    Advice for Good Good Labs going forward.. if you could include some slow motion shots of implementing skills like this one, I think it'd help us hacks out on the range! Great videos so far!

      You are exactly right. Need the slow motion view. That is where you will see the early extension. Another good tip is to try and keep the right heel (for right handers) down on the ground until after impact. Early extension tends to bring the right heel off the ground prior to impact.

      Suggestion if you decide to use slow mos: do a voice over on them like a narrator and even draw on it kind of like how golf pros use their tablets during a lesson

    So, I found good good and the rest was history. I’ve been pretty hooked ever since and been loving the content. Just like everyone else. However, there seems to be something special that happened when I found Grants channel and saw this guys natural way of teaching. Which no doubt was a gift given by his dad. Everything just seems to be directed at me personally. From shooting the hips up to when he taught Matt to not cup his wrists. These were the two things I did regularly that I didn’t know I did them! Truly, all this applies to me personally and has helped me out so much. Dude, your good….. good lol

    Yesterday at the driving range (after 1/2 lg. bucket) I remembered when younger staying crouched down through my swing. I immediately hit perfect risers right on target much farther down range. I couldn't figure out why I was topping or pushing every 3 or 4 shot. Now, I know what it is. Thanks Grant.

    As someone who has dealt with EE for a while, what helped me the most wasn't the feeling of staying back, or a chair drill (for the same feel), because once I saw multiple teaching pros (namely bender and adam young off the top of my head) explain that early extension is a symptom, not a lone fault it helped me a ton. I (and a lot of people) was early extending to create power and hit the ball as a compensation for another fault earlier in the swing, that can be many things. I would say that throwing that angle from the top 99% of the time is due to swing faults earlier in the swing, and then EE is inevitable. I would say for most golfers that feel won't work until they address the root issues that make their body do that. It can be many things but typically it's a pivot/rotation issue in the backswing. Once that pivot and coil gets out of sync, your weight shift is off in transition, you lose that angle, and you early extend to try to "save the shot". For me, EE went away on its own once I addressed my earlier swing fault without having to feel that so much in the downswing. I think downswing feels are hard to use because things are moving so fast and most players can't really do it effectively. I think it was Ben Hogan who said, "the downswing is a terrible place for a swing thought" because everything is already in motion and an automatic reaction to everything you've already done by that point. Love your content, by the way. Everyone can tell you love teaching and it makes your videos very enjoyable.

    • @DylanJamesGolf
      @DylanJamesGolf 2 роки тому +3

      Yeah I also had this majorly destroying my swing. My coach basically said it’s because I’m not rotating properly. And we did numerous drills until I finally learned how to rotate and watch my head not raise in my swing anymore. Backswing is so important. “Freezer drills” “pause at the top” drills are so good for EE. It teaches you to start your swing with your body and not your arms. Thus rotating thru the ball. And getting a little in to out swing path and hitting draws or straight shots.

      Great comment - for me this video is very enlightening- I’m 60, a left handed golfer, with a bad right knee (old acl injury) - so I ‘stand up’ at impact (hips forward) because I have to save the shot! - but the real issue could be my lack of hip rotation prior to impact due to stress on lead knee!

  • @rehajm

    I haven’t watched your channel before but this popped up in my YT feed last week. I too fight EE and feel like I heard it all on how to fix, seen Tiger and Jordan’s drills etc etc… I used your combo idea of ‘back and around’ while maintaining the angle and it was lightbulb moment. I’m a six but there were lots of pro looking irons on my way to even par on Saturday…credit and props to you good good sir…

    Great tip starting the downswing by pushing the right hip back. I’ve played to a plus handicap (+5 was the lowest) for over 20 years, dozens of tournament wins, one of the best ball striker I know including playing pro friends of mine and still early extension is something I struggle with as well as some friends of mine who still play professionally. As you showed, Tiger even struggles with it, it’s probably the hardest thing to correct in the golf swing. Usually people focus more on the left hip but that squat move with the right actually works really well. Good stuff. I’ve had a bad back since a snowboarding injury as a kid, my golf swing has never hurt, even when my back is thrown out I can still swing painlessly but I know early extension can be one of the worst things for your back, that’s mostly why I work on it, no real complaints with the game but I want to keep playing this game until they put me in a box. Keep grinding 🤘⛳️🧙‍♂️💭

    I mention it on this video, because the feeling of that bowed wrist, has really helped in my early extension. I now feel the need to maintain that club angle through impact, which almost forces me to rotate and not stand up.

    Can you guys do a video about each members pre-shot routine? Sometimes it seems like you just get up and hit it but I see it sometimes and I am wondering what each of you do before a drive or iron shot.
