In the USA it is an NHTSA outdated mirror law. There needs to be an NHTSA side-view camera requirement like there is in the USA for mirrors.

Why even put them there
If we have cameras pout them on back and front and some on roof for side view
Then use the top 4 inches of windshield your mirror that sees all sides and back as panoramic view
If you know how to use your mirrors correctly, theres no blind spots in a car.
