I had hoped you’d do a little movie on this bag. Absolutely perfect love the size and that machine is really amazing! It’s great to see alternatives to hand sewing without losing the vibe of what you do. Thanks Eric

I can no longer sew much by hand due to arthritis and had surgeries and exclusively machine sew items. With good machine setup, appropriate needle and thread choices good looking sewing can be accomplished. Seeing designs and work such as in this video is good stuff. The entry cost for machines is a little steep but worth it.

I like the design of your mini tote bag. I noticed you use snaps to put the handles on if I was to make a change or add anything I would put snaps on the sides that way you could put a shoulder strap on it as well. In reference to being lonely, I am 65 years old retired and enjoying working with leather. I have a younger wife and stepdaughter in a 14 year old daughter so lonely not a problem for me. PS: this is the first time that I have ever commented on one of your videos, but I’d like you to know that I have been watching you for years now and you are one of the biggest reasons I am working with leather and I have learned oh so much from watching you. Thank you for what you do. PRW

That was pretty cool. I have not sewed with a sewing machine since i was a kid in middle school back in the late 1970s. So a project like this seems daunting for hand stitching; I know it can be done: I have hand sewn several belts I have made, the last one I estimate was 650+ stitches...
As for the living alone part, I understand. But my preferred place is my summer house- the last place on a dead-end dirt road and right now, in early November, only the geese visit. It is serene, comforting, and a place for me to find peace. God makes such places so we can learn to hear Him.

I worked alone as a land surveyor for 24 years..but I was out and about all over working.. then in 2020 office shut down because covid, regulations changes in that time so no longer had a job, so then was not working and alone at my house in the woods for 3 years... just started working again, in retail in 2023, so it's been an adjustment... but been alone working for 20+ years and then totally alone relationship wise since 2017... it's hard at times, depressing at times, now 47 years old and don't know how to make connections anymore, things have changed since I was younger and a extrovert.

Nice simple design and nice end product. I'll use your pattern as a starting point but use chrome tan, skive where needed & fully line and do folded edges wherever practical as I detest edge paint.
I work alone and my workflow is "kiss". I typically do a single sample, adjust the pattern and then do a short run, typically 5 items. I use a laser cutter for most of the pieces, including lining material and sew using a machine exclusively.

Can I make a suggestion: instead of needing to screenshot 0:43 then crop, scale, test print etc. maybe you could upload a PDF to the patterns on your website? This is both more convenient to your audience, and gets traffic to your site seeing your other patterns available to purchase?

A lovely wee tote. I like the idea of rolled handles. Easier on the hands or crook of the arm if one does not add a shoulder strap to the design. A version or pattern option that has a closure of some kind would be awesome for those of use who worry about theft of wallets or other valuables while in crowded spaces. Regarding loneliness, I understand in many ways where you have come from. For me, I relish my alone time from other humans with my four dogs, TNR'd cat colony, aquariums, and plants. I never get enough of it. Even though I spend most of my time alone, I'm married to a wonderful human who is gone for hours and hours on campus teaching wonderful minds, and who is very focused on work inside his home office when he is at our casa. I learned many years ago after an intensely sad and challenging period of my life, wherein my father took his own life, my aunt died from breast cancer, a partnership I'd thought would be one for the ages ended, and my commercial photography career took a nose dive after 9--11, that being alone can be such a good thing causing immense personal growth in so many ways. Even when I was surprised that I lightly shook all over walking out of my home each day for a while, I knew that being brave and moving forward was what I needed. I loved my dog back then. What an amazing companion she was for traipsing about the early morning quiet of the city while most people were still sleeping, and for every gallery or event or dinner with friends I attended, she was waiting for me to take her for a spin around the block. I have rarely felt actual loneliness because I taught myself back then, even while feeling deepest sorrow, to accept who I am in most given moments in life. I continue to wish you very well. You are an inspiration. Thank you.

Nice one Eric. I would add a buckle to one side, I just like the look and do it on my large tote. Maybe even a double snap handle wrap to keep them together.
Double check the thread path, last stitching on the top of the bag looks like the thread was caught and not through the take up spring. I’m surprised it sewed haha. Happens to use all! 😅

Being alone 🤔? Being lonely 🙁.
I used to like the concept that there is someone out there who would like me enough to care about me and also love me. But then I kept meeting guys who were narcissistic and borderline sociopaths. They had the charisma of the pipe piper. I was never needy, my i.q is above 110, I have no problems socially at events, no longer on the heavy side, got teeth fixed, well traveled, speak a little Japanese, former military, and more. Yet, all I keep getting are narcissist - a.k.a. "bad boys". They are fun but when you actually want long term companionship, they are a waste of time. So I grew up. Then i noticed that the men i was attracted to only wanted skinny women that wear a size 2 or shaped like 10 yo boys.
After the last train wreck ended November 2014, i gave up. I cant go through that level of pain again. It was the the worst that no one could ever imagine. He even made my mother and son cry because of the emotional pain he put me through. I'm still recovering from the emotional trauma he caused me.
As far as friendship connections? I have low tolerance for people now. Im not desperate for friendships. When i smell b.s., i run the opposite direction. Before, I was very open. But after everything i have been through and now going through, i trust no one. If i sense no integrity, i don't continue dealing with that individual.
    Am I lonely? Yes.
Am I single and alone? Yes.
    Do I prefer that? NO!
I got used to being alone and listening to the silence. I stopped wondering what its like to be hugged, invited somewhere, visited, have conversations, companionship... all because of the evil I have been in contact with most of my life.
I hope when I finally leave this country, I can heal better. The 3½ years i lived in the Japanese community, were the best years of my life. Coming back to the u.s. then being trapped in Ohio, makes it harder and 100 times worse. I can't leave my mother to die in a nursing home so im stuck here untilshe passes away. The way nursing homes treat people, I will be lucky to have her past tomorrow. They are that bad. I would take her with me if they had not debilitated her. She can't fly or travel long distance. Shes too fragile now.
If you love someone, don't fall for the t.v. commercials or ads for nursing home care. 3 nursing homes in 3 years and she almost died over 5x's. All of them rated 5star by the federal government.

It should be wider and not so tall, but I'm not a woman so I don't carry these things, just a man's opinion. Other than that I think it looks pretty rustic.
