I try to watch all of your videos sir, they are always informative and I have learned a lot from watching. There’s times in the semi truck that I can’t watch them but I can listen to them through the radio speakers.
I cant express how much better i understand from your explanation of the functions and settings of a fishfinder this has been a hard transition from as u young guys say old school sight fishing lol thank you
Thank you. This is the info I was looking for. Got my first boat. And I was having issues with the lowance. I was messing around trying to figure things out. And what you just brought to the table has just totally changed my next outing experience. I was doing the opposite of what you were doing. Thanks a million
Happy Fishing man. I’ll be on Tawakoni 3 days this weekend chasing those big blues! My home lake! Gonna enter Cabellas when I get good enough if I am able to. Just have to keep learning and spending time on the water.
Great info! Went on a guide trip with Adam Cook last week and truly realized how little I understand my graph. Trying to do my homework to be more successful. What I would pay to have a fragment of knowledge that guys like y'all have. God bless!
Great informational video as always. Just bought a smaller aluminum boat for the river that has a lowrance GPS and sonar on it. Not a touchscreen but hopefully it will still let me manually set it up, thanks for the video Chris. Keep em coming brother.
Great, informative video Chris. I don't have a color, 2-D sonar, but I did learn more about how to distinguish fish close to the bottom on my own unit. Someday, I'll be able to get myself a color unit, I think they could really assist me in locating fish close to the bottom.
Chris if you haven't done it yet maybe go over marking the fish with a waypoint and then position the boat using the graph. Its a struggle for me getting the anchor out and in the right place to cast on my waypoint. It's a challenge by yourself in fast deep water.
Thanks for the tips. I can tell you that I tend to over complicate my settings. I mess with everything so much I end up doing factory reset. I am going to try keeping it simple and see how I do.
Awesome video Chris! Not sure if you are a crappie fisherman or not, but if you are, a video showing crappie on 2d sonar and how you locate them using it would be very much appreciated! God Bless!
Could you show what crappie look like on 2D sonar and how you go about locating them on a video sometime? This Lifer Subscriber would greatly appreciate it! I'm hooked on your channel Bro! Thanks for all you do! BTW, You're a natural!
Thank you chris.i'm a new subsriber. I've been looking at your videos and like the information you give.i need to get on the chat with you and ask some questions. When and what time.
83 kilohertz same depth circle in 30 foot 30 foot circle, 200 kilohertz 1/3 depth in 30 foot of water 10 foot circle, when looking for fish use 83 kilohertz and in shallow use 83 , when fishing directly under boat use 200 , smaller cone but you know fish are under your boat . I hope this helps
So a large 15-20lb carp would be solid yellow whereas a big 15/20lb catfish would be partially yellow, due to the lack of heavy scales? My waterways are full of carp and cats and I want to be able to tell the difference
Chris I’ve got a hook triple shot and it’s only has 200/high chirp which would you choose? My older unit had 83 and I feel I liked it better ... fishing Ohio River near Owensboro...
Question. Say you have your lowrance on 2D, if you mark a fish, brush, or snag, is it marking exact location on your map? Does SI mark location better?
@Chris when the image of the fish comes on the screen, what is the relationship of the back (transducer) location on my boat. I'm trying to get an idea of where I am going to setup and cast.
Tommie my opinion is they are super cool and I’d love to have one. I think there could be some befits to them but definitely don’t see the need other than just wanting one.
That’s a great question and something I’ll be doing a video on at the end of the sonar series but I’d look at the hook or ti series from lowrance. Thanks for watching
Probally one of the best videos i have seen on how to read and understand a sonar. Thanks for the information chris

Chris you still using the same settings or have they changed. Also what unit are you running these days??
Great info Chris 👍
Is your unit the 3 in 1 active imaging?
Yes that was one of the first years it came out.
Another great video Chris! I'm running the same unit you are. Just curious - What is the benefit of displaying amplitude scope? Cheers!
Hey Trey there is no real befit it’s just something I’ve gotten use to having on there and a personal preference of mine.
thank you it help me alot
Your very welcome

Thank You 😊

Awesome information thank you for sharing!
Great vid! Thanks much for the instruction.. d:^)
Hey Chris. I have hook 2 7inch screen triple shot. What your doing will it work on mine. Trying to find catfish. Thanks
As far as what you see on your screen it will be the same thing and most of the settings should be the same or relatively close.
If I had to choose from those two I'd probably go with high chirp.
Question. Say you have your lowrance on 2D, if you mark a fish, brush, or snag, is it marking exact location on your map? Does SI mark location better?
Hey Michael I feel like I’m able to mark things better with side imagining but marking it on 2d Moro’s as well. Thanks for watching
Does the thermocline come into play on catfishing?
Great video. Will it work on hook 2. 7 inch triple shot
It should. Thanks for watching
@@slungercatoutdoors your welcome👍
@Chris when the image of the fish comes on the screen, what is the relationship of the back (transducer) location on my boat. I'm trying to get an idea of where I am going to setup and cast.
Great question Michael and it would be behind it. You see things on the screen as you go over them
I have the same gen 3 unit, I wanted to upgrade to the hds live unit but haven't been sold on to them yet , what's your take on it chris
Tommie my opinion is they are super cool and I’d love to have one. I think there could be some befits to them but definitely don’t see the need other than just wanting one.
Good video sir, what sonar would you recommend for around $500
That’s a great question and something I’ll be doing a video on at the end of the sonar series but I’d look at the hook or ti series from lowrance. Thanks for watching
Is this for dirty, silty river water settings??
Will your set up work on hook 2 7 triple shoot
I would think so
Better pic this time we could see the snor
Awesome!! I sure wish I was better at filming for you all but I’m trying!! Thank you for watching
