3D printings are becoming easier to use and capable of better results, so why not use them to create amazing projects. In this video, I showcase six hand selected projects primarily made with a 3D printer. I advise on how hard they are to print, assembly difficulty, hardware required and educational value.
All of these projects were worthwhile and satisfying, so thank you to the creators who released them free of charge. Also, a big thanks to my kids for their help, especially my daughter, who has all the hallmarks of a budding maker.

The last two - but especially James Bruxton's, in my opinion - are also teaching some very valuable core skills: general problem solving and extrapolating from incomplete instructions. These skills might be so fundemental to you that you didn't even realise it, but anyone who sets out to recreate any of James' projects is going to have to fill in some blanks for themselves. That's not meant as a criticism, but rather to highlight how those projects can be very useful for developing skills a person will use every day at work or school.
As a person who doesn't like step by step instructions I'm going to have to do a couple of projects just for fun.
I like videos like these that show case new prints. I would like to see 3d printing youtubers feature a new thing to print at the end of their videos
These are incredible. The increasing complexity means there is something for different maker levels. Thank you for sharing these.
I really liked how you broke down each project. I would love this to become a series of yours - I'd watch another hundred!
Yep! If there's another video in this series, I'll watch it as soon as it comes out
You’ve got my vote
I've had a few 3D printed projects like this over the years, just not structured like this. I will make a playlist and there will definitely be more 3D printed projects in the future.
Kudos for the Ayrton Senna shirt
Those figurines are great for stop motion animations!
Michael you are an inspiration and your videos always end up on my saved Playlist. (Also a BIG thank you for your work talking to Bambulab about custom firmware - another example of how much you do and care for our community)😊
Well put I completely agree, thanks Michael!
More videos like this. Projects that are good for education.
This is some great content, seconded.
great suggestions! Thank you
Hans Maximus Julian Moleman! I LOVE it!
The poses were the best part of the video - what a good game!
Great video as always. Keep up the good, fun and educational work.
Best name for a figurine EVER!
I love the *13 models. I printed one at 250% in PETG, stands about 18" tall.
Good video! Thank you!
Don't think I've seen that shirt before, love it!
Can't wait for your next TT racing vid!
Nice presentation. The Toroidal Launcher seems to be the most practical to illustrate mechanics and mechanisms that can be created with 3D printers. The next level would be to teach how to design the parts with a CAD software.
Thanks for the Video
We have been making rust repair panels with 3d scanner, 3d printer, and shop press. Easiest way to restore a rusty body panel.
thanks for sharing.
have a nice day.
Greetings from the Galilee.
Great video, love the eyeballs!
Made Lucky 13 for my son before Christmas. He loves it and like your daughter we took turns posing him, me before work, my son before bed. Great little game we have going.
Those photos of Dummy 13 flirting with Exo-suit :D you made my day!
The eyes are really cool i want to try that
These are some great projects, and the last two definitely got complicated pretty quick but in a good way. I was a little sad to see that you did not call out electroboom during the full bridge rectifier. 🤪
Thanks for showing off Dummy 13! Or Hans, I should say…
very good ideas!
You should add a few capacitors to that hand crank. That way, the power doesn't fluctuate that much and you will have a better experience with your emergency charger (Li-Ion batteries prefer constant voltage and constant current).
I only mentioned it briefly but I did include some as per the original build instructions. I found the measured voltage was significant higher after adding them. I figured the fluctuations were like PWM without them.
Awesome projects. But the shirt was tops
I have four Dummy 13s, including a silver knight and a black knight. I recommend the knight skin/armour. Its brilliant.
I made the toroidal launcher with my son a little while back. To make it easier for him to launch I made the bottom grip longer and a longer top shaft to improve hand clearance.
I'm struggling with this. What filament did you use, my dimensional accuracy is not good.
@@stevenborg2477 just a inland black pla, my fit with the triangular part in the bottom wasn't good, so I had to make it a little bigger with a Dremel. Then lube is also pretty essential, the first little bit it took a lot of torque to get it spinning.
Great video. it would be greatly appreciated if you could have a wiring diagram for the joysticks to your uno. Thank you
Nice Video, Subbed!
Could the generator be mated with a wind vane or it is not possible.
I think the electricity generator with tyroidal planetary gearset would be right up your alley michael.😮
Dummy 13 at 250% is awesome! Add the lamp mode remix and it makes the coolest desk lamp ever!
I see MP4/4, I upvote :)
My biggest claim to fame ever was driving four laps in that car at Interlagos in 2003.
That sounds amazing :)
Have printed quite a few the DUMMY 13s as stocking stuffers for my nephews, they loved them. Printed a 250% one for myself!
You should try to feed the generator with some eletricity and see how it would perform as a motor
@TeachingTech Regarding the poseable figure, you mentioned using PET-G or ABS. Just curious if you have tried PLA+ (PLA Pro) which is more resilient and durable for mechanical items like this? 🤔
Ive used Sunlu PLA+ only yesterday and its fine. The trick with Dummy13 is you MUST calibrate e steps and flow and use the Outer/Inner option under wall settings. These things are key for precision prints and this just wont fit without them. Just about the print the Deadpool accesory kit.
I'm pretty sure I know where you'll end up once you double the potential for posing.
Hey what happened to the tt racing channel that was so cool
Good video
Plastics should be lubricated with silicone and not oil 😉
What is or how do you achieve that triangular forged carbon look on the top of your remote? 12:18 Man so cool.
Somebody likes Ayrton Senna! Awesome videos, BTW!
There's a female lucky 13 that's got a cute heart torso that I love.
Loved the projects, really looking forward to doing the hand crank charger
Also I was curious if you've considered doing a 3dsets rc model on the channel? They just released an awesome s30 Z model that would probably be up your alley
Never heard of it but I'll look into it.
Wow! Incredible. Thanks for the suggestion.
Those joysticks where seriously 60bucks!
When I'm bored I walk around the house and look for things that annoy me that can be improved with 3D printing and I start a little project out of it.
Given the small sizes, Have you tried Dummy 13 in RESIN ?
Attach the planetary gears from the launcher to the generator, and you don't have to turn it as much or as fast.
Hahaha -- I think you need a treadle or pedal version of the generator so that you can do something useful with your hands while generating with your feet!
I'm interesting in adapting a gravity 'driver'. Wind up cord, let it fall very slowly, geared to spin the generator fast.
@@TeachingTech From a few quick calculations, such energy quantity would be almost negligible, unless your object is absolutely massive. You'd need a mass of about 1 ton dropped from condsiderable height to outperform handcranking for 1 hour in terms of watt hours produced, but it would be interesting to see nonetheless.
8:05 For the most material combinations that include plastic, silicone oil, or silicone grease (most time better if you can bring it in) will be the lubricant of choice. Normal oil is not good in lubing plastic. Sometimes it make it even worse. Every material combination has its own lubricants. For example wood. Try to use oil on wood. It will be much worse than without and it will start squeaking. For wood, hard wax is the way to go.
What is the link to Moleman's dedicated YT channel?
Hand crank your way to post apocalyptic mod-cons.
I plan to make to animatronic eyes!
The Exo Suit could go so far.
Application, liitle mini-servos, usbc connection, camera & flir sights, AUTONOMOUS HOME SECURITY
Are there any tt racing videos coming?
Very nice video. Quick question - do you happen to know which grade of magnets you used for the hand crank generator? I have been planning to build it, and I was just wondering which grade of magnets were used to get the voltages you measured since I am not planning on putting all 8 coils in series like you did, and I want to make sure I will still get a sufficient voltage. Thanks in advance!
They were man to be N52 as recommended by Tom, however they were cheap eBay ones rather than from a reputable magnet supplier. I have no way of measuring the strength, but I know the dimensions were off compared to Tom's video. Mine needed to be glued in whereas Tom's were a nice press fit.
@@TeachingTech Got it. Hopefully if I get n48 magnets, I will have better results with fewer coils in series. We will see... Thank you for your help!
@@TeachingTechhow come you stopped uploading to the tt racing channel? Would love to see some more videos! Thanks!
@@nathanholy Just a matter of progressing far enough to have something for the next video. I will get there, don't worry (but please be patient).
How could anyone click thumbs down for your videos?! What is there not to like?!
what filament is that you are using? the one that is sort of gun metal grey? looks amazing
It is eryone PLA. I got it from x3d.com.au but it appears they no longer stock it.
Found the spool, 'Rainbow Lagoon' if you are searching for it elsewhere.
hello, I've seen in this vidéo and the previous one that you have an strange bed on your bambulab,
where did you have purchae it ? and is it real carbon ?
Thank you verry much for your work
have a nice day

I've printed lucky 13 parts(did a ninja turtle one) in Pla but admittedly I never read the instructions
What build surface are you using to get that finish?
It's either PET or PEO. There's also PEY that can leave a really cool hologram look!

At 10:27, how did you split this into several parts? Is this a Bambu slicer feature or is this available in stock PrusaSlicer too?
This is afeature in Bambu Studio/OrcaSlicer that I hope it ported back to PrusaSlicer. It's excellent for prints like this to organise everything.
The Dummy 13 frame can be printed with PLA+/PLA Tough but from what I've seen it gets worn down fast, not as fast as norm PLA but PETG would be better
Give your kids phones but they can only use what they can charge. Your kids will have massive arms by the time they hit college!
No (Michael) Afton robotics jokes in the comments? But seriously, that's probably the one print that most interests me in this video.
