  • Whilst many dance bands ceased operating during WW2, those of Ambrose, Billy Cotton, Geraldo & Carroll Gibbons remained active and all recorded prolifically during the war. From December 1942 Carroll Gibbons and the Savoy Hotel Orpheans play "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition" and "Serenade in blue". Whilst some WW2 records are still relatively common, others are more difficult to source now as press runs were limited and titles didn't stay in the catalogues indefinitely, usually being deleted once the titles were no longer popular. This maybe one of the more elusive discs to source now, so hope you will enjoy this patriotic number.

Holy moly, we sang this as children in the 1950s! Of course, dad had served in the Pacific. 🇺🇸

My dad was in the Canadian army in Britain and Europe during WWII. I grew up hearing all the WWII songs.
