    I dig the technique. Been playing bass for years and I've worked extensively with the tremolo technique on bass. I think the double popping begs for the addition of the ring finger for a third pop. Triplet popping. Makng the thumb one followed by a triplet pop going; ring, middle, index. Again, awesome tech. Thanks for the upload. Great work!

    I've honestly started to hate slapping and popping, not because it's a bad sound, but because it has become extremely overused and abused especially on social media. You'll always hear people play slap then pop, always that sequence, over and over. But your way of playing absolutely sounds professional and amazing!! You add variations in slap and pop, slides and hammer-ons. This is how bassists should approach slap and pop!!

      This is like the most beginner variation though lol, i always use slides and hammer on since i started slapping. More of an advanced technique is double thumb double pluck, adding tapping into your slap line, etc.

    Hey Andy, hope you're keeping well, I want to thank you for this video as I have heard this double-popping effect many times but didn't know what was going on technique-wise to make that sound. I hope to bring this into my own slap playing now that I understand it.

    Andy your strings are so close to your neck , I cant get mine that close , I get fret noise. I've tried everything , truss rod , saddle adjustments to no avail .
    I don't have anything to compare it to other than these video's.
    Thank you for your hard work , nice bass , nice slapping.
    Sure wish I had someone to take a look at my bass, its new had it almost a year .
    Cant say what kind but it should be more playable , I enjoy playing bass very much.

      Mark S B. Truss rod and saddles are not everything, you nutter.
      There's a clue. Take it to a luthier for an opinion.

      @Crodon 9 років тому +1

      Mark S B. You're not using a 10 grand Warwick, which has something to do with it.

      Mark S B. take it to a luthier and get the frets leveled.

      Es andy desde colorado haciendo una clase para basstheworld.com y el quiere mostrar un lick de slap de doble golpe, hace un poco de hammer off, bendings, pentatonicas, pero algunos no son conocen el double popping, el golpea con ambos dedos pero tienes q hacerlo muy rapido y eso toma tiempo, eso te da una oportuidad de explorar mas con tu skaping. Entonces eso es un pequeno lick que nos comparte y q lo practiques y tengas buen dia.

    Ок, cool. So, 5-th string for what? It, like 5-th wheel.. ))

    • @MonsterJuiced
      @MonsterJuiced 8 років тому +4

      What? A fith string to get FATTER lower notes which the upper octave couldn't possibly dream of achieving. Play a 5 string, cover your favorite tracks and instead of ending the groove on the higher note, end it on the lower. The 5th really helps with strong rhythm punches in between repetative licks too. Open up your mind man.
