Hey Top Hat Gaming Man, dev of the new Double Dragon Gaiden here. I've been watching your channel both for fun and for research over the course of development, so it's great to see the game I've been working on finally here as well. Thanks a lot for covering the game and I hope to share more in the future :)
Love the concept art, but the sprite aesthetics are going to have to grow on me. Hopefully the gameplay is top notch. As much as I loved Double Dragon Neon, my one minor nitpick with it is that the gameplay didn't quite feel like Double Dragon (i.e. such as no grappling and knee bashing, etc.) I'm curious why Ark System Works didn't just let Wayforward Games run wild with the Double Dragon license, considering the bang up job they did with DD Neon and the two River City Girls games.
At first I was like "why does it look like that" and then you showed Streets of Red and now it makes sense. I don't know, the style doesn't click with me but maybe it'll be fun
Just the other day I was discussing with my brother about some of the top NES games and Double Dragon 2 was one of our picks (some of the turtle games also deserved a mention), a really solid introduction to the genre before we met the golden age arcade classics to be that released in the arcades
It looks good but would have been better if it they followed the pixel style of first two arcade games. But otherwise the graphical style is fine for the kind of game it is.

Im actually happy to hear we are getting anew Double Dragon game. And one that seems like A LOT of consideration for replay value is taken. Im definitely going to play this once it drops. also Streets of Red I like to try out too.

I don’t understand what’s so hard about reviving a classic IP and keeping it to its roots. Double Dragon was an arcade game. Not a Rogue/like/lite/RPG or whatever. Streets of Rage 4 is the gold standard revival still. And Fight n Rage will probably be the best new Beat em up for decades. These companies gotta learn to stick the roots of the genre. Great coverage on this tho.

Yes!! The original. Im ready My all time favorite beat em up franchise. I spent decades playing/loving this series as sparse and wierd as it was at times.
I’m very excited for a new double dragon game though I gotta get use to the art style(wish they were a bit taller like River city girls 2 characters) but the action and animation look good. Music is on point as well. Hopefully this can be one of the better double dragon games and it looks like there is room for 4 players. Could you imagine? 🙏🏽-23rd Stal
Great channel! I love it especially when you cover new beat ’em ups. Since these were the games that I mostly played when I was a child. I don't like the cartoony look of the new Double Dragon. My favorite game from this genre is Mother Russia Bleeds. It's a pity that it doesn't have a sequel. However I've discovered lately a new beat ’em up called Skinny and Franko: Fists of Violence. It's amazing. What do you think about it?
Neon was fun tongue in cheek revisit but I have no interest in double dragon bobble head edition. Tell them to crawl back in their hole and come out when they are ready to be serious.
I always was thinking the blue one billy and the red one jimmy play all double dragon as a kid the one I like was super double dragon the others ok to but this one would be a know for me not my kind of thing 👍

There seems a little bit of “River City Girls” involved too, especially if coins are spilling.
It looks good but would have been better if it they followed the pixel style of first two arcade games. But otherwise the graphical style is fine for the kind of game it is.

From the previews I've seen Abobo is one of the nine secret playable characters you can unlock.

Actually, the girl was killed in Double Dragon 2 so she must be a ghost.

Those are really good games. Streets of Rage 4 and River City Ransom Underground were also better than I hoped for.
You wonder if Arc System Works had more a hand in this to make sure it was truer in spirit.

Interesting take on the rogue genre, with a beat em up. Will definately keep an eye on this one. Dont like the art style but gameplay is king.

It looks kindof like an updated version of the sega master system version! But why does Billy have this silly grin and Jimmy looks pissed off?
