We have covered The Warning a few times on this channel and Dave has covered them many many times on his other channel, some songs he has loved and others he has been luckwarm with. We spent alot of time discussing the song but most people are only watching the first 5 minutes and then making an opinion on our thoughts based on that. We spent 28 minutes going over this track and talking about the overall feel of the song and of course the changes in the band. We know they area rock band, we area rock and metal channel, Dave is the Rock guy within the hosts. We understand alot of people do not agree with our opinion but we have to be honest in what we thought and hope that you watch the entire video before passing judgement.

Ok guys, have you ever reacted on this channel to the bands: Muse, Royal Blood, Placebo, Dead Poet Society, Arctic Monkeys, etc, etc????? No. The reason is because they are alternative rock bands with pop influences and this is a metal channel. Two very different things. Why continue reacting to something that is not your style? Then you should start Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, Drake, Kanye, to react to any genre.
I understand that you react to TW to attract the views of their thousands of fans BUT YOU COULD USE THAT TIME TO PROMOTE GOOD FEMALE METAL BANDS. Why waste time on something you don't like and it's not your style when you could help several metal bands give them more visibility. If you want to promote metal and not let it die, you could give all this time to create a video for female metal bands like Conquer Divide, who are opening for TW and released a great metal album last year and I haven't seen any videos of them in your channel.
You have Hanabie, Nemophilia, Trident, Lovebites, Band-Maid, Spiritbox, Rolling Quartz, etc, etc, etc. Why try to look for virtuoso guitars or experimentation in a band that isn't about that? because it's clearly in a genre that you don't enjoy. Why not dedicate more videos to these incredible female bands that need a lot of support? Because releasing a video ranting against a band you don't like? is a waste of time.
It is disrespectful not to dedicate time to bands that need exposure to focus on the negative of another that you don't enjoy. I know you want to be filled with views but you are only going to cause the opposite, making people unsubscribe. Believe me, if you make videos of these bands, the fans will also come in droves.
You have to understand that TW has never been, is not, and will not be metal, or heavy or experimental things. They have always been on the pop-rock side, I don't know what is expected of them when they are girls who listen to a lot of pop, who don't listen to metal, and their favorite artists right now are Billie Eilish, kpop, Royal Blood, they love Muse and Dead Poet Society. They don't like metal, and just because you liked 1 album doesn't mean they are going to continue in that line. They are outside the line of this channel.
The man in the middle looks very frustrated and disappointed but you have to understand that this is what the girls are, an alternative pop-rock band that is no longer in their line of taste. Let the girls be what they are: POP ROCK HEADS not metal-heavy-experimental heads. And please give more space to female hard rock and metal bands who need real support and don't waste their time on other things that you don't enjoy.

@@Itzzy515 Well actually, the name of the channel is Rock and Metal, and TW is a rock band that Dave at least has supported in the past. But you’re right, there are other bands out there with both small and large fandoms that could benefit from more reactions (though most the J-rock/metal bands you mention do get a lot of coverage on reaction channels.

I'm 66, rather young at the time but was at the Dec 6th 1969 free Rolling Stones concert at the Altamont speedway in Livermore. I've been to a few "Day on the green" concerts in the late 70's. I enjoy a wide range of music, played professionally for a short time. You mentioned a couple of my favorite songs Queen of the murder scene and Dull knives. I love Automatic sun, when they performed it live, I listened to it a good dozen times. Great song. I'm thankful I came across this band, great music, been listening to their play list on Amazon for a while now, never gets old. These girls are sharp, 24,22,19 and have been performing now for 10 years, getting ready to release their 4th album, I'm not aware of any other band that's achieved so much, have 10+ years behind them and at such a young age. They are on a world tour, a big hit wherever they perform. The Warning ROCKS!

In Mexico and all of Latin America, they appeal to audiences from 10 years old to 70. In the U S they seem to only be appealing to an older crowd. The younger crowd still very much into hip hop and heavy metal. I’m 66 and I grew up with this kind of music. It’s amazing how The Warning can have a sound that transcends almost four decades and bring back something that had died in the last two decades and still have The Warning unique sound🎸🥁🎸

My take is that both The Warning and their label know they are on the verge of breaking it big and even crossing over into mainstream. Doing so would open up the world to them and into an arena space. That's hard not to go for. Where they will go from here is unclear. They have the songwriting chops to be interesting and they play great live.

It's amazing that a mere 6 months ago I got into a battle with some moron in a Warning FB group about whether TW could fill an arena. He had all kinds of moronic arguments for why they couldn't. I'm pretty sure I'm on the verge of being right when I told him he was using the wrong metrics and looking backward rather than forward. The buzz is getting larger every day. Like any good homer, I'll be sad when the secret is out, but that will be more than made up for by the massive pride I will take in their success.

I don't know what crowd you are looking at, the crowd is young as it is worldwide except in the US. Next, they are known for catchy riffs. Next, the show in Bush Hall was a Covid two year delayed concert for Patrons that helped them get started financially. So logically, older people had the cash to help them out.

Hey Dave, and guys! It is actually their 4th full length album coming out, called "Keep Me Fed," and it comes out June 28th, not April. I understand that you like listening to a Full album (as do I), but I think all three of the previous albums have been great to listen to all the way through. Also, as the Band has said, this fourth album they are further experimenting, collaborating with co-writers, etc. And, they also said that their first three albums have a message in their songwriting, but this album is more about them having fun. I am all for them experimenting and trying to widen their audience. I have seen them live 5 times and each time has been a diverse audience age-wise. But, to be a really successful band they need more of the younger audience, and I think they understand that. Also, they each have a very diverse musical taste and I think they are trying to experiment with different sounds from the music that influences them. All their music has a hard edge, yet is catchy and hooky. It is hard rock with pop sensibility. In the old days of my youth it was called arena rock or radio rock. However, I am not a fan of so many studio effects and backing tracks on this latest album, but this will only be the second of a 5 album deal with Lava and they are only ages 19 to 24. Their music will grow, evolve and change as they do. I am not at all worried about their future! As one reactor put it, "They are undeniable!"
And to your other friend there, if he thinks rock is boring if it's riff, verse, chorus, etc. then why does he listen to it? I am older than all of you at the table and have been a rock fan for over 50 years. The Warning mix decades and subgenres of rock together in their songs and none sound the same. Isn't that what it is all about?

    • @Killerpixel11

I much rather hear them experimenting early (they do still sound hard af live, anyway) than release the same-old, same-old for twenty years and end up just another washed-up rock group.

Do The Warning write most of their songs with a traditional song structure (intro-V/PC/C/V/PC/C/B/C etc. )? Yes, because that structure has stood the test of time for creating popular, approachable, singable songs. They have never claimed to be a metal or prog rock band. It is TW’s knack for creating variations and unpredictable transitions in a song that sets them apart. I think it is also presumptuous to assume that they are being unduly influenced by the label or producer.

You guys have valid points. The thing you need to remember is that most bands need to have that first accessible album or many for that matter to get the independent freedom to release a concept album like QOTMS. They have been playing and touring for 10 years and not making a cent. They understand if they want to headline bigger venues they need to get the radio play you mention. Sick was 19th on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart last week. Local radio is beginning to play it as well as older songs from Error.

    Guys, with all respect…
You must understand that they are young and they are trying different sounds.
These ladies are capable of everything at this point. They can play pop/metal/rock and everything in between.
Their music is coming from them, they have the control, but they are smart enough to understand that music is a business.
If they agree with their producers and manager to tweak the sound to reach more people, absolutely nothing wrong with that.
That’s why they are on top of the world, and you guys are reacting to videos on UA-cam.
If you want to be a successful band, you can stay true to yourself and at the same time, you can take smart decisions to succeed.
“The Warning” has a very clever manager that knows how to sell the band.
They have a record label that is giving them freedom. Not many bands nowadays have that luxury. Remember, these girls negotiated a contract with Lava Records for 7 months. Literally fighting for their music.
They connect with their fans and patreons constantly on social media, making their fans feel appreciated.

What’s funny is that nearly every rock record I’ve owned in my life was Songs in the 3-4 minute range. And I’ve listened to many genres since being a child the 70s.
I’m not disagreeing that qotms was their most musically advanced record.
But to say that they are less rock now is really odd. Error was a full length album done with their new label. Finished 4 years ago. Not released for two years because they couldn’t support it due to pandemic. Their first album xxi century blood was outstanding as well.
Every album is excellent, but error has been their biggest by far in success.
If they had released what we’ve heard so far of Keep Me Fed at that young age, they would have possibly taken off with more popularity, not less.
Concept albums are generally very uncommon, and absolute rarities honestly. I love them, but they are the outlier, NOT the norm, and not The definition of rock by any means.
Just look at the top 100 albums in rock history and you might find 6 or 7 at most.
If you prefer prog and similarly long winded complex music, as i love also, then the warning isn’t in that genre. They are rock, not prog.
Just those little facts that bothered me here. Criticism is good. Criticism based on incorrect definitions of the genre that they play in, and incorrect understanding of the songwriting and complexity of the Error album and what we have so far heard of kmf, that’s sort of odd to me. Just tell the correct information about things when comparing.
Qotms WAS more complex and was a concept album. That’s not typical though or the definition of great rock music.
And to listen to this song and sound resigned that it is boring to you… for me, I’ve felt that way about some songs at times, but this one is so heavy and an excellent example of less is more… which is also why they choose shorter songs. They have ALWAYS done that. Very short cool outros leaving us wanting more

    • @Guwig

I agree with you. I feel that many people evaluate the Warning with quite unrealistic parameters, they set parameters in which The Warning has to be the heaviest or the most complex or the most experimental, In such a way that if we were to evaluate the most iconic songs of all time using that parameters, 90% of the song would not be up to the challenge either.

The Warning has been working their asses off since touring started after the pandemic. And it's not letting up! The sisters themselves said in an interview that they created this album, Keep Me Fed, to have fun. And it shows. Pau mentioned that this album is the New Warning. And they told us that they were working with different artists almost every day. (Learning/Growth) Their producer did what he was hired to do. There will probably be a different producer for the next album and a different sound again. I expect them to change and change and change. Just look at the differences between Queen of the Murder Scene and Error. Nothing stays the same and if it does, it gets boring. No one knows where The Warning is going. Up to this point, it's still The Warning. No matter where they go I'll be a fan and I'll remain completely proud of them. And if they double their fan base by being more 'poppy', awesome!!

You may or may not like TW but it is better to hint at things you would like to hear from them in their songs and not say that they are a disappointment or that you were expecting a great guitar solo. The important thing is that TW is experiencing different facets of music production as composers, co-composers, performers and producers. Did the chorus come too fast? maybe. Could Dani do two rounds of Riff? maybe. Should they improvise a little more? maybe. But this is not for TW bohemian and altruism is also the job they chose to live and first they need to show themselves to the world.

I understand the tastes of all 3 and they all have their valid reasons, The Warning is very difficult to please everyone... not even Metallica, Gun's and Roses, ACDC among many others please everyone. What I have noticed about The Warning is that their studio version songs are more to attract radio audiences, with a pop-rock touch very well worked but in concerts they bring out their heavier sound. A sample is Hell you call a dream, Queen of the murder scene among others, which makes the old school fans stay. And I agree, if that ending had been extended longer it would have been great, which shows that if they put their mind to it they can get that heavy metal hook.

Wow, feelings are hurt. We actually do our channel to support our local grassroots bands with live coverage and interviews, we review larger acts to generate views of the channel, that is true, but our goal was to gain viewers so that they might feel inclined to check out some of the other unknown artists we interview and review to push exposure. If we did this purely for views then we would just do reactions to big bands but we hardly do any. We did the warning as across the two channels we have done the warning around 17 times so felt we had a good understanding of the band and a way to share how we felt about it

I'm a huge fan of The Warning, and I actually appreciate that you guys give your unfiltered opinion about the band. Even if I don't agree with a lot of your opinions on The Warning, they give me something to think about since most other reactors are afraid to say anything bad about the band. Also, as much as you talk about how good QoTMS is as an album (and I agree, it's a fantastic album), maybe you should show Andy and Kirk a song off the album so they understand where you are coming from. For this new album, I personally think the band is genuinely experimenting with their sound and not being "pressured" by their label.

Who is gonna bring the Rock to the forefront...? The big name bands? They fill up stadiums, but when it comes to the mainstream, it is still RAP-POP. People has been saying for years that the Rock is dead, then again you see all those bands in the internet and youtube...Why most people haven't heard about them? Oh yeah, they are not mainstream. Even Metallica in the black album had to slow down and put some sense to their music, that made them really explode globally, but pissing off fans on the way. Likewise The Warning is not for everybody, specially for metalheads.

I just watched another reactor, who’s also a big metal fan, and he went on and on about how great the riff is in this song. I also know that one of the biggest praises I hear regarding this band is how great the riffs are. So it makes me think you have a different idea of what a good guitar riff should be. I also think there’s clearly some genre confusion going on here. I think it might be similar to when metal fans complain about there not being enough double bass drum in a song. It’s comparing apples to oranges in my opinion. You might be complaining about the genre more than the individual song in this case.

Exactly ! why keep reacting to an alternative pop- rock band on a metal channel whose owners want to listen to metal !!!. It's frustrating that they focus their energy on this when they could be talking about so many new things, but I think they are too old and stayed in the 80s, it's incredible that they don't have a video about Gojira (the best metal band of the last years), being a metal channel, or even Mastodon or about the new and great metalcore scene which is the only thing that still keeps metal alive and popular with young people even if it's not to everyone's taste especially old people like these guys who seem stuck in old doom metal or ancient bands like Slayer.
Even if they want something feminine why don't they react to Lovebites who might be more to their taste with the virtuosic solos they demand so much. But I think they have been living in a cave for years, with the mannequins ha ha ha and they don't know much of what is listened today because the man with glasses thinks that to be a rock band you need solos when the alternative rock genre has been almost 20 years without using solos, but they don't even understand the difference between rock, metal, alternative.
They might even react to new metal like Sleep Token to give them a heart attack ha ha ha with how elitist and old they seem. If they are going to keep getting caught up reacting to TW then next time they should also react to Royal Blood, Dead Poet Society, and even Foo Fighters which are bands with the same sound as TW. But the guy in the middle seems to be too in love with the band ha ha ha won't let them go. Sad. Get over it, man!

I hope we did judge on the music not the people. We have always said that we think the band is very talented and we have said that this is where they want to go. When we reviewed sick we mentioned that they are experimenting and that we are seeing them develop their musical taste over the years compared to most bands where that's done prior to forming a band. From Dave's point of view he has gone from being really excited about the music that the band is putting out to now not being bothered as to him they sound like alo of other rock bands, although with great harmonized vocals. I think that's where the frustration comes from, a band you really enjoy has now become something that no longer interests you, I guess the only thing in life you guarantee is that things change

And please give more space to female hard rock and metal bands who need real support and don't waste their time on other things that you don't enjoy..

If you look better at the crowd, there are only young people under 30 that we can see.
We can see this in all of Latin America at least.
Of all those who have reacted and opinions that have been expressed, only one in 50 has done so in a negative way like you.
    That means positive progress.
I find it very curious how you tried to judge the song with just a few seconds of listening, then you tried to correct it but you yourselves influence each other.
I can perceive that this evolution, which we all know is in a phase of relaxed experimentation, has been very well summarized by its fans and also gaining considerably many followers.
Although there are still a few songs to be revealed, I must say that, to the best of my taste and knowledge, "Keep Me Fed" is and contains Grammy material and in 2025 we will see if I am right in my statement…
At the very least they should get a nomination as a group, album or one of their songs.

  • @Scott_Diverscott

it seems to me that you might want to take a look at the way that the current music market works. Many fans aren’t interested in listening to complete albums anymore. Nowadays, it’s all about singles that are streamed on Spotify and other platforms. Listeners queue up only their favorites and disregard the rest. I do it and I’ll bet that you do it, too. The term pop rock has been used a lot, and the connotation that you get from it makes it sound like it’s an evil, vulgar thing. In reality, it means popular rock. So, the band has written in a style that is a bit more accessible for their fans. They have a large following of younger fans, which, although you state that you do not see them, are certainly there. We see it in younger bands covering The Warning’s songs and in the daily behind the scenes videos. The older demographic probably makes up about 30 to 40% of the fanbase. I enjoy the variety of styles they bring to the table. Broaden your horizons a bit 🤣

    • @Itzzy515

I don't know where you live but their audience in Europe are 40+ men and in USA are purely old men 60+. The only place where they have young fans is in Latin America. The covers of young bands you have seen are in the minority and the majority are latin or asian. 70% of their fanbase are old men and barely 30% are young. The video was shot in Mexico so there are a lot of young people. They desperately need a young audience in USA to have a long career, they can't be girls in their 20s performing in front of 70 year old grandpas.

Hi Scott, we have a wide range of influences in our music collection which is why we were able to say a song might sound generic... we have heard that style before, maybe not with three harmonies but the core ellements. Unfortunately that is where the Rock genre is, it's been around for so long that if you listen to enough of it then you can say every song sounds like something before. In relation to Streaming, Dave refuses to use it and only buys cds or buys MP3'S from the bands sites as the bands make nothing from streaming and its one of the biggest blights on the industry. Alot of bands are going down the singles route, not because they want to but because the audience has a limited attention span and moves onto other acts if you do not keep putting out regular releases. It's a sad state for the industry and many bands are having to step away from music as it is simply not financially viable, especially with the commisions that they have to pay when touring. We talked about it on the channel awhile back that 20 years ago people spent hundreds of pounds a year buying albums etc an now people complain that a streaming service costs £9.99 and has gone up by £1.00. If it was down to my id make streaming platforms cost £49.99 a month minimum and get bands back to CD's for £10.00 then atleast the artists would be able to pay the bills.

With the sad state of affairs in the music industry, we really can’t blame artists for trying to reach more segments of the audience. In regards to sone comments about age of the fans and music types, if they are making music that predominantly appeals to “older” fans, then that’s what they’ll attract. To appeal to younger audiences they need to adapt, which is what we’re seeing. They expand their repertoire to appeal to a wider spectrum. Sometimes that means more catchy lyrics, instead of longer storylines.

As much as I hate it to be true, everything you've said is absolutely right, Dave (especially) and Kirk. Dave, you couldn't have said it better. I've been harping on this point for months (since "More" came out), and I've taken a lot of crap from fans, which I expected, but it doesn't mean I'm wrong. Andy, although you're saying that it makes sense for bands to go this route, I think that misses the bigger point here, which Dave articulated well, and which I've been saying since "More" (which was I think their Rubicon and the canary in the proverbial coal mine), which is that it may arguably make sense monetarily in the short term, but I don't want to listen to it, and in fact, listening to it just depresses me because it reminds me of where they were and where they could have gone with their great talent. I don't think it's smart. Dany worked hard for years to make herself into a really good singer (see Martirio as an example), and now we get nothing but laughably distorted gimmicky vocals. This screams of music marketing guys talking them into "being smart", and focusing on mass marketing formulaic songs, which almost anyone could do. This could very well have been written by a computer or a focus group, which is what alarmed me so much when I heard More. (By the way, I think "Error" (which I have a vinyl and cd of, which will unfortunately probably be my last The Warning purchase) counts as a full album after QOTMS.) We've seen this a thousand times, and it's depressing. Scorpions is a great example. Another one is Cheap Trick (a band from near me), whose first album was fantastic, and they turned into pop mush to make a money grab after that. With these young women, though, it's especially unfortunate to see this, because of what they could have been, and because I think they are genuinely nice people who are being talked into selling their souls, or at least selling away a lot of us who used to like their music a lot. As Edgar Allan Poe said in 1840 in an essay about music and the pitfalls of selling music this way: "Give to music any undue decision - imbue it with any very determinative tone - and you deprive it, at once, of its ethereal, its ideal, and, I sincerely believe, of its intrinsic and essential character. You dispel its dream-like luxury. You dissolve the atmosphere of the mystic in which its whole nature is bound up. You exhaust it of its breath of fairy. It then becomes of the Earth, earthy. It will not lose ALL of its power to please, but all that I consider to be the distinctiveness of that power. And to the over cultivated talent or to those without imagination, this deprivation will be a recommendation. A determination or formula of expression is sought - and sometimes by composers who should know better - is sought as a beauty, rather than rejected as a blemish. Thus we have, even from high authorities, attempts at absolute IMITATION in music. Who can forget, or cease to regret, the many errors of this kind into which some great minds have fallen, simply through overestimating the triumph of skill?"

Do you know DPA personally? Are you privy to some inside information on the song writing and production choices that went into these songs? If not, then your speculation that this is being pushed by the label or producer is just that, speculation based on your own personal bias, and an insult to the band if this is their current creative direction and choices. They fought a long time to retain creative control when they signed, and I believe they still have to sign off final approval on every track they publish. They have said this is the kind of sound that they enjoy in the music they like. To completely write off the band (“Error . . . will probably be my last The Warning purchase “) on the basis of the last 4 songs tells me one thing, you are not really a true fan.

I'm tired of hearing people complaining about their changes, grow f*_*_***_*_ up._
People hear changes in a band and automatically think, they sold out, and you look, they are working with other writers, so you thing " it's surely an imposition of the record label". But no one see the obvious: they wrote their first albums when they were teenagers, and while most of bands were created by adults who already had previous experiences, The Warning grew together, the band and their personal growth are completely united, so what else can you do to make a change or see what else to do? Well, I think the obvious thing is to work with more people, The thing is that everyone is judging the Warning under the parameters of the other bands, but The Warning was not formed like the other bands. The only way I would think that they are selling out would be if they have completely changed the rock for something else, but in fact they are getting closer to the alternative rock sound of their heroes that always have been Muse, And that nonsense that the structure of The Warning lately sounds more orthodox, more pop, well, When has it been different? they have never been an ultra experimental band, They always had that pop element in their music
