Great video. I’m planning a trip to Port Burwell & I read that the beach is dog friendly. Is this correct ? I would hate to drive all the way from east Ottawa to Port Burwell to find out my little dog/fish can’t come on the beach with us.
The Port Burwell Provincial Park has camping and some really nice trails throughout the park with little bridges, creeks, and a few benches here and there if you want to take a break. It also has several beach access entry points with ample parking (paid entry to the park if you have a vehicle). If clothing isn't your thing (lol), there is a not very well known section on the far end known as the "nude" or "clothing optional" beach 😅.
Hi Sandy, it’s true this was filmed just before Covid and sadly we had to wait until we could release it. The businesses featured are still around. Thank you for the additional recommendations!
Thank you for providing this video about Port Burwell. The Periscope Playhouse is worth a mention and Roro's which has many interesting and unique gifts. :)
Not sure if you're aware, but the submarine Ojibwa is located on the former site of Canadian Pacific's Railway Yard. I occasionally worked freight trains into there between 1973 and the abandonment of the line south of Tillsonburg in 1988. I retired off the railway 14 years ago. At one time in the late 1950s and before, coal came into Port Burwell in rail cars on a railroad car ferry and CP pulled the cars off the vessel and made the cars up into a trains to head to Woodstock Ontario. The car ferry sank across the lake in 1958 I believe, and after that there were few cars sent to Port for unloading. The last cars into there so far as I recall were flatcars of pipe for Union Gas.
Lived there may years ago.

Thanks so much! I’m not entirely sure whether the main beach is dog friendly, but there is a separate beach beside it that is dog friendly.

this must have been filmed years ago because some of the places you showed no longer are there and you never mentioned Roro or the Playhouse
