- Jon reviews the Dillion U.S.A. model DFB 603RX Phoenix guitar. This guitar is a beauty, and it's unusual control setup gives you infinite sounds & capabilities. Check the sites & sounds out for yourself in this video, you'll be glad you did. Hope you get a chance to play one of these. Produced, Shot & Edited by Brian Way.
Always look forward to seeing one of your new video's. You and Brian do a great
job on these. Always Interesting, nice video and sound.
i had never considered a Firebird-style guitar til i saw this video demo. Now this Dillion is on my list!
gorgeous guitar, looks and tone
Thanks for the explanation of what the strap buttons do!
make videos of just jon way playing i love it!!!!
beautiful guitar
Great reviews Jon. I have 3 different dillions and they are great!!!!
What a great review nice guitar. I just bought a Dillion Phoenix firebird, and it came right outa the box set up perfect and action was great to. I'm so impressed with this guitar nice neck profile and the pickups are great it's the best firebird I've played, on parr with Gibson. And for the price the rule, has great tone overall finish was great frets are quality and has great sustain and very versatile with the pickups. I have 2 other telecaster Dillions and they are solid. Bottom line fantas
Jon, you are the coolest and the best. I wish you were my uncle. :)
MATZ: I owned both the EPI and the Dillian and the Dillion,by far,is a better guitar.....the pickups are far superior,and workmanship is also better..people are so hung up on "brand names" they tend to overlook a 'better' product....And Jon....THANKS for a REAL demo...instead of just turning on the camera,and trying to impress the masses...you did all the right stuff to demo the guitar..THANKS again....just telling it like it is! Gonna get me another Dillion....Sunburst this time.
yes, yes there is the guitar, the more important question is, where is the buy now button in the dillion website?
the videos are really nicely done. but i have one request/suggestion, and it would be easy to accmplish. Make two versions of the video, one with talking and playing, and the other with just playing. I think people would love to have the two options.
Got to agree with some others here; the processed sound makes it really tough to hear what the instrument really sounds like-especially with some gain.
WOW
Hey Jon, thx for the vid. Just wondering how u'd compare the dillion vs the gaskell firestarter?
Nice demo. How does this guitar balance standing up? Some firebird types are neck heavy, is this one?
Gorgeous guitar. I want one.
How much does it weigh?
Can you order this with a maple fretboard and gold hardware?
Thanks
Wow, magnificent guitar. What is the price for this beauty?
Are these all your guitars Jon?
It does sound good through my mesa boogie though
Jon!! I hear u can now get left handed Gibson Firebirds, they're a studio model so they aren't that expensive. Just thought u'd like to know
Could you describe the neck profile & compare it to the Gibson Firebird V, which is pretty thin for my taste? Thanks!
so what is the point of the middle pickup?
is it Neck Through John? Do you know the Fretboard radius? Pearloid (non Genuine pearl) Trapezoid inlays.
Anyone know how many wires their pickups have? The video talks about a p/p to add/remove middle pup, but the website, and John Dillion, informs me that they have coil taps. Anyone take a look?
Lefthandeds FTW :)
*I don't understand how you can be evaluating an instrument and apparantly many and not allow the tone of the guitar to come through. I've played guitar for a long time and have owned Dillions, Epiphones, Samicks, Electra's ,Ibanez and many others and can hear the difference in the pick ups when played straight into an amp with a little reverb. This would be a nice baseline to use before adding effects.
How come yours has white knobs. Did u add those yourself?
Also how do these pickups compared to those of a Les Paul.
Are they Hotter? It sounds more trebley than a paul to me. But
I've noticed Foo Fighters use Firebirds, for most of their Heavier songs.
Nice.
What amp are playing through here?
How much do these weigh?
I owned a Firebird V and it weighed over 9lbs - too heavy for me - are these lighter like no more than 8lbs?
Thanks
@brianway1
I've been looking for one of these for a long time. Your place there looks like a guitar store. Do you sell this exact model/color and can you ship to Singapore?
Cheers!
is this guitar the same size as a Gibson Firebird or is it like Gaskill ones that scale the size down?
How would it be compared to a gibson firebird?
Does the middle pick up work?
Do you recommend this guitar ? ( music style : zz top to motörhead )
is the neck just a set-neck or neck-thru like the original fb has?
I have a dillion double neck sg style in pearl white never play it though
OK. What are the pups like? Hot? What impedance/DC resistance?
@deerfoot you know thats a good idea i should of thought of that earlyer thanks the only thing is unless your in ontario canada may be sol on that one eh but regardless thanks :)
does this have a wide fretboard or thin
@shakey64
I have been dealing with the same problem! I'm also a very big JW fan and I love the Gibson Firebird.. My uncle has got two, but indeed the price is to much isn't it. Maybe you like the Tokai Firebird? The Epiphone Firebird is a very nice replica I think!
By the way.. nice vid Brianway1!
@deerfoot81 hello there are you talking about my doubleneck guitar than yes
enjoyed the review. I just saw these on ebay. Ive been wanting a Firebird for years. (big Johnny Winter fan)...the Gibsons cost too much...the epiphones dont look right. I think this guitar may be the one. thanks.
doesn't that girl from Sliver sun pickups have the same guitar? I like that body design!!
It would be great to hear it without the chorus. We can't know what the real guitar sound is with chorus engaged.
Dillion phoenix's features are good anyway.
@deerfoot ill make a video
@manbearpig937 nevermind
its an OUTPUT jack!!! signal goes out from guitar to amp.
it would be better if you dont use chorus and/or reverb for the reviews..
should be better than epi
That is an awful processed amp tone, rendering the demo completely useless.
