4:27 hint: you can use one "Split disjoint mesh" command instead of explode and join and also both the resulting meshes will remain closed, so you don't need to check for that.
If you want to just change the size, with this ring I would use the "flow along curve" command. First, draw accurately the circle for the current ring size (you can use "vertex" snap to help you). Then measure the diameter of the circle and scale it (with copy option) to the new ring size. Now you have 2 circles and you can use the "flow along curve" command to change the size. If you want to keep the top design you can make a small gap in the shank at the bottom using "mesh boolean" command, then use "flow along curve" with "stretch=no" option and fill the gap in the shank.
