Aw hell what a terrible thing to happen but especially right before Christmas!!! What can be done about the pipes rotted you saw through the cam? Not sure what the access points are but I guess they just need to be replaced, or better yet if they can be relined without having to tear things up?

Was this a weekend call ? I seem to have the worst calls on the weekends. Never fails Half the time I need something from the supply house and they close at noon on Saturday and the call comes in at 1:00 PM

I installed a new toilet seat. I know your struggle. I bought a fancy one that can be removed pushing a button but I had gotten elongated instead of oval but in my defense the toilet bowl is longer than it is wide so it looked elongated to me. So I order a different seat on amazon and as I'm opening it I notice that the hardware bag is open and that one of the two mount bolt/nuts is missing. Even the one plastic bolt/nut that came with it didn't work. I'd tighten it and the nut would just pop off. So I used the fancy metal/rubber hardware that came with the fancy seat but the new seat has a proprietary system where the bolt kind of locks in some grooves so it wasn't ideal but I just tightened the hell out of it and the seat is solid. I also noticed that the seat mount hinge was damaged on one side on the new seat. It's harder to open/stiff and it makes a grinding noise but fuck it, I can live with it. I did take the hinge apart and spray in wd40 but no luck. I think the soft close mechanism is messed up. The hinge on that side also has a big gap compared to the other side. I'm not going to return the fancy $60 seat without the hardware and screw someone like I was screwed, though the plastic screw/bolt crap wouldn't have worked anyway. One day someone will need an emergency elongated toilet seat and then I will be the hero. Until then it will be a heirloom of my house, passed down from one generation to the next until it is called on to fulfill it's destiny one day.
