Your best interview ever! Your dad seems like a great guy. I think you get your calm pleasant mannerism from him. Except for the language, father daughter adoration looks the same every where you go. I could listen to you two talk for hours. I would like to hear more about how the achievements during the time of the Soviet Union i.e. space travel, military machines, athletic champions, etc. we’re viewed by the common people there. Also, I’m close to your dads age and like him, I lived through the Cold War. His thoughts on that would make an interesting video.

Savietski soyuz paid for my Komsomol programme in my high school which expose me to students from so many European countries. And they gave us subsidized field trips to observatory etc.
And at times they sent folks from Ukraine SSR, RSFSR, Belaros SSR, Uzbekistan SSR ...
It was good exposure for me. It wasn't so much propaganda. But a really good well rounded education and extra curricular programme.
    Thanks CCCP soyuz. 👍🏿

Very accurate and interesting history about the happenings of the late 1900-hundreds. One of the best I have seen in fact because it has such a personal touch. My grandfather was sent to Siberia as well but managed to get back, that happened some 30 years earlier. Maybe history just keeps repeating it self until we have an awakening. Thank you Taya&Dad

I think he was confused regarding Russian culpability in the Iran, Iraq war. Having said that, I can relate to his questioning, enquiring mind. In the UK we had 2, then 3 TV channels until 1982, when channel 4 debuted. Also, Industrial strikes, unemployment, urban decay, terrorism, hungerstrikes (northern Ireland) were all occuring in 1970s/80s UK. I was at junior school in 1982 and only a handful of kids in the class had been abroad; quite a few weren't familiar with the countryside either.
