Fun fact - the Norwegian camp set WAS the American Camp set IRL. There was only ever one set. They simply blew up/burned the "American" Camp. Then changed signs and a few other small things to make it into the "Norwegian" camp. All the scenes in the "Norwegian Camp" were the last ones filmed for the movie.
My favourite John Carpenter movie is the original version of 'The Fog' which came out in 1980. There was a remake in 2005, but unfortunately it's just not as good as the original.
I once read that the Thing could also imitate and manipulate brain cells, which means that if you were the Thing, you might not even know it until your body bursts open into tentacles. And even then, the Thing could make you forget and continue acting normal.
26:22 - You asked why Windows be worried if he knew he wasn't the Thing. You have to remember nobody knew anything about the Thing, so if someone was infected, it's possible they might not even know it. Plus it's just a tense situation to begin with

It actually makes sense that MacReady has similar facial features to the guy from Black Mirror. The actor in Black Mirror is Wyatt Russell and is the son of Kurt Russell. Kurt Russell plays Mac Ready in this film
Bombed at the box office. Rediscovered in the 90s on DVD. Now a cult classic!
This is one of my favorite movies of all time but I always have to skip the dog pen part. As a Husky owner, imagining my Kota trapped in there is too much to handle
I had huskies too. Tough as hell, but nothing can go against the thing!
The thing (2011), it is a direct prequel to the 1982 film of the same name by John Carpenter.
It's a great movie that helps you to understand what did happen before.
"Why would you be worried if you know you're not the thing?"
Because you can't know you're infected until it breaks out of you.
2:07 he looks familiar because he played Ego the living planet on Guardians of the galaxy. He’s also the father of the actor who played John Walker. ❤
Midsommar scarier than The Thing? What?
Yea that was a funny thing she said, when she said that I said ta myself WTF and laughed 😂
This movie is amazing. I have been suffering from depression and I fell upon your channel and I love it so thank you! The thing in comics made a direct sequel to this movie and it was a lot of fun and picks up right after this movie ends
MacCready is the legendary action actor, very young Kurt Russell.
This movie is done so masterfully, you hardly suspect where it's going to go next. Chef's kiss
When you started almost dry heaving, so adorable.
Not a movie for people that become nauseous easily! 😂
FINALLY. Mary is watching an actual Horror film for Halloween season XD and it's one of the very best. Mary of this film almost made you puke, just wait until you watch 1986's The Fly XD
You didnt include one of my favorite lines! "I know you gentlemen have been through a lot. But when you find the time... I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS F***ING COUCH!"
What's fun about that?
@@Jutrzen Not too bright, are you?
@@Blutteufel Can't you understand a simple question?
My favourite John Carpenter movie is the original version of 'The Fog' which came out in 1980. There was a remake in 2005, but unfortunately it's just not as good as the original.
none of Carpenter’s movies remakes matches the originals
Best practical effects of all time!
Saw this for the first time when I was 10 or 11. It still ranks very high on my list of favorite films.
The thing does not have queen. This does not have any hierarchy at all. Every creature is independent and amorpfhous.
This had tremendous impact on the big screen. It's one of the best science fiction horror movies, along with Alien, The Fly, and The Terminator.
Plus it's just a tense situation to begin with
You were having a good time with that chair scene 🤣
Just starting the vid. Props for making it through. RIP all dogs. Shouts out to all those involved in this masterpiece.
Edit: Last of Us footage. Where?
Deep Rising and Lake Placid! Kings of underrated movies.
80s films were something else
Indeed.
The Thing was the original Among Us.
Even the devs of the game said they got inspiration from the movie.
In the game The Thing, it's stated that Child's died due to the Cold and McCready was alive and helped a soldier to kill one of The big Thing through a helicopter.
Yep and i love how you find the liquor bottle next to Childs' body, the little details.
@@Acme1970 yeah, and I'm still finding out what happened to Kate Actually.
Finally! We got to this film! Excellent!!
Mac is played by Kurt Russell who has been in many, many movies.
