I used to be able to record so easy with Pro Tools LE 7.5 with an M-Box 2 Pro.
I now have Pro Tools 10 with an RME Babyface Pro and I can’t figure out how to do anything for the life of me.
Can’t even set up a simple audio track with my mic. WTF
Excellent! Thank you!
Cannot hear playback on headphones only the speakers...the output doesn't even show the headphones as an option to select. Everything is plugged in correctly on the Focusrite 2/2
Yea this was ❤️ bro good lookin kause mine kept playn out my laptop 💻🤣
Thank you so much for this well-detailed video!! It is very helpful. :)
Thank you for your nice comment. Glad I was able to help.
Well, I still haven't applied the steps that you outlined, as I haven't yet opened up my Pro Tools. However, when I do, I shall be using this as a guide. :)
Thanks for the support

additional: my computer recognizes the m-audio as i can select it for my output speakers for anything else.
i have a m-audio m-track solo and i cant get audio out. i can get audio out everywhere else and the meter shows audio in thru my guitar. i just cannot get the playback

Soundgrains i got the mbox mini but when i go to set up/ playback engine on pro tools 12 i dont have the option to switch to the mbox. Its like the program doesnt recognize the interface. Whats up with that. What should i do??
+JAY GREEN are you on a Mac or Windows? What's the version of your operating system. The Mbox mini has a set of drivers that needs to be installed separately. Unfortunately those drivers were not updated for the latest OS.
sir can you please tell how to use protools without internet
Get a USB ilok dongle. Cuz you’re probably accessing the license via a cloud session if you gotta have the internet
I’ve got an m audio fast track pro and for some reason can’t get anything working on it? Do you have any idea what I might need to fix it? Thanks.
i have the same exact interface and pro tools isnt able to read it. did you find a soulution or is it just an old interface that pro tools doesnt bother to download the drivers? cuz other progroms are able to read it. (im using pro tools 21)
I have a Behringer UMC404HD and I'm using ProTools First via Windows 10 with 16gb DDR4 RAM, i7 7700K. Whenever I use it to record, the track seems to always crack. I have made sure the signals in the green, I have tried recording in mono and stereo but no luck. I've also tried using Audacity and Reaper but the same applies to these too.
Is there any reason it's doing this?
can i use a Steinberg audio interface to record in Protools?
Yes. That should be possible as long as Stromberg has ASIO Drivers for Windows or Core Audio Drivers for Mac
I am using a Zoom R16 as an interface on Mac Pro Tools 12. I set the Zoom as the play back engine and was able to record tracks but i have no clue how to set up the I/O so that i can hear the audio and midi tracks.
same man im using the R24 and it doesnt say there is any input. Have you got it working now?
@@zachfitzgerald instead of trying to figure out the i/o settings to get the sound to come out from the computer. I used the built in left and right output on the R16 and plugged in studio monitors and it works perfect. Make sure the playback engine is on zoom and that both input and output are routed coming out of the zoom. Hope that helps.
hi guy i dont have Pro Tool First Aggregate I/O in setup menu and no built-in output too. Why is that?
Are you on Mac OS or Windows? Aggregate I/O and built-in outputs are only on Mac OS.
Pro Tool First 12 on window 10
Which audio interface are you using? You should be selecting your external audio interface if you have one. Some built-in audio interfaces do not have drivers that support Pro Tools. If you do not have an external audio interface and your default output doesn't show in the setup menu, you'll need to install ASIO4ALL. This should provide a set of drivers that might help to get your built-in audio jack working. External audio interfaces are still the best option.
I have Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2Gen Studio connected but i have no monitor audio speakers. Is it allright to set up?
Yes. That is perfectly fine. The headphone out at the front is the same as the audio outputs at the back. You should see your Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 shown in the list of devices in the playback engine window.
What is a compuDer?
is a presonus studio 24c compatible with protools ??
It doesnt reconize my mic
I need help!
My audio is fine, set up that ASIO driver thing, but the biggest problem is that the playback audio only plays on my laptop speakers, not through my headphone speakers please help, how do I set this up. And by the way, when I clicked playback engine, it didn't come up with the same dialogue box. Why is that? Also
I'm using Windows 10
I have the same problem, do you have a solution yet? would be glad if you could help.
Brahh pro tools literary crashed once i clicked the Playback button
Tem alguma forma de trocar as tracks pelo controlador ?
How on pc
I just bought a scarlet forcusrite 2i2 2nd generation and it come with Pro Tool First. I did install all the driver and Pro Tool software, but I am having a problem of how do I route the audio from the computer system throught the forcusrite interface and get it into pro tools software. I try to open a karaoke clip from youtube and try to sing along and record my vocal and the audio from that youtube clip by using pro tool software, but all I heard back was only my vocal and no audio was recorded. Would any one please show me ho to set it to get the audio in as well.
Hi Kristy. Are you on MacOS or Windows?
Unfortunately audio interfaces or Pro Tools do not work to route audio from UA-cam. If you wish to route the audio from UA-cam to Pro Tools then you will need an additional software to assist in the routing. The much easier option is to download the audio from UA-cam and import it into UA-cam instead.
@@Soundgrains thank you for your responded.
my interface is plugged in and doesn't show up on the playback engine, can someone help? its a steinberg ur22
I’m not familiar with the Steinberg interfaces. Are you on MacOS or windows?
I'm on Windows with PT First, I have a scarlett 2i2 2nd gen and a NT1a mic --> I can not find any way to make my PT recognize my microphone. It will not pick it up at all, however it does see the scarlett... I can sing my heart out but it won't pick up sound... how do I fix it :{ ?
Did you turn on phantom power and bring up the gain on the correct channel?
@@Soundgrains what is phantom power? and I don't understand how to change the input on PTF
Sorry i have some problem when i import a sound into it and then i played i didn't hear anything (i used audio card on my laptop) Please Help thank
Hi! Have you followed all the setup procedures in the video? Are all tracks not working or just the imported track? Which version of Pro Tools are you using and are you using MAC or PC?
I do not have the IO tab. Using Pro tools First and Audient iD14 any hints?
I'm not in front of my workstation right now but if I remember correctly Pro Tools First doesn't have the IO Settings panel. It's only in the full version of Pro Tools. Sorry about that.
So I've got a focusrite scarlett solo interface and tried plugging my electric guitar straight into it but it wasn't picking up any signal. Guitar knobs were turned all the way up, set it to instrument input, and turned the gain knob all the way up. However, when I strummed, no input was going through (no green/red light on the interface or noise bars on the instrument input on pro tools first). I believe it's not the wire or guitar because I tried it with two guitars and both would play through an amp with the same wire. Any thoughts?
Hmm.. Seems strange. You should at least be able to have the green ring light up on the Focusrite Scarlett Solo. Just to confirm that the cable you are using is a 1/4 inch TS cable and not a TRS cable? And the volume knob on your guitar is all the way up?
Thank You
+My Secret Collective glad I was able to help.
Because of you I'm up and running with my Berhinger UFX1204 Multi channel mixer. Its been bugging me for weeks that I couldn't get all channels to show up on the DAW (Pro Tools 10 HD in this case). This solved that totally. I hope this helps someone else! Thanks Soundgrains :-)
+My Secret Collective awesome!! Nothing feels worse than buying a new piece of gear and not be able to use the all the channels. Do let me know what other videos you would like to see or that would be useful. I'll try my best.
You know it man!
That's good to know. Your tut was clear and concise. Next time I run into a problem I hope I remember soundgrains!! Nice job man. I'm already Subbed :-)
+My Secret Collective thanks for the sub! Have fun with your behringer!!
Can anyone help me? I got this message when trying to pick my interface on playback.[ Assertion in "E:\Code\238949\Protools\AAE\Source\AAX\CFicAAXWidget.cpp", line 994]
sounds like an issue with your drivers for your audio interface? have you check if your audio interface has any updated drivers?
@@Soundgrains I have the same problem with the same interface, but how can you check to see if there are new updates for it?
Is RME Fireface 802 compatible with Pro Tools 11?
Are you using MacOS or windows? From memory RME interfaces usually have few problems with software. Best to check with RME
Not even be able to restart it
O don't see setup on my pro tools to change my interface
Am trying to switch to a different mic then the one that came with the pro tools
+Elease Thomas sorry for the late reply. Which version of Pro Tools are you using?
pro tools could not initialize the focusrite usb
asio bla bla, you change everythin do everything and nothing happen and the stupid daw freeze.. hate pro tools
+louis fiol sorry to hear that. But Pro Tools is really particular with audio drivers on Windows. I know some people have succeeded with using ASIO4ALL. But I'm surprised if Focusrite can't help with that. Have you tried checking in with Focusrite's support?
Use Logic as us, winners do!
@@Soundgrains Asio4all and you haveto do the macro at startup to make sure it's starting up with asio4all as the audio driver. hope this somewhat helps.
i like you, no fucking around!
+Jeff Atkinson thanks! Glad you like it.
@2:22 Increase the Buffer Size, Quick! xD
how do i play other media threw my mbox monitors
+Beast ThaLyrikal which mbox are you using and what is your operating system? Mac or Windows?
mbox2 n windows
+Beast ThaLyrikal I don't have my mbox 2 with me to test now. But if you have it working with Pro Tools then the windows Drivers should be installed. In the taskbar, click on the speaker icon and open 'playback devices'. You should see your mbox or a digidesign audio interface listed. Set that as your default playback device and all audio should be played through it.
yea when i go there my mbox isnt shown but its clearly hooked up....do u kno y that is
+Beast ThaLyrikal are you using Windows 10? I haven't used my mbox with windows 10 but it sounds like the Drivers need reinstalling or something. I'll need to dig out my mbox 2 to check.
terrible tutorial, thank you!
I am currently experiencing difficulties. I am using Pro Tools 12.6. For an interface, I am using an Alesis Multimix 8i USB FX. I have everything selected how it should be for me to start recording. However, whenever I click to change the input of a selected track, Pro Tools does not recognize my interface as a usable source for input. How do I resolve this?
+Justin Kitzmiller Hi! are you using Windows or MacOS? Which version of the OS?
I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X.
+Justin Kitzmiller so you're able to set the Alesia as the playback engine? But can't use the inputs?
is there an error message when you change the input of a selected track? Or is the track just grayed out. How do you know Pro Tools isn't recognizing the interface?
At the moment it sounds like the IO Setting aren't setup correctly to use the inputs. If you could show a screenshot of your io setup and the error you are getting then it would be much easier to troubleshoot.
The Alesis is available in my playback engine. There are no error messages that have been present. I try to set the input on an audio track in correspondence to the interface; however nothing shows up when I click on input. The interface option within the input button in Pro Tools is grayed out. I figured it could have been something in my Audio MIDI Setup. Although the Alesis is recognized within this window. I have it set up so that the Alesis is selected for input and the Built-In Output for output.
+Justin Kitzmiller sounds like a problem with the I/O setup window. This is covered at the 3:10 mark.
1. Double check that your setting the input on an audio track
2. Open your I/O Setup window. In the menubar click on Setup -> I/O Setup.
3. Go to the Input tab and check that your inputs are showing here. Reset the paths by deleting all existing paths and click on default if required.
4. If the paths are already showing then ensure the input configs are of the correct type. Stereo inputs will only show up on stereo audio tracks while mono inputs will be available on mono tracks only. You could be trying to assign inputs to a mono track but only have stereo input paths configured in the I/O Setup panel. The default feature works well but isn't always perfect.
you know you can just cut out the video by editing if you mess up dude
I need help
Hi! What help do you need?
@@Soundgrains I also need quite a bit of help. I'm very new to this and I can't get my MacBook Air to recognize my MKII speakers. I cannot hear anything on my speakers.
play the video 1.5 x to make it fluid lol
my interface is not working like this 😡
+MrCoby303 sorry to hear that. What problems are you having?
