I love the bag. And the colors are out of this world. They take me back quite a few years I still have lots of it. I had used them for my Irish Chain quilt.
I'm fairy new to this wonderful world! I'm definitely new to Sue Dailey. She's beautiful, & oh how I'm looking forward to taking her lead. Thank you, always!🥰
I have to say a HUGH THANK YOU!!!! I watched this video and heard Sue's suggestion for needles. I am a hexi sewing NUT!! LOL! I have always fought fatigue and pain in my hands for my stitching hexi's. So I ordered her suggested needles and took them for a test drive! I cant begin to say thank you enough for this video!!!!! My hands dont hurt now!!!! I can just keep stitching and stitching and stitching!!!! This was a total game changer for me!!!!
I started doing this because of Jenny and Sue. My granddaughter played college basketball and we were traveling a lot to her games. I got a surprising amount done in the car. Then she stopped playing and I put it away. Time to get it back out. It is enjoyable to do while watching tv. I started with bigger hexagons, tho. I cut squares on my Accuquilt Go, and then just glued the squares on the hexagon papers.
Amazing how life changes mean putting away things for a later date. We'll look forward to seeing some of your new creations when you get everything out and sewing again!
I have my grandma’s, Grandmother ‘s Flower Garden. It was my inspiration to start quilting. This quilter Sue Daly has fired me to try again. Thank you both!
Sue and Jenny, I’ve learned so much about quilting from you both! Thanks for another inspiring video! I’m ready to tackle another English Paper Piecing project!
Made a quilt using EPP in the '70s finished in time for my first baby, At that time we used old greetings cards cut with a craft knife for backing and scissors for the fabric. Also no glue used - tacking/basting stitches used to hold fabric and backing card together. Took a very long time but 3 children and 3 grandchildren have used the quilt. All hand sewn and it's now needing some refurbishment....
I'm just learning! I cut my first ones with the Small rotary and template but they were a tiny bit too small and I struggled to have enough to turn. But I love seeing them together, and the glue method is my favourite. Gorgeous fabric SD, and that pink turntable is on my wish list!
She comes from South of the Equator and I love her "How to EPP" videos. I have her wagon wheel quilt pattern - I may not finish for 20 years but I love it!
Two of my favourite people together, what more could you want? Well, information and that's exactly what I got. I love my sewing machine, Cynthia, but there are times when we can't be together and so I am taking up EPP to fill in those gaps. Sue has convinced me that this is what I should be doing. I am looking on her website to decide what I want to do and get. Thanks for this. Loved it.
Welcome to English Paper Piecing, Sue! Because sometimes, you can't find a long enough extension cord for your sewing machine. ;) And because it's beautiful and fun, too. Thanks for joining us!
@@MissouriQuiltCo I live in Brisbane so I looked up Busyfingers, have bought the rotating mat, needles, etc. etc. I'm on my way!! Guess I am a bit ambitious … I am sewing small hexies!!! Love it. Going to make a bag with the small hexies so I can keep all my gear. Then for my next EEP adventure..... One can't have too many hobbies hey?
Thank you so much Jenny and Sue. I really really love 💖 this. I also would have liked to have seen the quilts from the overhead camera in more detail. xxx Mags
I remember the flower garden quilts from my childhood. I have come to love the hexagons in a scrappy configuration with no paths. I love bright colors and small prints. The question is, will I live long enough to finish a quilt.
Cathy, I enjoy having handwork to do when I'm with a group and this would be great. The problem is that I'm 82 and this would take me a while to do a full quilt. I don't want to leave another ufo for my family.
Loved this tutorial Jenny and Sue. I think I may have to try this fpp... I've never done it, been too chicken to give it a try. What was the fabric line? And can I get it in Australia? 💜

Jenny thank you for bringing us this great tutorial and thanks to Sue for her demonstration on English piecing. Sue answered my main question and that was “do you remove the paper and how in the heck do you do that?” Thanks again ❤️
I love EPP as a mindless sewing project as you can do it whilst doing something else. I started sewing hexis when visiting my Mom in hospital before she passed. I have continued to do the rosettes in different sizes 1/4" - 3" . Each size is as easy as any others. But the tiny ones need trimming g on the back as can be bulkier. I will applique them onto a background & quilt it as a wall hanging in her memory.
Although I enjoyed the video, I do not think I am ready to try EPP yet. Any suggestions of other quilt patterns to showcase Sue’s beautiful fabric line?
Thank you so much for this tutorial - loved it! I'm one step closer to trying English Paper Piecing :)! I guess I need to break through the blockage - of feeling it is too hard.
Looks like there is a pattern for that! It's here: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/110003/sue-daley-designs/sue-daley-designs/sue-daley-sweetwater-pattern-with-templates-and-papers
Intrigued with this technique! Definitely going to try EPP! Sue and Jennie make it look so easy and I think even I, a beginner EPP'er can do this! Sue's fabric line is darling, but I can imagine the colors of Kaffe Fassett's fabrics! Awesome!!
Thanks for the little focus on needles... is the number of the needle, have to do with the length of the needle? If so, is a #15 longer or shorter than an #11 needle... and... one more question? can a person really sharpen a needle in a bar of soap?
As for needle sizes, the higher the number, the thicker the needle. As for the soap trick, it's not actually sharpening the needle, but filling in the rough surfaces on a worn needle so that it pulls through smoother. The link below explains it better, though! www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Blunt-Needle

Apart from the construction method of the hexagons, this is pretty much a copy of fellow Australian quilt designer, Judy Newman’s ‘Dilly Bag’. Great tutorial as always. Thanks MSQC!!
When you get Sue and Jenny together in the same tutorial, it's ALWAYS a great tutorial!

Sue, you are sensible and encouraging not to mention a good teacher. I love being able to skip the basting.

The flower pot quilt is my fav.
It's way too cute, right? Lots of fun!
So the whole quilt including the ones she showed at the end are all done by hand!!
Oh my goodness I love the quilt in the back and the folded one at the table. Do a tutorial or I want the pattern!
