light, happily melodic and has imagery of summer. Then, in ‘Nights’ there is a beat switch which is exactly halfway in the album (at 30 minutes in the hour long project). This beat switch signifies the Volta in tone to the other (masculine) ‘Blond’ The feel is more brutal, delves into his character and is harsh in it’s realities and ideas. This duality in the album of both sides mirrors his sexuality, identity and mentality throughout.

Those jubilant feelings we want so bad can turn sour and crumble everything in your life. There is nothing like a first love ending. It’s crazy. So many years later and this album is still as powerful as the day it came out. It’s an album unlike any other.
