Today, on this very special episode of The Ranveer Show, we welcome Robin Uthappa. He is a former Indian cricketer who is known for his aggressive batting style and ability to score quick runs. He has represented India in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals. Uthappa has also played for various domestic teams in India, including Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Doesn't make sense. All teams have the same budget constraints to play with, it's about how smart the franchise is while building and choosing their squad.
Not really Surya kumar yadav is playing for 6cr. How is that possible, if he comes to main auction he would probably go for 20+cr. There are powerful franchises capable of trading off players . I am pretty sure they gave surya plot more tahn 6cr. . they just found a way to bend the rules

@@akshaymate954 Not really, auction budget is a rule and certain franchises found a way to bend the rules to their advantage. Weaker teams couldn't do it. Franchise approaching Hardik pandya is an other example where they bent rule to their advantage. No other franchize would have pulled it other than MI. Auction process is biased. Csk and RR rigging ipl auction for Andrew flintoff (2011, revealed by Lalit modi) is a classical example of that. Auction is biased.
If he playing 6 cr his fault he should ask more money
Teams Players purse is 100 crs and the profits that Teams get is 250 crs on avg. I would rather want teams to set up academies and unearth new talents in the academy to be paid 6 Lakhs per annum for example than an already well paid cricketer getting more money out of greed. And teams should be allowed to have five under 21 academy graduates in your team which could solve the talents moving away issue. And for mega auction a 5 player retenion and 3-4 RTM. There could be Junior Premier League aswell with the remaining u21 players in the academy to play with other team academies on the prev day of both teams matchday.
Setting up academies also have their pitfalls .Look at any European football club and you'll see why. Real Madrid and Barcelona usually take in a lot more young boys and girls in their academy and youth program. Not everyone gets a chance to play for their club. Many are loaned out to other smaller clubs and or let go as free agents. For young boys and girls who dedicated their lives to a sport and a club , they deserve to play for it.
250 crs on average? Abey each franchise gets at least 1200 cr just from broadcast rights before other revenues. Robin is absolutely spot on
@@saurabhb1041 Abe its Profits and not revenue and the data is directly from SUNTV yearly financial report. They provide a detailed expenses , revuenue and profits for their team SRH. SRH is in middle interms of Market value and sponsorships.
Unfortunately and respectfully I disagree on the disparity of profits vs pay to cricketers .. this is common everywhere .. if an organisation starts to share all its profits to employees then why be an corporate or entrepreneur.. its a model .. its business .. thats how its designed.. if we disagree we can happily not be part of thier organisation and go to one which has a model like uthapa mentions which I don’t think there’s one ..
8 players retention is nonsense. Then teams like MI and CSK will keep winning and doesn't become fair for others. Having 4 retention gives fair chance to all teams to pick players.

In football, the players are available on the transfer market and they have say in terms of which club they wish to choose
Players earn enough in the IPL. The aim of every cricketer should be to use IPL as a Launchpad to ultimately play for India. That is the prize, not your IPL contract. Mr. Uthappa is talking nonsense.
I’m totally up for the Draft system, if not there could also be the International Transfer Window system from the Football World. There can be a youth development system that allows IPL teams to recruit and train youngsters( as young as 14-15yrs) and these youngsters can then play go on and play for the team. The possibilities are endless tbh. If only they looked a little more

I love the mega auction - it gives excitement to see what teams think and how they chose players, plus it gives added incentive to those teams who don't perform well during previous seasons to start fresh

It’s time for players union like NFL or NBA players union. The players will need to comprehensive lockout for the owners to negotiate and pay. Otherwise they will not pay players what they deserve. My 2 cents
Things we can expect is like increasing base value of Indian Cricketers from 10 Lakh to 20 Lakh or maybe even to 40 Lakh.
From a fan perspective I think there should be mega auctions because teams like RCB and Delhi need some good players, Agar 8 retain kroge to koi change hi nahi hoga.. Look at Mumbai's Indian core team, its bullying IMO !!
NBA does not work like that only NFL does what you are saying. NBA has a lottery system where the lowest rank team get lot of balls and highest rank team gets the least number of balls. All the balls are put in a box and randomly picked where the lowest rank team has a high probability of winning the number 1 pick but does not guarantee it.

If he has that much problem with the ecosystem then why did he play IPL for so many years and he also earned millions through it. At that time he didn’t find that disrespectful when teams were buying him. There is nothing wrong in it players are earning good money youngsters are getting great platform to showcase there talent and get selected in national team.
