It's been probably over thirty years since I last tied a classic trout fly. I have only tied dryflies, nymphs and salmon flies after that. Just started tying classic flies again and it is so much fun. Thank you for showing how to tie the wings. I have been struggling with that. I have now tied March brown, Telemarkskongen, Zulu silver, H. Favorite, Peterson Pernell and a few of my own patterns.
Hi Davie, The colour combination in this Honey Dabbler makes it a very attractive fly and was expertly dressed. As you say, there are some great techniques which can be used and practiced in other fly patterns we tie. Regards, Wayne 😀👍
Super looking dabbler mate. I’ve learned a lot from you. Thanks for sharing with us all. Have a great day and keep well my friend. Best Regards from West Virginia, Ken
Your flies do not need to be perfect. Because you are not there yet, does not mean you shouldn't try! I think Davie would be one of the first to tell you, that fish are far less fussy than you may think they are. Just start, that's all, I think Davie does some online courses for something in particular. Ask and give it a shot! If your a new tier or you are getting a bit Shakey over the years, don't stop you just need to have patience with yourself! Cheers from Canada!!
@@kerrypitt9789 Hi Kerry, thanks for those kind words. There's a whole lot you don't know. My medical condition makes sitting at a vice painful- spinal problems. I lean heavily on my right side. So much I've shot my ulna nerve in my right arm. I have tried making flies - not good but the fish sometimes take them, if I manage to make a 'good' cast. So I watch Davie his expertise, his methods and skills. I always made stuff so yes it's annoying I can't do what I once did. Take care, tight lines 👌👍⚓️
@@kerrypitt9789 thank you for the hints and encouragements. I have fly tying equipment but not the speed and steadiness of hand. I do try to tie but I get frustrated at myself. I should just do more and perhaps this winter will help focus my efforts. Kind regards
I'd love to see your version of the green machine/buck bug. It's a great pattern for trout and salmon in just about any color. Brook trout seem to love the green and orange versions.
Davie, one day if you are out filming on the water, could you consider doing a few minutes on how you fish these? Is it a dead drift or a slow retrieve? It would really be appreciated, thank you!!
A braw wee beastie Davie. Good tip about dying the mallard cinnamon. Thanks for the tips. 👍👏🎣
Wow Davie now that’s a well dressed fly and stunning for it.All the very best 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
Gorgeous wee fly Davie thanks for your time

The CdL Red Spinner is a "Pardón de Meana", invented in 1990 by a Spanish tyer known as Luis Meana. It is fair to admit it.
